I am Kim Berling and I am [0:13] the proud interim principal here at AIO [0:16] Senior High and I am here with two of [0:19] our awesome students um who represent [0:22] both Link Crew and our yearbook advisors [0:26] here at AIO Senior High. I'm gonna let [0:28] them introduce themselves. [0:30] Hi, my name is Gani. I'm a junior and as [0:32] she said, I'm in yearbook. I'm a linker [0:34] leader. I really love, you know, getting [0:35] outside and I just am here to interview [0:37] our lovely principal today. Hi, I'm [0:39] Said. I'm also going to be a junior. Um, [0:42] also in yearbook and link crew now. Um, [0:45] I am like very active in sports and I [0:48] think I just base off like my whole life [0:50] on that. So, [0:51] ladies, you've got some questions for me [0:52] today. [0:53] Yes, we do. [0:54] Okay, let's go. First one, what high [0:56] school did you go to? And with that, [0:58] what high school did your kid go to or [1:00] did go to? [1:01] Okay, so I grew up in Michigan. Okay. [1:04] Outside of Detroit, I went to a high [1:07] school called Wild Lake Western. [1:09] And so it was in Michigan in Wald Lake. [1:12] Um my kiddos um went to Woodland for [1:17] elementary and now um for high school [1:19] they I have three and they are one [1:22] graduated from Weisetta and I have twins [1:24] who are seniors at Weisetta High School. [1:26] Oh, okay. Okay, cool. If you were a [1:29] teacher, what subject and what grade [1:31] would you teach and why? [1:33] Okay, that's a great one. Well, I was a [1:35] teacher. Really? Oh, really? [1:36] Okay. I was and I taught business [1:38] classes. Oh, so in my prior life before [1:41] education, I was a financial adviser. So [1:44] it was a natural fit to come in and [1:46] teach business. So I really think it's [1:49] an important classes or they are [1:51] important classes for kids to take. [1:53] And so I would go back to teaching [1:55] business in high school. [1:58] Cool. And then what made you want to [1:59] become a principal? [2:01] Oh my goodness. Well, way back after [2:03] teaching, I was in SMS [2:06] and I went back to school to get my [2:08] administration license. I had a [2:10] principal who believed in me and said, [2:12] "I think you should do this." And so, [2:15] um, it was something that they had the [2:18] belief in me and I love students and I [2:22] love high school students and so it [2:25] became something that I wanted to pursue [2:27] and I'm so glad I'm here where I'm at. [2:29] Oh, that's good. Nice. um to like lower [2:31] the you know the level. Yeah. Um what's [2:33] the funniest excuse you've heard about [2:35] somebody being late to class? [2:37] Oh my goodness, you guys. [2:39] I the funniest one. They come up daily [2:42] with something different all the time [2:44] that always surprises me. So to think of [2:47] one [2:50] kids come up with some really good ones. [2:52] funniest one I don't know off hand, but [2:54] you guys are pretty pretty um crafty [2:58] with coming up with excuses. [3:01] Yeah. Um what's your favorite AIO sport? [3:05] Oh, I don't have a favorite AIO sport. [3:07] Really not the football team or [3:09] Well, you know what? Because I love [3:10] going to all of the different events and [3:13] sports to see you guys do what you love [3:15] to do. And so every time I go, it just [3:18] warms my heart to see kids in action [3:21] actually doing what they love. So I love [3:24] to go to different ones. I love football [3:26] and the basketball, but I love to go see [3:29] kids doing something that maybe [3:32] is not as big as a football game, so [3:35] swimming or tennis or whatever. I'd love [3:37] to go see everybody in action doing what [3:39] they love. [3:40] And what's that? Do you have a favorite [3:42] chant in any of those? Oh, what's that [3:44] one you guys? [3:46] Missy always does the shape your [3:50] the cheer team. [3:51] The cheer team. Yes. [3:54] Is that what you're talking about? The [3:55] cheerleader chance. [3:56] One of my favorites for sure. [3:57] Yes, that is my favorite. [3:59] Yeah. If you could switch uh places with [4:01] a student for one day, what grade would [4:03] you choose? [4:06] I think I would go back to senior. [4:08] Okay. because it is just such a great [4:13] year. I feel like um students have [4:16] really matured, have become confident [4:18] with who they are. I feel like your [4:20] senior year, you really opened up your [4:22] heart and you become friends with people [4:24] that maybe weren't in your core group. [4:26] It's just like it's your last year and [4:28] kids really want to enjoy it and have [4:31] fun and soak it all in. I loved high [4:33] school, so I would go back to my senior [4:35] year. [4:35] I see. Um, a little random, but okay. [4:39] Marvel or DC? [4:42] You guys, I'm not into either. [4:44] Really? Wait, no way. No superheroes [4:47] like at all. [4:48] Maybe [4:50] Wonder Woman. So, which one's that? [4:52] Yeah, that's DC, I'm pretty sure. [4:53] Is that DC? Okay, then I'm I'm all in [4:56] DC. Old old school Wonder Woman. [4:58] Okay, okay, that's fair. Um, I was [5:00] wondering this cuz your hair looks [5:01] really good. Are you a natural blonde? [5:03] Uh, [5:05] no. [5:08] No. I have to work to get this um [5:10] blonde. You can see the roots, but I [5:12] mean lighter brown, but not natural. [5:14] Cuz it eats it really good. [5:16] Thank you. [5:17] Okay. If you eat [5:35] any of the school lunch, [5:37] probably like the chicken nuggets. [5:39] Oh, yeah. Those are good. [5:41] With the with the dip, the boom boom [5:43] sauce. [5:44] Oh, yeah. [5:44] Yeah, the boom boom sauce is really [5:45] good. [5:46] Mhm. [5:47] Hey, and I think last one. If you could [5:50] pick a superpower, what would it be and [5:52] why? [5:55] I wish um [5:58] I could heal everybody and take away [6:00] people's pain. That's a good one. Yeah, [6:02] just because um you know there's a lot [6:05] of kids that a lot of adults all of us [6:08] that need support and um you know go [6:11] through hard things in life and um just [6:14] to be there to help uplift and support [6:16] people and take that pain away.
