Brooklyn Park recognized the 50th anniversary of the Volunteers in Partnership program during a recent city council meeting, highlighting five decades of community members supporting students in the Robbinsdale Area School District.

The VIP program connects community volunteers with classrooms throughout the district, allowing volunteers to use their skills and experience to support teachers and students. According to the celebration video presented at the meeting, volunteers work one-on-one with students, assist with small group activities, and help teachers address individual student needs that might otherwise go unmet during regular instruction.

Volunteers and educators featured in the commemorative video emphasized the mutual benefits of the program. Teachers noted that students frequently ask when volunteers will arrive and express disappointment when volunteers cannot attend. One volunteer, identified as Mr. Jack, described the satisfaction of seeing students eager to work with him when teachers ask for volunteers.
