Following a review of 17 blind applications scored by board members, the board discussed how many candidates to interview. A motion was made and approved to interview the top four candidates. The names of the selected candidates (Richard Bintesen, Cheryl Holm Hansen, Brian Half, and Lenny Kaufman) were announced, with interviews scheduled for Thursday, November 20th.

We are in statutory operating debt. We are one of only a handful of school districts across the state in this kind of financial crisis. We simply do not have the option to do nothing.
everything that is part of a recommendation has a trade-off. Everything. We can make different decisions but each decision has a trade-off for the the short term and for the long term.
I think our public has made it very you know made some good uh comments with regard to splitting the children. They've made some very very strong and good arguments for that. And if we can fit a whole other building into one that can accommodate those children so that we don't do that split, it enables us to decide then in the the next phase of whatever what kind of programming is necessary to accommodate the kinds of things that you just talked about because I think that this board and community, as far as I know, is very sensitive to the needs of special education.
I'm a grown-up that says we got to fix this mess and we got to fix it now by the deadlines that we're in. So, um I know that we're going to be having public hearings. There's a concern from me as a board member that knows that, you know, I've read the emails. I've seen the pain. I know how much it hurts. Um but I also know on the other hand, we have kids that are hurting because they don't have enough because we don't have full capacity buildings where we're fully funding things.
Um, I would offer that tonight's the night. Talk about other options that the board would like to what other buildings would you like to close and so that we can give the information.
So, I just wanted to remind everyone of that. So um so I think that we we need to make some sort of move tonight to get something in the newspaper because of those reasons. Um that's a nice um elegant solution to put maybe some oras in there. But um but I do think we need to put something out there so that we can continue to move the process forward. Um whatever that might be, whatever that might look like.
