hi my name is jackie hayden and i am the college and career coordinator for brooklyn center high school i will be talking to you about the value of passion pride and perseverance [Music] i feel like it's really fitting that i'm recording this video on the senior's last day of school because i'd like to talk about the seniors and how they show this value and their actions i feel also really lucky to be the connector of students to their dream jobs in my work i get to hear the stories of grit and determination and love that our students share with colleges and employers i listen to students in their testimonies of brilliance and bravery and how they show up in the world to fight injustice this past year and a half we have been in a global pandemic many of our students have worked full time to cover the cost of bills for their family they have done distance learning they have suffered from mental health issues because of being in isolation but yet despite the obstacles that they have faced they have shown up this year we have the most scholarships awarded to our senior class ever before in brooklyn center history we have a total of 31 scholarships awarded including four axis scholarships seven wallen scholarships a beat the odds scholarship for the first time in bc history and so many more seniors i am so proud of everything that you have overcome and how you have shown up to show us this value of passion pride and perseverance so you can set that example for the classes to come [Music]
