Beginning before Labor Day will allow us to have a more traditional last day of school. So, it's not going so far um into the middle of June. That is not very popular with people.
In order to begin before Labor Day, a school must have at least 400,000 in construction that year and our ongoing regularly scheduled summer maintenance hits that number. So we do believe that we qualify and we will be seeking that waiver so that we can start before Labor Day.
Since 2007, the school board has been approving physical education wafers provided students meet certain requirements.
They have met the requirements required for graduation of the state of Minnesota and you will have the chance to confer those diplomas in a week.
The three board goals, uh, excellence in well-being, connection, and belonging, excellence in student learning and support, and excellence in leadership and organizational support.
We've had a long iterative process for these goals that uh Dr. Getty just well described and I think we've had a lot of opportunities for our own thoughtful consideration of these goals uh in public. Hopefully that interested members have paid attention. I know they have because they've given us some feedback and some and we've incorporated that as much as we can.
Minnesota law provides that during the probationary period, any annual contract with any teacher may or may not be renewed, provided, however, that the school board shall give any such teacher whose contract it declines to renew for the following school year written notice to that effect before July 1st.
So this uh resolution for the school board election uh basically lays out the filing period of July 29th through August 12, 2025. and it sets um and the deadline for that is August 14th, 2025.
Miss Flowers shared that we can have an early start to school if we do more than $400,000 of construction over the given summer, and we have to apply for a waiver from the state. In order to do that construction next summer, we need to sell bonds to the community. You'll notice that tonight's total is $14.2 million.
Uh we are asking for authority to bond and of course uh we are still waiting for uh final Minnesota Department of Education to review our 10-year plan in their format uh as required and they'll give us an approval letter.
