[0:19] the latest news in Bloomington

[0:21] bloomington makes the list again as one

[0:23] of the best places to live in the United

[0:25] States livability.com recently published

[0:27] its 100 best places to live in the US

[0:30] list four cities from Minnesota made the

[0:32] list including Rochester Duth and

[0:34] Minneapolis bloomington ranked highest

[0:36] among those it ranked 20th overall up a

[0:39] spot from last year livability looked at

[0:42] cities with populations between 75,000

[0:44] and 500,000 and the cities considered

[0:47] also had to have homes with a median

[0:49] value of less than $500,000 the article

[0:52] highlighted Bloomington's parks and

[0:54] outdoor spaces strong education and

[0:57] thriving local economy as just a few of

[0:59] the reasons for the recognition to read

[1:05] for leaders in law enforcement was the

[1:07] focus of a recent training the

[1:09] Bloomington Police Department in

[1:10] partnership with the Egan Police

[1:12] Department and the Minnesota Chiefs of

[1:13] Police Foundation hosted a

[1:15] firstofits-kind training in Minnesota on

[1:17] Thursday May 8th Bloomington Police

[1:19] Chief Booker Hodgees hosted a press

[1:21] conference to share more about the 4-day

[1:23] training so this program what we did

[1:25] this week was we had uh 32 people had

[1:28] signed up and they were all police

[1:30] chiefs or command staff members and at

[1:33] the conclusion of this training that's

[1:34] why I'm dressed like this today uh

[1:36] everybody is now certified as a peer

[1:39] support member what does that mean um

[1:42] those of us that completed the training

[1:44] are able to uh provide peer support to

[1:47] our peers so if people are going through

[1:49] things or people are having um uh mental

[1:52] health issues uh we're able to uh at

[1:54] least have conversations with them and

[1:56] provide them with resources also it

[1:58] allows for these conversations to be

[2:01] protected being a leader or a chief in

[2:04] this day and age can be challenging and

[2:07] it's one of the things that I firmly

[2:09] believe in if we're saying these

[2:10] programs are needed for our officers

[2:12] then they're also needed for us the

[2:14] course is designed to meet the

[2:15] requirements of Minnesota's public

[2:17] safety peer counseling law and follows

[2:19] the curriculum required by the state

[2:21] statute the training was led by Sunrise

[2:23] Wellness founder and licensed

[2:24] psychotherapist Andrea Hendel along with

[2:26] pre-licicensed clinician Casey Allen

[2:29] pete the therapy dog was also there get

[2:32] connected to job opportunities at the

[2:34] older adult job fair the free job fair

[2:36] is happening at Creekide Community

[2:37] Center on Tuesday May 20th from 1 to 4

[2:40] p.m it connects attendees with local

[2:42] businesses eager to welcome older adults

[2:45] and retirees to their workforce for paid

[2:47] part-time and seasonal opportunities

[2:49] it's hosted by Bloomington Public Health

[2:51] Parks and Recreation and Martin Luther
