The city of Bloomington is promoting several public resources through its weekly information program, including a new interactive development map and waste disposal alternatives during the current odd-numbered year.

Bloomington Community Development launched an interactive map allowing residents to track development projects throughout the city. The online tool displays projects in various stages, from under review to recently completed, and includes project overviews, renderings, status updates and links to application materials.

With no curbside cleanup available this year, the city outlined several waste disposal alternatives for residents. The city partners with nonprofit Better Futures Minnesota to provide monthly collection of reusable and recyclable bulky items at no extra cost. Accepted items include furniture, rugs, mattresses, large appliances, home fixtures, building materials, bicycles, grills and tools, though furniture and building materials must be in good working condition.

The Hennepin County Problem Waste Drop Off Center, located in Bloomington, accepts electronics, hazardous waste and extra recyclables. Residents can also schedule fee-based bulky item pickups year-round through utility billing. The city plans to host a fall recycling drop-off event, with postcards containing event details mailed to residents in late summer.

Bloomington Public Health announced expanded access to naloxone kits to address the opioid crisis. Free kits containing the overdose-reversal medication and fentanyl test strips are now available 24 hours a day at M Health Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina through a partnership with the Steve Rumler Hope Network.
