[0:12] to actually have real food on stage

[0:14] there's a lot of prep that goes into

[0:15] having real food and just you know safe

[0:18] food practices so we'll be strategic

[0:20] about who gets to actually consume not

[0:22] everyone gets to eat

[0:25] pie but those who do will be really

[0:27] excited i'm responsible for anything

[0:29] that the actors touch in their and hold

[0:31] in their hands so that can be handheld

[0:33] props food props it can be set dressing

[0:36] and it is often furniture i always start

[0:39] by reading the script i create the props

[0:41] list that really goes through and

[0:44] determines like okay so this person

[0:46] talks about this item that means they

[0:48] should really have it and then I meet

[0:49] with the director and we talk through

[0:51] what their vision is for those items how

[0:53] they're going to be used and then it

[0:55] comes down to researching period

[0:58] researching the world that we live in

[1:00] for that specific show and then it comes

[1:03] the sourcing so a lot of things usually

[1:06] come from our own personal stock we're

[1:07] very fortunate that we have a goodiz

[1:09] stock both for furniture as well as

[1:11] props but it often also means some

[1:14] antiquing some purchasing online having

[1:17] good relationships with other theaters

[1:20] and being able to borrow or rent from

[1:22] other theaters that also have good

[1:24] stocks and so it really comes from lots

[1:26] of different places to end up being on

[1:28] stage so this is our prop storage most

[1:31] of our small furniture is here on site

[1:34] we do have a decent amount of larger

[1:37] items at an off-site storage location

[1:39] but everything furniture related is over

[1:43] here um we also have a lot of hand props

[1:49] so things are you know things are all

[1:51] categorized together but anything

[1:53] kitchen related we have a bunch of

[1:56] medical supply stuff um everything has

[1:58] its proper home but there

[2:01] is a lot of things that go into making a

[2:04] show waitress specifically because we're

[2:06] in a diner there's a lot of food we're

[2:09] not only seeing people place orders

[2:12] we're also seeing people consume things

[2:14] we're also seeing people bake things so

[2:16] it's the raw ingredients as well as the

[2:20] forming of the dough it's the tracking

[2:23] every object on stage in terms of okay

[2:26] that person or places an order do we

[2:28] actually see their order arrive are they

[2:30] going to actually have time to consume

[2:32] that order so it's it's really a process

[2:35] in that regard so this one is mermaid

[2:38] marshmallow pie and there's actually a

[2:41] hole in the middle so that you can put a

[2:44] cream in so that the actor has something

[2:45] to actually consume so the whole like

[2:48] the pie itself is not consumable but you

[2:50] do have a part that the actor can

[2:52] interact with um and there's individual

[2:54] little

[2:55] marshmallows i think that's the most

[2:57] unique thing about Waitress is the

[3:00] colorful and artfulness of the food that

[3:03] we see come on out to Artistry to see

[3:06] Waitress and eat some pie
