My name is Sarah [25:46] Meer and I just want to take a minute to [25:48] talk about Cooper Performing Arts [25:50] Boosters or CPAB for short. Um we are a [25:55] volunteer organization of parents um [25:57] that supports the performing arts here [25:59] at Cooper. And if you are a parent of [26:03] band, choir, orchestra or theater or [26:06] multiple of those uh you are a member of [26:09] CPAB 2. What we do is provide volunteers [26:14] uh material and supplies and funds as [26:17] needed to ensure all students Cooper [26:20] students can take part in any of these [26:22] activities. We help organize fund [26:24] raisers such as dine and donates, cub [26:27] bagging. Um we run the concession stands [26:30] at many shows and activities. Um the [26:32] funds we raise provide many thing many [26:35] things um for these organizations such [26:37] as small things such as snacks for those [26:39] long days. Um medium things such as you [26:44] might see some of the students with the [26:45] with the Cooper choir shirts. Um we help [26:48] provide those. Um to big things such as [26:50] scholarships um for the trips that they [26:53] go on. Choir is going on one in March. [26:57] um uh and scholarships for lessons. [27:01] We are always looking for more parents [27:03] to be involved with our boosters. Uh [27:06] ways that you can be involved you can be [27:09] involved is attend meetings to find out [27:11] the things that are going on. Donate [27:13] items for various activities, uh [27:15] volunteers at fundraisers, concession [27:18] stands or performances throughout the [27:20] year. And the biggest thing that we ask [27:22] you to do is come to the performances. [27:25] Uh you're here tonight probably because [27:27] you have a student performing in choir. [27:29] Come to the other performances. Check [27:31] out those performing arts. On Thursday [27:33] we have a great choir uh orchestra [27:35] concert coming up. Um in February we [27:38] have our musical production of You're a [27:40] Good Man, Charlie Brown. So check out [27:43] those things. Invite people to come with [27:45] you, the community. Um, as you all know, [27:48] our district is facing some budget [27:50] challenges [27:51] and uh, as a part of that challenge, we [27:55] need to show the district that the arts [27:57] are important. Um, we have faced some [28:00] cuts in the arts. Um, thank you to our [28:02] director, Jen Rowan, who has chosen the [28:05] role of superwoman this year as she has [28:08] taken on and and ensured that [28:10] programming continues for all these [28:12] choir students as she dropped from two [28:14] full-time people to one full-time choir [28:17] teacher. So, we need to support these [28:20] things in the district. Um, so you [28:22] showing up helps a ton, but also if you [28:25] can donate time, um, that is a great way [28:29] to help, too. [35:44] And I just said, "How special is it that [35:46] we get to sing the Hallelujah Chorus at [35:48] the winter concert until until question [35:51] mark?" Um, and so it really means a lot [35:54] instrumentalists that you have joined [35:55] us. And one thing that I love about [35:57] teaching here is that our students do it [36:00] all and they are collaborators and those [36:02] are soft skills that are so powerful as [36:05] they move into young adulthood. So we've [36:08] got one more stage shift to add the wind [36:11] and brass for Hallelujah Chorus. Then we [36:13] will add sopranos and altos.
