we do chair and vice chair elections it is that time of the year after we've had reappointments which we'll get to as part of 3C um anyone sitting up here has been reappointed or appointed to the commission but we'll go through that in a little bit this is an opportunity to elect who you want as chair and vice chair of the commission um you can do it all in one motion you can do it in two separate motions but I would like a motion just because it does make it a little more official do we need to nominate or I mean if someone wants to self-nominate or someone like a make you can make a motion nominating someone that's I nominate Phil for chair chair who for vice chair chair Vice chair Gary over we on Vice chair oh sorry like to make motion is that how we do it or do we actually vote to corkin in 2022 so newer here as well as on the commission um and just looking for a way to get involved in the community and and try to get some say in some things too at the same time so great yeah and you where do you live uh in The Rush Creek Reserve neighborhood so right right across from the city park which is made or which has been a focus of lines okay great well welcome to the commission uh and then we have a couple commissioner [Applause] reappointments which would be commissioner Schmidt and commissioner Anderson we're going to go through we were set to go through the end of this February and from February 28 whole how many years will that make it wow nice job Tom okay and then for the agenda uh let's see any changes or I messed up my up looking the Garden Club has requested a push Brom and in order to be mindful so it's apping I've been doing my research on the items that were requested we're still under budget we're looking at about 730 with all of the items they had requested and a nicer shed y um but I want to make sure that I get your guys' blessing for a push Brom as that was not included in the previous request but uh we would still be within that $1,000 threshold so I just wanted a motion if possible so what that comes now later I'll let you choose I'll make a motion to approve the push anybody want to second I will second that all those in okay okay presentations none all right unfinished business City Park remaster we're at 90% %. so tonight we have with us uh Gabrielle grindy and Thomas Thomas I don't think I know your last name I'm so St side thank you I knew it started with an S um Thomas is from ortell Gabby is from H KGI you've seen them here before um we are going through 90% design review so after this it would then go to council for 100% review and approval to go out for bid um I'll let Gabby kind of take over on most of the speaking and then Thomas for I would assume the building parts and as you guys have questions feel free to ask and we can try and help answer them um otherwise I'll let Gabby take over yeah looking I all right so uh our design process we we've just moved on to construction documentation last time I was here it was design development so we are at the final stages of construction documentation however over the past few months we've had several changes due to budget and some uh value engineering that has occurred during the planning and so we'll go through those changes tonight so this is an update um adding the design development uh image at the bottom right of this graphic so our project schedule so tonight we're doing the 90% design review however we still have some several design decisions to make before we finalize design we are planning to pres the final design to City Council on April 10th and post the project for bid April 18th uh we have a Planning Commission scheduled to review the plans in May and then hope to have the bid opening on May 13th and award the bid May 22nd so planning for construction later this summer The having the Planning Commission after the the bid post for bids is that is that sort of out of in the wrong order uh in speaking with Natalie she said that was fine okay so Natalie's our con our oh my goodness community development director so she's also the staff Lea on Planning Commission so we've been trying to make sure that we're following the right path and trajectory but she said that would be good okay um so the purpose of the meeting tonight we're seeking input uh overall on the general design since we have lots of updates from the last time you saw this just please ask questions or provide input on the items where we've made changes uh we have base bit and we have a few alternates identified and then we have some playground equipment options that we've gone through the vendor and so we'll go into detail in those and ask for input on the selection so this graphic shows the the last P plan you saw in December and then quickly go back and forth a couple times to show what has been changed [Applause] so you can see the parking lot has been made smaller uh the pickle ball is now off we've taken that off uh the building is remaining the playground is remaining however we're looking at some options for the playground equipment to uh save some budget uh we have let's see the splash pad the splash pad is off now yes at this point the things the feedback that we received during the council meeting um as mentioned in the staff report money is tight we're trying to figure out what we can do with the money we have um feedback from Council was to move forward with the building the full building to include the indoor space the bathrooms all of that and then the playground the whole playground and then the parking lot as much as we can um beyond that the Diamond Lake Regional Trail because that's a reimbursement funding that was is planned to move forward um this also includes the entryway into the park Le lling out the fields on one over here so you can see the parking lot has a uh the top right corner of the parking lot is gray and then the rest of it is a white tan color so we're identifying to pave the minimum amount of parking for the building which would be approximately 60 spaces and then there would be a flat ribbon concrete curb along the west and south sides of that paved area and the remaining L-shaped area would be GR grael parking lot so we would bid the gravel shaped area as an alternate to see what the prices come in as for Paving that uh but the base bid would advise just Paving that northwest corner and then we had previously a second entrance or exit on the south side of the parking lot we've taken that out and we're still keeping the South segment of the Diamond Lake Regional Trail South of the parking lot as a identifying that Corridor for future Paving and then having uh vegetation which is required for screening per city code south of the parking lot did you say that parking lot that's the minimum size for to have a building well we were working with Natalie to try to identify what exactly is needed for Paving um there I think there would be a variance included to allow not Paving the full parking lot due to the park uses so when the park is in full use with the soccer t-ball baseball and other activities we would need the full parking lot uh but in order to save budget right now we're recommending that that be gravel and then pave per perhaps next year and two years is the paving necessary for the 60 spots I think for accessibility we should we need to have that right now it's really hard to get everyone into that parking lot without having it lined sure so definitely a staff recommendation moving forward would be we do need to pay the lot at some point I think right now we're just trying to pave enough that we're meeting enough of the code and moving forward with the project and meeting the needs of the building while still trying to be fiscally responsible with more more exciting features to the park things that people will actually be happy about we still want to show that parking lots don't really get people jazzed is there a way you mentioned vegetation would they still maybe put in the other call it trees or the other um I don't know what they're called like the islands the island yeah so that after say two years at least we're not having like kind of consistent like vegetation around the parking lot yep our plan is to include the islands in the parking L at least the northern islands is this city ccil that wanted the little parking lot um it was in an effort to save funds I wouldn't say they necessarily want a partially paved lot I would say ideally they would like to see the whole thing paved but again as we're looking at what can we yeah I'm more leaning towards just don't pay the whole thing until we're ready but sounds like there's a Code issue it would be difficult to meet the accessibility code for parking in the path to the building without having fa spots okay so we're getting a variance already to get this small of parking lot budget constraints yeah are we still having to pay for that uh turn lane as part of this or was that no no we did a traffic study and it was determined that for this part of the phase we did not need to do the turn line I have no update on the speed limit thank you okay but this budget considers already taking that out of the project okay right right okay so it was 450,000 estimated for the turn lane that is not included in the budget so what this shows is basically what city council is willing to spend right is that what less accurate we'll go through our estim how we're still refining yeah what's to the left of the lot there where where the pickle ball cards were going to be this is still shown as pickle ball right here okay so that's just it's just holding the space okay for like a later phase correct yeah all right uh this is our REM plan so I wanted to highlight what the removals will be just so you're all aware to see if there are any questions for uh the process of construction so starting at the South Side uh along Highway 50 there will be removal of fencing trees and lights south of the warming house and Lion's field in order to accommodate new utilities that will be going underground there just to the north of the road and then to the east of the existing driveway entrance several trees will be removed in order to accommodate the new driveway caving and Grading uh to the West there there will be areas where trees will be cleared for the Regional Trail grading of that trail and potential caving of that trail going to the Northwest uh more trees will be removed in that area for the Trail to be constructed uh going along to the north and west side of the ball diamonds there will be more trees removed there and Grading to accommodate the trail the tennis courts and the playground will be removed that's where the Regional Trail Corridor will be installed and then along Highway 10 fencing a section of fencing will be removed for the trail Crossing there so most of that fencing along 10 will stay in place there will probably be a 20 foot section removed and then in the center of the park The Outfield fencing will be removed at the southeast ball diamond in order to accommodate the grading and the playground construction what are the trees that we're removing I think we have a we identified a bunch of trees but we have actually reduced the amount of trees that we're planning to remove due to just the smaller footprint of construction that will occur so uh we and we did reroute the driveway slightly to bring it more to the West so that we're not removing as many trees on the West Side the third Baseline of Li Fields there but most of the trees we're removing are ash and um some other trees that aren't in the greatest condition in that area so not high quality trees we're trying to keep okay good high quality trees however I think one Oak will be removed on the south of the warming house but it may have been or maybe it's already gone there's a half removed tree self removed it's only half de all right this graphic highlights uh the paving and trails Trail Paving that will be um installed so the green the lime green shows the D Regional Trail going around the southwest and North part of the park there will be a short section of Boardwalk on the Northwest Crossing Wetland and the dash line at the South part of the park is where the Regional Trail will be completed in the future so this could be potentially 5 years or more into the future depending on when um the connection would occur across 50 so we don't know when the trail to the South will develop but when that occurs then that southern Trail segment will be constructed so right now the trail will connect to the southern part of the parking lot there's a little um te there around the parking lot we're identifying a binous trail I think this uh the North Eastern corner of that orange Trail will be installed as part of the pave parking lot and then the north and west western part of that orange Trail will be an alternate with the alternate to pave the full parking lot and then the blue around the building and around the playgrounds that will all be concrete and the dashed line shows where the Ada accessible route so that's where the trail or the sidewalk will be less than 5% 5% or less grade uh to accommodate um ad accessibility and then there is a short little white uh curved segment that is north of the playground this will be an aggregate path to connect to the existing aggregate path that goes east and west through the okay um next this is the landscape PL for identifying uh trees around and in the parking lot and around the playground several removals will occur to the east of the driveway coming into the park uh a few trees will be removed to accommodate the building construction and then a few trees on the top of the hill to the east of the playground but we have we took off a lot of the tree removals that we had before because we're not uh recommending as large of a playground container and then the trail that goes up towards the tennis courts uh accommodating that as best we can through the existing trees so the area north of the where the building will be where we talked about putting in outdoor seating area are you grading and removing trees to prepare for that or is that totally out of this that's totally out okay so is the only the only place landscape area just right next to the building kind of in the uh South West Corner yep right now that's all that we're okay all right so then where's the that prairie grass is going to go like everything that's been dug up will receed yes so we're still looking at um what will occur in the storm water areas so south of the parking lot uh where there will be storm water infiltration hoping we can plant some prairie grass there uh potentially the other area that used to be a larger parking lot south of the parking lot could be some prair grasses um potentially around some of the playground as well uh next storm water management so since the pickle ball PS will not be built in this phase we're still planning to rough grade that area generally level and then have the wet Basin south of there it's a little bit smaller than we had shown before because the parking lot is smaller so we can accommodate a little less impervious surface runoff and then the area south of the parking lot we're still showing as an infiltration BAS that would be wet during rain events so if we do pave the whole thing does that mean we have to regrade the storm water areas no I think we're still treating the gravel as impervious but it's a smaller overall parking lot and then we don't have the southern that extra driveway to the South too so it's just smaller so these should be these should be sufficient for when we pave it y yeah civil is still still our civil engineer still working on Final design EV that so I believe this is the footprint and does it change if we do like the pickle ball court does it I'm just asking does this yeah it's a good question account for what we hopefully we'll do next phase cuz everything kind we don't have a lot of room to move that area once that's in there cuz there's Trail and there's the I will note this if we do have to move pickle ball up further like North the soccer fields that are shown on the map they don't have to be that size they won't necessarily be laid out exactly like that it is dependent upon what we need for the program so we work with um stanch for that as well to GIS pinpoint the field locations so that's got some flexibility and some give to it too because we also use the outfields of the ball fields open grass area Mike Mike is sort of be I don't want to have to go back and do the storm water twice so if we can build enough overage now that it can accommodate what could be pickle balls that might help us it' be cheaper to do it all now then come back and do it again good [Applause] question uh all right so for lighting we have identified uh six Cobra parking lot lights so there's uh navy blue circles in the parking lot those would be the standard lights and then the yellow dots are all showing pedestrian scale path area lighting this would all be an alternate uh we still have some balled walkway lights those would also likely be an alternate we haven't determined if we're going to include those in the base bed or has an alternate but the main goal is to provide that parking lot overhead lighting for Safety and Security if those islands aren't there what happens to those parking lot lights do they just sit they would well they would be accommodated in a footing gravel around it currently for reference we have one light and I think it's located about here that's not true we have two lights one there and one about here Improvement all right so this is a zoom in of I guess why did why choose the three going north the lighted areas versus yeah that is more of a staff request I think than anything else and I think it was an alternate right it's not part of the base bid but when programs wrap up and especially like with soccer that's where a lot of the goals and stuff are and so having that lighting to walk back to the parking lot for a safety mhm standpoint would be nice now it is an alternate because we also recognize like there is some lighting in the parking lot so that provides a little something there no that makes sense will you still be able to drive a vehicle down there I mean it's not made for that don't get me wrong if people but say you're doing equipment can you drive down there and deal with staff can drive theic yeah General reservations no right no I mean the cops have always gone through there and things like that I mean it's a it's a safety thing for getting back there but if but if everything's done you're cleaning up you could have your vehicle down there still once this is done yes cuz that pathway would still be egg sure about that even after development of Paving the trails they would be able to withstand the weight of a vehicle a vehicle anyway for maintenance yeah okay what about lighting where the trail will be crossing the road into the park I guess with yeah I mean with is that a safety issue or I mean would that be handled as part of adding The Crossing itself that's a very good question because truthfully I don't know what lights are there if any mhm is there a street there one there might be a street light although I'd have to look again at its placement in relative to where the crossing that's a good question that may have a Three Rivers standard it would be good if it's it's their standard then then then we'd put it in and they'd reimburse it so that's fine okay yep will will so the lighting is is in the optional category is the wiring going to go in and the conduit at least or well the the Cobra lights in the parking lot will be in the Bas but the um we did talk about in conduit up to the ball fields in the base bid if we don't uh install the lighting the space so the conduit is there for future this will be the time to put it in [Applause] yeah so uh building has remain r the same as the last time you saw it but walk through it uh on the right hand side of the east side is a large Gathering or meeting space uh depicted in Orange the entry is also in Orange off the south side and there's a hallway that connects to the support spaces uh the the brown black is storage um and there storage spaces dedicated to basically the major functions of the building there's the one on the east hand side which supports the large space there is the one in the kitchen which would support the kitchen and there is another larger one that would supports some outdoor storage but primarily mechanical electrical and other uses within the building and the blue are all restrooms those restrooms are delineated um interior exterior and both uh there are two interior only uh located right off that hallway in the middle one exterior only which is in the upper left hand corner and then one that can be accessed from both the interior and exterior in the uh lower left hand corner um some things that that have changed on this plan are we've had identified some alternates uh in in light of the ongoing dialogue about the budget we have identified the operable partition the space was to be separated into two spaces possibly with one the upper half uh being approximately 60 people and the lower half being 30 people and that would be able to be split in access directly off the vestibule or going through the vestibule um that that partition is going to be b as an alternate now um the other thing that's been removed is there were two large overhead doors on both the North and South Side those have been replaced with additional glass as you'll see in the renderings later the overhead doors were glass now there's more traditional window sty glass and just a little feedback on that part of that came from how often are we really going to use those doors um if someone is renting the space the likelihood that we're going to give them the access to open and close those doors specifically probably slim to none otherwise we're going to have to have someone on site to ensure that they get shut too with the other doors it's easy to program them to lock and such these become a lot more challenging and it was a cost saving option while still keeping the nice natural light yeah the views and axis are still there it's just in a little bit different form more manageable the park is also a little buggy sometimes do is there we don't have any double doors that enter act like is there sufficient there's the access kitchen entrance the kitchen entrance is double door there's a double door to the mechanical storage um kitchen access is a single door okay oh um this is a partition to outside yeah there's a open counter to both the exterior and the interior service from the kitchen to is there okay I was just thinking if there's any reason you'd want some double door access somewhere to even bring in tables initially or equipment or we think this is Al so we'll have the double doors for storing the tables and such are you talking about just if yeah as the city needs to bring in set this up or change out I just want to make sure there's enough access to bring in and change equipment as we needed or it's a good consideration I think because previously you know we had the overhead doors to rely on bringing larger things in and out and and maybe that's been overlooked a little bit once we got rid of the overhead doors so we'll try to take a look at what might be coming in and out we were obviously concerned with what kind of mechanical equipment might be coming in and out of that room so we included a double door but maybe we do need to include something or another way to or you have it through double door like in the middle there does the door have to be located on this northern part or could it be right here where it's a double door I think it can I think do a little wall space but I think it might be worth it in the end yeah just to provide that kind of flexibility in the future yeah it's a very good observation I'll walk through those double doors and every time you do this is mine I think that I might go with a inside baseball but I might go with a partial double door where one of them's a 3ot traditional door and the other one's just a twoot leaf that's inoperable just give you a 5 foot4 because you're never you're not going to be using those double doors a lot but when you need them you're going to need them one will be a fixed leak and one will be an operable leak and the other alternate that we identified that was kind of large was on the right hand side there's a large covered area you'll see that in the rendering that that whole that whole piece is an alternate now I'm sorry which piece yeah so the can you go two slides the whole right hand side with the covered area Okay the exterior covered area on this slide you this is the updated rendering so not we have that piece that we have identified with as an alternate which was part of the previous design uh in the previous meeting we talked about if you remember there was a gray option and a natural option and a red option um the feedback I took away from that meeting was that the natural was strongly preferred so it's a a natural he treated Ash the other big piece of input from a design standpoint was some sort of horizontal element breaking up the left hand volume the wall was quite tall and because of the nature of that side of the building with all the restrooms and the mechanical there wasn't a lot of room for articulation from Windows and Doors and that kind of thing so um we tried to use a value added item where we provided a small canopy over most of those doors on the left hand side uh two of which serve restrooms and two and one of which serves the mechanical room which we just talked about it's a little additional cover and provides that horizontal element breaking up the facade on both the front back and side facing the park on the right hand side in this rendering you're seeing those overhead doors are gone and we replace it with glass in kind with the rest of the curtain wall on on the North and South sides any questions on the building remind me those door the glass doors they will open up on both ends or is that no either end they used to are you talking about this part right here yeah so that was what we were talking about the overhead doors got taken out okay partially because of bugs partially because of cost and partially because of security yeah maybe you could go up to the uh elevations that shows the windows oh another thing we talked about the last meeting too was trying to add some upper and obscured glass at the restrooms to bring a little bit of natural light the restroom so you're seeing that on the the top elevation and in the back elevation on the far right that's into the exterior only restroom makes sense yeah and again another way just to break up what was kind of a plain facade on on those sides those three windows on that side that's great I gu in looking at that the last one I'm wondering if there's any any way to do any sort of just like Landscaping on the other side of the glass then right so it's not just like glass and then cement you know you're inside the building and there's just a little more nature kind of right up to the windows or something like that yeah like right there like here just a little little bit of landscaping or something leave out the concrete put in dirt and like a raised bed or something yeah just to give it a little more there's no access there gives you that opportunity something to consider a little more nature the Garden Club would love it so let me ask a followup question if we don't have the overhangs yet as part of the first phase like this one mhm do we lose kind of I mean I suppose do you really want people standing there if you're having an event probably not so that would probably be a good way to buffer that buffer yeah just standing there looking in or if anyone's looking for an entrance if they're not familiar it's a good visual way to kind of deter them from that's true plus it' be good for snow snow removal too just keeping any type of Maintenance away from the bottom of the windows I get since this is our our really only Civic building as a public space used to be here but that's that's gone is are there sort of standard numbers to say how many square feet do you need for a thousand people I'm just wondering how big will corkin be when we say that is too small yeah per code and I think per common sense it tends to work out pretty well okay it's one of those areas of code that I kind of agree with is that five to seven square foot per person standing and then 15 Square fet per person for movable tables and chairs okay I think you're asking based on population I'm asking yeah so so that would tell how many people can occupy it are there any any sort of you know rules of thumb for saying if a city is 10,000 people their Public Access space should be at least this many square feet de feat some way to to say I'm my my concern is always when we built this city hall it felt really big we had some space we were in out now we're not all that much bigger but there's no no public space here anymore and so my concern would be we'll have this it'll be there for you know 5 years or 10 years and then we'll say why did we make such a small building sure you know I can touch on that a little bit too um so you make a good point we're growing out of this building and I think that's quite apparent I know that council is exploring what that looks like in the future and Civic campus planning as part of that I would imagine that they will include additional Gathering spaces I wouldn't Envision this being the only public gathering space in the future how soon that I don't know couldn't tell you entirely I'm not pry to that but I think that we have more opportunity to get more spaces but I think it's a good question to ask yeah I mean we do have some other some other parks and some other places that we can we can put buildings for sure the feedback I've received over the years is that once you reach kind of that critical mass in terms of population you run into so many scheduling conflicts that it becomes advantageous to have more facilities available because there's so much competition for the popular dates could this be added on to at any point it would be easy to add on to both the North and the South from a building standpoint and I think to the south from a site standpoint to some degree North little could we um have some areas uh for like some plantings so like against that wall be nice to have some tall grasses or Vines going up so when we're pouring the concrete we could leave a little planting area on that side maybe the other side too against both the windows you mean the big ends well I'm thinking on the left side there so up against the wood that would look good yeah I don't know about against the glass I mean you probably could on the ends yourself that would look good so that was the discussion a little bit ago was putting Planters and the vegetation there yeah I would hesitate putting it here too much because you do have kind of some seating options and a little bit of overhang it could be like just big planters too yeah and those can be a later addition too okay okay since we're taking the overhang off of the right side there is there a way to consideration to make it longer on the other side because that's the side that faces the park right in the bathroom yeah like would it be longer we get to keep the one the right we're it as an alter give us some okay in the event that we lose that yeah would there would all that space still be paved as well I believe so think okay that's good see could use I guess more temporary shade or Furniture type shading uh in that area in L of it I think big umbrella [Applause] TN I'm just glad we're keeping the building we got to have the building it's good we'll keep going and we can always go back if there's all right so uh the playground we have um reduced the size the overall size of the container a little bit we've tried to stay as far away from that Southeast ball field as much as possible we've moved the alternative zipline container to the far north of the container so so that will be an alternate however we're not bidding the playground since we have quotes for it so it's just a decision of whether or not that will be purchased and installed overall though we're keeping the farm agriculture theme we're keeping uh embankment slides we've added another embankment slide along the east side based on city council Direction uh we have kept the two Bridges and we've made a few adjustments in both containers to the equipment so we'll look at those in the next few slides so this was these slides show the previous design and then when we get to the one that says additional Hillside so this is something that we've looked at adding uh there's a request from city council to add a Roller Slide um but we talked to the vendor about that and due to the engineered wood fiber the wood chips that can get gunged up and so we just added a large SL a large Hills slide which you can see on the right side you have multiple kids going down at one time so uh hoping that will suffice for adding slide to the embankment yeah I would agree some of the roller slides even around here get wood chips in them and they yeah like yeah they're just slides at that point that are bumpy yeah oo sers uh okay so the next slide shows we talked about a higher Tower slide which was in one of the other vendor designs uh the slide only would be $20,000 additional and it would require additional engineering a larger footing to accommodate uh we did talk about some other playgrounds French playground French Park was the one that was referenced as an example for this one um for reference uh I had it in the packet this is the slide at 13 feet point8 feet sorry 13.8 feet because they don't do it by inches um that is still taller than the French Park SL so if that makes a difference Tom's the First on it I can see it if that's the win that we're looking for then I think that we've accomplished it without having the slide up higher that additional cost in not only equipment but also footings engineering costs Etc I also think and I don't have kids so you guys tell me if I'm wrong but that sounds really scary 18 feet seems very tall awesome granted yeah older kids would probably love it right but but it's pretty high would that represent like any safety issues or anything like that so that's where the engineering and such came into play because of I think he said winds and just stability of the the other issue is the taller you get and I don't want to say this on public record but kids are going to climb probably on the outside of the slide and you move it up any higher I mean they'll climb on the inside the outside the and so you move it up to 18 ft that's a lot yeah but I I'd rather spend that 20,000 on something else in them like an overhang yeah on the side of the building so we're recommending keeping the existing 13.8 foot slide on the next slide I know he wanted it you know this is I have even without the the 13f footer 18f footer you still four slides in the view two two bridges yeah that's good m is that the same slide as the hill the one on the right in this picture yes same style what okay so there would be two of those it may be okay I'm just thinking of that yeah there's reason to do something different with that one since we red one okay yeah yeah if you have specific quests we can go to the vendor because they have their catalog of all the pieces that we could switch it take a sled almost all right so then we looked at the 2 to 5-year-old area and the far left side shows um what was in the um one of the other vendor designs with the longer ramps and adding that to this playground might cost of 75,000 and so on the right we showed a couple other options in the center image is some corn stocks and Tiller ground level Play features not sure about this option since we're using uh wood chips and not poured in place so it might not have the same effect Los some of the aesthetic not a lot of play value with that on the right we're showing some Cube climbers which could look like a tiller maybe and so that would be sure what you're seeing but okay geometric in the bottom right corner there's some of those hay bales which are like steps or climbers um those I think were actually used in that example playground from Colorado that we had show so any input on is there there any in between like the thing I liked the most in the entire packet was that tractor with the playground behind it but I understand that that's a pretty involved that one is very complicated like even something that gets at that thought where you have a couple things behind the tractor even though they just a raised little player and I the middle one to me I don't think that kids are going to think they're going to get hurt on that thing rather than play on that thing but well we could I mean there is is still with other areas where we're looking at cutting we could look at that potentially and then when we talk about funding that potential Grant there's if there's a strong preference for the farle ramps and shades we will consider that the shades I don't it's not the Shad it's just the the concept of you have this tractor with a couple things behind it that they're pulling on that the kids can kind of play as a whole assembly rather than just a one tractor to get up and down on so I something get at that same feel doesn't have to be as does this that at all with having it behind the tractor it's a climber no to me no that seems something else I want to note so we're looking at a two to five area and in speaking with my friends who have kids it sounds like kids don't hang out on the 2 to five very long it's it ends up being a lot of like like 1 to three year olds they grow out of it very quickly so the amount of use that this playground is going to get probably more from like the bigger kid side because even the three-year-olds I was told tend to gravitate towards those areas because they get adventurous and then they get kind of bored of the smaller area that being said I again do not have children so I'll let you make what you will of that but there might be more value in adding something smaller and then focusing on that bigger area my own my thought against that was does it really have to be two separate areas then can we save by just making it one larger one and put a more complicated tractor piece there I don't know is there requirement though to have two separate wild flow is one with a little oh I see what you're saying in the same container not like connecting the no just like got it cuz the more we strip back it just seems a little look a little funny where you have this kind of very sparse two to five and then a really dense older it was just a thought when I was looking at I was like there's any way to eek out a little well this tractor though is I went back a few pages of 21 or whatever the tractor is in the little kids area correct right yes and really the only thing separating them though is the is the walkway right but we're probably paying I would assume it's more expensive to have two separate areas than one mhm so this is going to be your 2 to five with the walkway in between right and then your big area and then zip line my head was going to just kill off that walkway merge them and have a little bit bigger of an area save some money in how we're laying it out and we're able to have a few more features if we keep talking about if you're picturing a pretty strip down two to five but so if you go to go to the next slide yeah that one yeah so this shows that tractor does have a slide coming off of it and you can climb through the front wheels and I think you can climb and through the yeah I like the tractor so we couldn't make just that and the swing up that space and make that container much smaller it has the slide what about say placing more of those faux hay bales just throughout I mean I two to five like you said one to three really right one to three year olds how much does design matter versus just having something to climb on or run around or whatever I mean that might be a good way to I don't want to say use up space but use use up space without maybe investing quite as much I can see little hay bales behind that tractor a like a couple series of them like different stack heights yeah maybe getting at that similar idea mhm toer those I don't have my glasses on didn't it say those are like Steps yeah they're transfer station so they're concrete oh they concrete must have bigger I'll take out the new [Laughter] teeth good luck okay back here I looked it up because I didn't know just out of curiosity on those corn stocks and tillers what do you I mean what do you do what do you do little there's not a lot of make it so you can't let take your eyes off your kitten pain painful shins and tripping okay yeah just so these are glass fiber reinforced concrete okay I doesn't play structure not so much maybe makes more sense in like your 5 to 12 area yeah two to five would make me a little nervous um your response to this is kind of the staff Viewpoint as well staff and I think consultant too it was like without the port in place it really kind of loses that aesthetic a little yeah I mean that age is like it's like find motor skills right so the top left to you know commissioner ur's point is like just having something to move a little more around on whereas the middle things and even the top right um kind of look at me walk across just doesn't give it yeah you know something to they're more something to get stuck in yeah yeah bring the catalog we'll look at it yeah I don't disagree like a i' like yeah see something's just minimal behind the tractor would go a long way in my mind so even if it's like I understand why you'd recommend the hay bale cubes I wouldn't those seem a little off but something of that in that vein but maybe something softer yeah yeah doesn't have to be complicated just that's good be better though if it's if we're heading in the right direction with one of these tell us that MH okay we will look more into that okay so next we have the bridges so there's request from city council potentially make one of the bridges a different surface we talked with the vendor about that since it's so high up there aren't a lot of options there is an option to put in the arch bridge um but that might look a little odd with a segment of level bridge and then an arch bridge we did talk about the option to make the um posts different on one of the bridges otherwise they'd be the same surface so it provides that accessible Loop how much more is it for the arch Bridges if we did them both that way uh oh both just for one oh I think it would be 10,000 each so 20 and the vendor was almost saying like he had talked briefly about two kind of bridges one after another there were concerns with this way it's Ada accessible too parents can walk and get their kids really easy I think he said it was 12 feet wide per bridge that or the length is 12 it it's wide enough to fit a wheelchair so it's accessible in that fashion too is the other one not this one yeah do uh it's not going to be long enough so you're either going to have an up and then a flat or I think two yeah or 20,000 that's a lot um so alternatively there was conversation about changing the colors of like the railings there was also conversation of pole Toppers um um like themed pole Toppers if we could find like corn cobs or something we do one of those that moves a little bit or is that a safety thing nope that's a safety thing so Bridges at this height require additional enclosure and Tighter gaps how far off the ground did he say this was like 9 or 10t I think and so it was that's a big well yeah but the ropes are going to be close to get it but I yet some kid fell one day and now we can't have open one day like all the [Laughter] 90s yes playgrounds have gotten much safer each year there's more safety considerations is there a preference towards any of the options of like pole Toppers color change pole Toppers if we could make it look more farmy you know that's why I like the the wood there but if it's going to cost 20 grand I don't I don't know if it's worth I like is it the wood slats that you like the vertical slats or is it the shape of the bridge like the arch well I like the arch gives the kids more things to do but if it makes it harder to access but the wood looks nice too there is one Arch Bridge if you look at the right side of that render one there yeah where would this other one go if we wanted to replace one of the straight Bridges with an arched Bridge we can do that but it would be segment second one there too kind of right under that Silo oh yeah in the middle can you remind me did we have to have two Bridges here no we added two so that it would be a loop so it would be a loop so we made that okay is that bada right and they could go in go out and otherwise whatever something a wheelchair or stroller or something would have to go in and then just back up or right turn around in a small area yeah I do like the idea of changing the color um and maybe exploring wood slots instead of the metal rail just as an aesthetic choice my head was going could you just do one but do a nicer one one nicer Bridge well does the Long Bridge rails have to be white I mean they could be green or something could they aren they just power coded mhmh so changing the color of the post he said was free yeah on and when you say post do you mean rails yeah like this the uprights and then the crossbar okay for the long Brides um the changing the color free pole Toppers would cost an additional amount but not as much as like adding an arch bridge and how many poles are there you think I mean I see two probably four four six eight four on each side mhm if that's a choice otherwise you know I mean it looks white up there but you know if you change it to oh green or red or maybe it's yellow in this picture and the yellow doesn't looks more like corn alternatively you could even just have them be at the entrance um in the discussion it was like oh maybe we take the corn Bridge or we take the soybean [Laughter] Bridge do they have soybean Toppers break I I like that you're thinking sunflowers I can see sunflowers sunflowers yeah sunflowers that's awesome there we go much better suggestion I don't know how uh obvious beans would be I don't know what a soybean looks like we do that learn I do like the idea of having two different whether it's color schemes or themes or what have you I mean just to make it a little more interesting so Barry and the bridge I think two Bridges is really cool I I agree giz I think maybe yeah they would they'll run around do one in red one in green throw each other across figure it out the bridges we could do one in green one in red to keep the theme together if we want different kind of bridges do we want something maybe not as difficult for folks who might be colorable [Laughter] do we have any Braille on I mean maybe that doesn't matter right but they're used to it now yeah right no one's really looking out for them like a blue and a red or well we want it to be aesthetic right right something that fits in the theme but why are you no okay although sometimes when I'm golfing I don't know we'll see other thoughts on the bridges yes more really cool okay so then we as long as we're painting the gray the gray beams tow or whatever posts well no the bridges are built on them yeah all those can we just change those too to green and red I'm assuming they're not just great and are you talking only on the bridge or are you talking throughout because there's other posts throughout that are all going to be green or all appear to be gray so then you're kind of like on the barn where they go up you can see yeah those yeah those are probably nice to be green on the bar or on The Silo I would think so but that's kind of a preference I don't know remember seeing some of these renderings that looked like way too much color so as long as we're not get approaching just a jumbo that's fine if you if you be consistent yeah yes keep it one or two yeah we'll probably do one more meeting before it's ordered you think soe depending on the grant yeah so we'll have another chance to okay review final design one other consideration from uh staff we are working through a Grant application constantly actually um but this one is through the DNR um outdoor recreation type of Grant we are putting the playground as our request so it might cause a slight pause in the timeline just because if we can get an extra upwards of $350,000 M it's worth it to maybe wait a little bit um so just something to keep in mind we would know by June if we get awarded it's due on the 31st or 30th would we change our plan with that or would we save money and put it elsewhere so I'm just saving money is a concept um but we still need to meet the amount of money that we need so that's where we're applying for other grants is like to meet that in funding piece that we still have to get to and we'll get into more of that okay I'm just asking why wait if it wouldn't change what we would do because we couldn't or we couldn't use the funding from the grant to order if we've already started until it's awarded so if we can't let okay if the grant was awarded re you can't reimburse ourselves after okay you have to wait to spend the money until the nice thing is that with the Federal funding money that we have um we've already done a lot of like the state historic preservation office uh AR Arch archaeology and all of that fun stuff that goes with the federal stuff we've worked through a lot of that which would be requirements of this if we are awarded the grant so it should hopefully move the process along a lot faster which is why we're looking at it as an option and a T-Mobile Grant so if anyone wants to look those over that one's for 50,000 it's a HomeTown Grant cool but if you have any suggestions we'll also take them because we are trying to meet the gaps sponsor yeah so this slide summarizes the three quotes we have from the playground vendor so the one of the left is 800,000 for the existing design so that was what you saw last time in number that does not include the zip line which is an additional 50,000 so that's 850 including the zip line the center option is 757 so that is uh attaching the two structures so you can see in the left there are two separate Tower structures the barn and The Silo in the center option these are connected so you're I think removing one slide in that option and then it's a ler yeah there's no two levels to the botom versus oh yeah that's right so the bar is low and this one does include the zip line so if you take that out this would be 77,000 there's an additional swing Bay in this option and then the 2 to five area is a little bit smaller so you can see there's not the single Play features and then on the far right 700,000 with the zip line so if we take the zip line out it would be 650 that includes uh remove moving the barn so the structure where the barn is is pulled into it and then you just take off the barn and make it just a roof simple roof structure this also includes the reduced 2 to 5year Old area and the additional swing Bay so the reduced 2 to five means we're getting rid of the Standalone animal that were in the first picture and it's a smaller y it's just the tractor but include those Cube climbers behind the tra sure so there are lots of mix and match options we didn't want to ask the playground Fender to give us every possible option but if there are specific features that we W included we can ask him to quote you didn't we discuss or was brought up that zip lines kind of go to heck quick I do remember that was it Council that I mean they might have put it in there but we still have't I mean I've seen the bigger ones tend to last longer I've seen a lot of those at big playgrounds that last I think the old ones that were shorter tended to break pretty quickly but even those at school like you know my kids go to Northwoods that little zipline thing doesn't even budge they have to like push push each other across and that's a pretty new school that just built it like two years ago so we're not sold on the zipline I person person Al am not if just due to Prior discussion I have not been on one so I don't you know I can't and you know they only allow I mean when I've seen them at a lot of playgrounds there's usually a line because it's only one person at a time whereas the other structures kids can run around and do the C so especially if oh sorry I just and how many were on this one two just two I was just going to say especially if the new design is to have that um the zip line farther up on the North right so it wouldn't even be in that same container right would we exclude that whole container then if we don't zipline yeah and that saves us the 50,000 okay the whole container not just the zip line the product yeah okay so that' just be more grass for for now my only thought get out our zip line later yeah my thought I thought there when I saw that first with the zip line Way North it's like you wanted as a parent you want all the view of your kids like right there right versus stretched out really far soe be if you have all ages you know yeah taking that zipline out of the equation might save more condensed but but of those three though I do like the the barn attached to the main structure to just keep a whole continuous place to run keeps the theme the barn can't be up higher if it's attached not sure that's okay that's a good question I think in order to make the bridge fit with the rest of the design it helps oh okay probably the angle of the bridge would be cuz if we eliminated say we're an option to here if we eliminated the zip line we could if you wanted up the 2 to 5y- old and possibly get the additional you know swing too or some little swings in the one to threey Old two to five whatever it is you know a little bucket swing for the little ones that makes sense to me you know maybe just a couple when have to be a whole rack full but I've gone back and forth I do like the twostory barn in that first option that looks like the kids would enjoy it the silo or the two the barn bar yeah I do too but also connect having them connected too I think is a good idea yeah I mean if that's a possibility how much taller is the the barn and when it's separated oh I see what you said yeah about another level there's enough room that um an additional slide fits underneath so it turns into like a twostory play structure yeah and that's that's cheaper than attaching no no attached is cheaper because it's not as high not as high oh I see yeah I'd also like to note uh this part confused me a little bit this Blue Roof is actually a steel roof so that was kind of a nice added little detail or like metal I still play Under The Barn in the middle one I don't think you can play Under The Barn in the first one maybe all right true that's I'll tell [Laughter] you so it sounds like you guys are leaning between these two does that help if I zoom it in at all MH the this sounds weird but I'm going say it the only thing I see with the the first one with the separated ones and you got I don't know your 8-year-old and 10-year-olds over here and they're being bullies and they like go play over there kind of thing well it happens these days you know where if it's attached they really can't send too far just a thought it might be kind of gradual that way too I mean if the two to five then you move into kind of this area and then it gets even bigger I can see the view point now if we keep the cheaper Barn remove the zipline we could still get our slide higher I told you was the one we're GNA vote on that one yeah everyone think about your top two priorities and then next time before we order it we can reincorporate what about reducing the swings we can get it I think it be I mean have have we talked about reducing the swings at all swings are so powerful yeah are they are so it's an add-on to have those swings but we have other swings this one has four Bays of swings which one or is this only has three Bays of swings so six total eight total how much extra is that for the because you're making the bay bigger too no it fits in our footprint it does but in the original these upper ones there aren't any swings so you kind of need them right people do like swings M but I mean say we went with I never saw swings in there but maybe they were to the side and I was looking too close on the barns in The Silo but I don't know if there was a big picture with so it looks like I'm looking at these three options you oh there's one an $800,000 option and a $700,000 option and $750,000 option are are are are those all in the real of possibilities for for actually getting with the Park yeah that's good question what's now we're on to money right no that's legit come this the total [Applause] okay nice now we can I don't think we need to go over region Trails we already talked about the plan is to um rough grade we might be able to pave the full Trail based on good come in it we're looking at the estimate um it might be able to be done within that 500,000 for the first year the alternate items that we have right now are the pave Trail oh sorry next slide uh the pave Trail so the t-shaped trail through the C field we identifying that as an alternate potato All The Pedestrian lighting which would be around the building the playground would be an alternate and then Paving the pole parking lot and then next slide goes to city council Direction so on February 13th we presented five different scenarios to the city council with a variety of options ultimately city council Direct Ed us to combine scenarios 1B and 2 a so the desire was to include the full building we had explored some options for potentially building half the building to save some money and taking out some of the trails some of the parkings some of the playground features Flash Pad ultimately full building and the full playground were desired and so in order to accommodate that with the funding that the city has we looked at minimally Paving the parking lot uh civil is still working on final grading plans so those fields to the West we're hoping to include that however our estimate is over the funding which is why we're looking at the Outdoor Rec grant that Jess is working on if you go to the next couple slides please show the two scenarios that we presented so we did include in scenario 1B not grading any of those fields so a lot of that Earth moving that's required for creating those soccer fields and Cricut area that's a large amount of budget for that so we explored all of the different uh estimates for the different features ultimately if you go to the next slide one no the one after this one the cost estimate that we have right now uh you can see the large buckets that we're lumping our estimates in so mobilization traffic control that's an assumption for about 5% of the overall construction cost so that's at 281,000 removals so that's all the removals I went through earlier in the presentation to accommodate the construction that's at about $100,000 we did talk about potentially looking at City staff approvals but right now we're including this all in our estimate erosion control is about 58,000 the earth work so that includes a lot of the grading of those fields uh grading for the playground and the parking lot that's at 250,000 right now site restoration is 71,000 so that's uh vegetation ground cover grass for all the site it's being regraded site Paving is at 600,000 so this assumes the 50 stalls that smaller area closer to the building uh storm water that grading and soil Corrections is at 330,000 sanitary sewer and water main 122 and 18,000 those are needed for the building electrical work is at about1 ,000 site Furnishings were just including an allowance for 40,000 so benches are between, 1500 picnic tables are usually around $2,000 uh Landscaping s would be trees and landscaped areas around the building that would be at 60,000 uh the three District three Park District Trail is a 500,000 so we're estimating that that includes the full Paving and Boardwalk is that our cost or is that up front Cost needs to be paid or paid for by the city and so the reimbursement wouldn't occur until next year and so that's why we're including that do we know how much the reimbursing then 5 up to $525,000 in 2025 and then $525,000 in 2026 plus up to 15,000 towards the design uh I want to say we're at like maybe five or six grand for design at that point so all of those items would be included in that first bid package and then next is the building which we have 2.8 million that would be a second bid package times do you have any comments uh no I mean I I would have to run it every day the prices are so volatile right and then the playground is identified as a direct purchase so so that's that's the cost that we know the best because we have the quote from the vendor so um all of the other costs above our estimates at this point sorry sorry sorry I don't even know how to turn it off so the sub total for all of those items is about 6.3 million or including a 5% contingency about 300,000 and then the design engineering is 800,000 um I don't know how much of that has already been paid for maybe 300,000 250 to 300 and then the total project cost 7.4 million so the existing funding right now I is about five3 Park dedication is at about 5.1 it's about 975,000 in external funding including the Three Rivers so short anywhere between 400,000 to about 800,000 depending on how you're looking at it and the front loading of the money to cover like the three river side of things but then we're keeping our fingers crossed on that big grant that we're applying for so it's a lot of fluid moving pieces but I promise you we are trying to find funding anywhere we can you always do so if you go to the next slide you can see our bid package one which would be all the site work we estimating at about 2.6 million and then the second bid package would be the building estimated at about 2.8 million playground direct purchase so that could occur later potentially in July that would be 850,000 so if that Outdoor Rec Grant is awarded for the full 350,000 then it would be 500,000 city funding and then the design and Engineering below that so we say that the playground's 850,000 is that taking into account I guess which which plan the exis 800,000 that's the highest cost so I mean we could trim them almost $100,000 off of that so because we're short is that am I reading that right city council was leaning towards 1B and 2 a which would put our budget at 5.2 to 6.9 is that the direction the direction was to combine those two to find the solution that meets the full building the partial parking lot the full playground good that and then we were going to come back with the updated costs as much as we could value engineer the cost and cut where we can and it's been meetings between the Consultants myself the playground staff trying to find anywhere we can really make Cuts without it having a really big impact on the overall Park quality how much was our splash pad that we took up 800,000 800 I guess so I mean the 850,000 for the playground purchase I'm just thinking right if if we're going back to through the options I through our options you look you mean option two without the zip line right then we're at 77 roughly I mean is that factoring in everything from you know when it comes to the purchase of the playground that cost yep that includes the Surface sales tax everything like yeah and that's where my thoughts are if you're trying to trim and we have a pretty limited 2 to five area combining those might help even a little more but if you have the reduced K so plan for it to be cheaper and if we get that Grant we come back to it still no because we're still short funding this is making up that Gap I turned it off so told you I didn't know how of the council members I will off off Commissioners yeah commission can I move commission I'm sure you I wouldn't recommend all right make a motion turn off her phone I usually leave it in the vehicle but you noticed I was late so I'm sorry so if we got the grant that would go a long way in helping us just meet our spending so so we're about 400 to 800 short and if we get the grants up to what' you say 350 upwards of 350 and we cut 100 off the playground we potentially don't have a budget shortfall potentially right well I'll I will stress that those costs for bid packages one and two are estimates so we don't it's not really big it's not guaranteed sure yeah those aren't the real cut and it changes daily like you said we get closer with each stage but until we hit that bid point it's hard to have the finalized numbers so are you looking for us to see what else we can cut or you just want us to say no we really want that I'm looking for a recommendation on what you're looking for out of the playground specifically if it's the two level if it's the one level okay and the parking lot that we're Paving par paring how much is are spend on that it's said the only reason like I get that there's an ordinance or something but we're literally saying well we want to build a parking lot and they're telling ourselves well no we really can't build that parking lot so if that can save us another hundred grand because we can PVE it all later I don't know that makes more sense to me so you're saying the paving any ping to just keep the gravel parking lot is or is there any design in which you have handicap parking spots paved and when it's gravel you can mark your spot like I'm missing something I know but here's here's my other Cav thinking instead of 50 very nice building okay it's muddy outside it's Farm themed out go back to that your gravel lot but having a quarter of the lot paved isn't going to help that much necessarily when 34s are all mud anyways I don't I think you leave the paving in for bid if it were if you're looking for a recommendation from the staff level I would say you leave the paving in at least as a bid option and then if it comes back too high I mean then it's a discussion but I think that is beyond my level that would be a conversation with Natalie of is this even acceptable if we don't pay at all yeah we're giving I think when you make improvements though you have to meet a certain standard especially with the building I think was my understanding it was the building that made us have to PVE I think a portion okay and there are inter intermediaries between paved and gravel there's like in like class five it's like some sort of rock that's muddy less muddy but it's like a recycled kind recycled as yeah recy crushed granite yeah just I don't know semi gravel synonymous so the consensus of the of the council is that even though this is a long-term investment we should not be even thinking about bonding this seems like it' be a classic thing you do bonds for that's what I can say um but the but the I I think that was discussed by the council and that there were some strong opinions that this is not the time for corkin to be increasing our bonding load is that that is my understanding of the direction from Council and I mean this is like trying to pay cash for a house yeah some people can do it but most of us can't this is going to we're going to live with this for the next you know 30 years it seems pretty appropriate to pay for it over the next 20 years and I there there certainly can be reasons why we don't want to do that but there's just my feeling is is is that thinking that we're going to have more money to spend next year well no we will have more money but the cost will be more I just I'm not sure that we we gain much by putting by postponing and and you know that's good good reasons I I I'll take I'll take their word for it but it just seems it goes counterintuitive to what I kind of think of the way we should be funding funding Park the other concern is this Burns our Park dedication to zero and we have other it does commitments that we want to bring forward to we are anticipating about a million come in over the course of the year not that that yeah yeah right after seeing how much it costs to build a park I think we all know but well and and yeah you know Bell weather Park is much much bigger but we don't have to do the whole thing we can do a a chunk of the Bell weather Park yeah and I think people we're going to get the most use out of this Central Park more people are going to come and use it so I'm okay using the money we have on this versus saving it for other Parks it is a point to be made that we're going zero we don't have a good answer no no I just but to Tom's point it is hard to make these decisions when we don't know the full picture right like okay we're $300,000 over 400,000 well we have a grant coming in we got more funds coming in like I don't know it seems silly to like if the building wasn't big enough which apparently it is but why would we make it smaller like you were saying earlier when we can just pay a little extra now so I don't know if we can get that message to city council but message specifically about bonding or if we could have more information on the financial side then I think we could have better discussions around what do we really want and what is that costing us what information specifically are you well the bonding would be great to know like why why aren't we bonding more like what is our bond rating so that it got it just got moved up to something it's like a double A I want to say I that's pretty great I've got our good Bond rating yeah and I get we don't want to lose that Bond rating but what do we we talking about half a million dollars to finish this project off I mean when you Bond like you're going to ask for a lot more than half a million but I don't think it would if you guys have particular opinions while I'm happy to bring them to council I think that it has more value if you have big feelings about it and would like to send them an email I'm happy to relay the information thank you that's really appropriate makes but I do think that if you have strong feelings ultimately I am a staff and I can try and provide as much recommendation but you all do live here so if you have big feelings about it I would highly recommend emailing them that's a good point certainly all of the all of the council members are open to receiving public input they you know they really are so I guess and you know one of them better than the rest of them more than likely yeah they're constituents so yeah Absolut I understand the frustration I'm trying to give you the best yeah I know I appreciate but we don't feel that we're getting close we're getting closer and closer like you're saying we're not we can see the light at the end of the tunnel but how do we finish getting there right if there are other items that you would like us to include as alternates I would recommend that just see in our office we've opened a few bids this year that come good so I would say that if you would like yeah not but if you would like us to include additional alternates we can do that can we talk about the splash pad speaking of an alternate that is isn't listed what was the splash pad is not in this discussion at all um it came down to basically do you want a splash pad or do you want a playground okay and so it seems unless you have a had a different Vision it was kind of like a one or the other because they were about the same price and which one are you getting more out of I think long term it makes sense to do the playground um partially because with the trail route the Regional Trail you're taking out the playground that's on that North Side so that goes away so the park would be without a playground um and also you need decent weather for a splash pad kids will play in the rain on a playground yeah no I I think that that's I I agree that that's the first priority but I know that the splash P hour rates really high on public import and if we if we happen to find 800 if somebody wins the lottery and leaves us with a million dollars yeah that would be that would be that would be great I I personally don't understand Splash P but then I'm old try it you might like it um but where we had the location for the splash pad it's still there it'll just yeah we're holding the space okay okay and will any the okay so the piping does not have to go in at any the piping will go in actually for the water and every all the water St in the water all the stuff okay we're taking as many forward step approaches as we can without so that would potentially reduce the cost of future adding of the SPL splash pad maybe if the infrastructure is sort of sure sure then you got inflation and that'll offset it I think it's a nice P for the money we spent we've got listed here I think we've done done nice work sort of the quirer and standards I this is not this is not pouth it's not nle Grove we like that but the slide's bigger than French Park that's right that's right it's pretty Charming it's got that you know that three Rs is putting that path Trail around the edge and that's that's a big deal that's it is you know and I think we we can really celebrate that that's that's a really good thing to have our city park tied into the three river systems way that's just really lucky so you have what you need all right yeah so the last slide just reiterates our schedule again uh so the grant is due March 31st and our next meeting in the next weeks the site plan to still bu the building same timeline so it's pretty exciting has there been any talk about maybe raising funds by I don't know whether it's naming certain things after people who donate [Laughter] or so Yesa has uh see my legacy is a platform that is helping coordinate donations for the par so we're working with them to get things set up to help coordinate our donations we we cannot necessarily go out and advertise because we cannot actively solicit donations there's a very specific way we have to go about it I because my mind jumps to something like you know like the Minnesota Vikings did with the ship and you know like putting someone's name on part of the building or on a walkway or benches or playground or the fields themselves being named at you know taking on a name just really kind of something that someone with a little bit of money might be interested in we're also working um with the corkin soccer association we met with them earlier this week to talk about funding opportunities there um as they're essentially dismantled they don't run the program anymore it's become more of a city thing um with that we were talking about what would what would that look like for what they receive in return there was very brief conversation of like maybe the vestibule of the building gets wrapped that inside with like the history of corkran and like the soccer association and the people that have donated the JC's the Handover Athletic Association all of those kind of almost like a wall of WAP so we're looking at how we can kind of it's a give and take with something like that right I mean the people donating still want some sort of recognition for it too rightfully so and so it's finding that right narrative to go along with it what other information do you two need anything you know we didn't even look at the other uh the other handout all the strong opinions on full EV yeah I can tell you that much uh we also have a survey going on right now if you guys got my plead please send out the Domino survey are we going to talk about that it's weird I looked at it it's the weirdest thing I don't kind of get it so if I don't get it I don't know the survey surve the the wrap thing and colors there was a little confusion to the people that I passed it along to cuz the corkrin logo is the placeholder on the survey yes is that misleading a little okay I can change out the photo one likely so would the general idea be to wrap the entire thing so or would it be just is that that gray box that would be W the whole the whole the entirety of the gr box it'd be more like a mural less like just the Logo put on there I think that's just a I'm sorry on that so we back on the dog survey is that where we're at oh yeah I suppose I have a really can that rail jumped a question it wasn't on there so um dog survey most of the respondents owned at least one dog um many owned two or more the Park visitation with dogs really varied you can see that from the percentages uh the most desired amenities by far were dog was stations which is not surprising offleash areas and water stations um there was some additional request for like agility equipment how I can see the value in it but I don't know how much you'd really want I mean you're not going to be probably putting in a competition style but maybe a nice ramp or something to um 60 66% supported a dog park uh another 20% it was very conditional based on location preferably not in my backyard sure uh that was a lot of the response but some of it was near City Hall City Park or near the bellweather community uh east side of the city which tends to make more sense that's where the development is the smaller lot sizes where the need more than likely is uh funding and maintenance this one was interesting 39% were willing to pay a small annual fee for maintenance 31 are open to the idea or 31% and then 20% said no thanks um but I thought that was an interesting question because if you're going to use it would you be willing to pay for it if other tax players don't want to pay towards that or maybe offset some of the cost um 63 of the respondents are residents two were residents outside of Corran but still in henan County uh mostly adults only households which I thought was interesting comparatively to the city park survey um I do think that it means that we're hitting different groups as well which is nice um but majority 35 to 44 or 65 plus the middle one SW were 45 to 65 I want to say 35 to 44 was the big feedback point from City Park as well which makes sense with the playground and splash bad and children activities and good questions on that more information to come as we have more time to develop more parts and discuss what those opportunities are like good job okay planning project update so okay I can try and answer your questions but you might any questions on that well as far as Domino's goes um it's a drive-thru and walk out only Resturant so you would be able to access the building to make it such so there would not be delivery
