[0:02] Our schools
[0:03] provide an exceptional
education for students.
[0:06] This education provides a strong
foundation for the careers
[0:09] and passions each student
will pursue in the future.
[0:13] Student attendance is a critical element
[0:15] in enabling our teachers and staff
[0:17] to provide this education effectively.
[0:21] It may seem like an obvious statement,
[0:23] but when students aren't in the classroom,
[0:25] learning can't happen.
[0:28] That is why it is important
that schools, families,
[0:30] and students partner together to make sure
[0:33] that students are in the classroom.
[0:36] Research shows that after
just nine days of absences,
[0:39] student learning is negatively impacted.
[0:42] This might look like
falling behind in their work
[0:44] or declining grades,
[0:46] and in some cases, referral
of the student and family
[0:49] to the County Attorney's office
[0:51] to address issues of truancy
or educational neglect.
[0:54] We understand students may face barriers
[0:57] that affect their
ability to attend school.
[1:03] There are many ways we
can partner together
[1:05] to help students overcome these barriers.
[1:09] Meeting students where they are at
[1:11] and providing resources and support
[1:13] can have a positive impact on attendance.
[1:16] Our family's participation
in attendance is critical.
[1:20] None of these strategies work
without a strong partnership
[1:23] between families and our schools.
[1:25] Together, we can help students thrive
[1:27] and have a happy and successful
educational experience.
