The joint work session between Osseo Area Schools and city council representatives focused on the district's broad reach and community impact. Osseo Area Schools serves Brooklyn Center, Brooklyn Park, Corcoran, Dayton, Maple Grove, Osseo, Plymouth, and Rogers, with particularly strong enrollment in Brooklyn Park.

The district presented details on its "Building a Better Future" plan, a voter-approved initiative to modernize school facilities across the district. Construction is underway to add safer entrances, update classrooms, create STEAM learning spaces (focused on science, technology, engineering, arts, and math), and build modern libraries and flexible learning environments.

School leaders highlighted specialized programs at individual schools. Park Center Senior High operates as an International Baccalaureate World School offering over 200 courses. Brooklyn Middle STEAM School emphasizes project-based learning, while North View Middle School features a literacy-rich environment. Eight elementary schools in Brooklyn Park each have distinct focuses, from arts integration at Birch Grove to fitness programs at Park Brook Elementary.

The district also outlined comprehensive support services including counselors, mental health therapists, social workers, and nurses available to students. Extended learning programs such as enrichment classes, Kidstop childcare, and early childhood services extend the district's reach beyond the traditional school day.

To manage enrollment growth, the district will implement new elementary and middle school attendance boundaries effective in 2026-27. School leaders emphasized that modern, well-maintained schools strengthen communities by attracting families and supporting neighborhood stability. The presentation underscored the district's commitment to strong academics, diverse learning pathways from early childhood through graduation, and long-term community investment.
