This is Dr. Kim Hy, [0:10] proud superintendent of ACE Area Schools [0:12] and welcome to the first episode of [0:15] Holding Space for the 202526 [0:17] school year. I have the pleasure of [0:19] being at Edinbrook Elementary today [0:22] where they're holding their fun run as [0:24] well as a family picnic. So, we have a [0:26] lot of people here today. So, I wanted [0:28] to take the time as well and talk to [0:30] some of our scholars here at Edinburgh [0:32] Elementary. So, I'm going to have them [0:34] introduce themselves. So, hello. Can you [0:37] say your name and what grade you're in? [0:39] My name is Charlotte and I'm in fifth [0:41] grade. [0:41] Okay, next person. [0:43] My name is Emma and I'm in fifth grade. [0:47] My name is Boss and I'm I'm in fourth [0:49] grade. [0:49] Thank you. And last but not least, [0:52] my name is Leon and I'm in fifth grade. [0:54] Awesome. So, we're about three weeks in, [0:56] almost four weeks into the school year, [0:58] closing up for October. How has your [1:01] school year been? [1:03] Pretty cool. [1:04] Pretty cool. [1:04] It been pretty um good. [1:07] Okay. [1:07] This school year has has been pretty [1:09] cool. I made some new friends and [1:11] there's some new faces around this [1:12] school. And new faces means new people [1:17] and you can make new friends. And that's [1:20] that's pretty much what I've been doing. [1:22] This school has been cool. And my [1:24] teacher is pretty nice. [1:26] Outstanding. [1:27] Uh the school year is pretty much the [1:29] same for me kind of. [1:31] Okay. [1:32] And um there's a lot more students here. [1:36] Okay. So today's uh Have you had your [1:39] lunch yet or been participated in a fun [1:41] run? [1:42] Uh yes, I have. And we had we have had [1:45] our lunch. [1:46] Okay. All right. How was the fun run? [1:48] How far do you have to run? Is it a mile [1:50] or what is it? [1:50] A mile and a half. So [1:52] a mile and a half. Okay. Do you have to [1:54] run it? Can you walk it or [1:55] you can walk or run? Either one. [1:57] Okay. [1:57] Yeah. But mostly you're supposed to walk [2:00] cuz fun walk, not fun run, but [2:02] Oh, fun. I forgot the fun part of it. [2:04] Okay. [2:04] Yeah. [2:04] Okay. [2:05] Man, this looks really, really good. We [2:07] got hot dogs for our families and [2:09] students and the beef. Can you tell a [2:10] little bit about the hamburgers we have [2:12] today? [2:12] Well, yes. The burgers that we used [2:14] today, we're getting from Ranchers [2:15] Legacy, which is a local Minnesota [2:17] company. And then we started last year [2:19] getting all Minnesota beef. So, Wow. uh [2:22] we were able to get a grant last year [2:24] and then the burgers were so fantastic [2:25] that we rolled into it and kept it on [2:27] with uh the menu and uh with that [2:30] product. [2:30] I just wanted to say thank you as much [2:33] to say your name again. [2:35] Boston. [2:36] Boston. [2:36] Emma [2:37] Charlotte [2:39] representing the one and only Edin Brook [2:41] Elementary. And one thing about [2:42] Edinburgh as well is Edinburgh is our [2:44] only elementary school in our district [2:47] that does AVID. So, they help teach uh [2:49] studying skills and get our students on [2:51] track to what they want to do for career [2:53] and college. And that goes into every [2:55] single one of our middle schools and [2:57] every one of our high schools. So, thank [2:58] you for being with us today and holding [3:00] space with Dr. Hy.
