The Competitive Dance team made history by qualifying for the MSHSL state tournament, an honor not achieved in 21 years. Head Coach Megan Row expressed immense pride in her team's dedication. Additionally, both the Boys and Girls Nordic Ski teams saw multiple individuals qualify for the state competition after a season of abundant snow and strong community building.

I'm super excited. This has been an unimaginable year for us. We advanced to the MSHSL state tournament, which is such an incredible honor that has not been reached in 21 years. Our varsity jazz team this year really worked from the beginning of the season to get to this point and I truly am so beyond grateful to coach such amazing young athletes who really pour their hearts into practice every single day.

— Megan Row, Head Coach, Dance Team

Academic Rigor and Innovation

Beyond athletics, Minnetonka students showcased their intellectual prowess. The Debate team had an outstanding season, consistently placing students in the top 10 at every tournament. Four students qualified for the state tournament, and another four earned qualification for the national tournament in Richmond, Virginia.

We were fortunate to place multiple students in the top 10 at every tournament we attended as a team this season. We also are proud to announce that we had four students qualify to the state tournament this winter and another four students qualified for our nationals tournament in Richmond, Virginia this June.

Sophomore Alden Go highlighted the value of collaborating with other professionals and teams, emphasizing the learning about the broader STEM community and professional workspace.

Enriching Curriculum and Inclusive Community

Minnetonka Middle School West (MMW) demonstrated its adaptive and engaging educational environment through a presentation by Principal Fresher Mocker and several students. The school introduced a range of new electives designed to cater to diverse student interests, including Sports History, Forensics, Web Design, Animal Behavior, Financial Literacy, and Fashion Design. Students shared positive experiences, noting the engaging and practical nature of these courses.

In financial literacy, I learned about the basics of taxes, banking, budgeting, insurance, and all the stuff that you use as like a grown-up with like all your money. I thought this class was very helpful and taught us the basics of money in a fun and interesting way.

— Arabel, Student

MMW also emphasized its commitment to belonging and inclusion, reporting high scores in related surveys despite recent institutional changes. The school's 'Women of Color' group was particularly noted for its impactful activities, which included honoring various heritage months like National Latino and Hispanic Heritage Month and National American Indian Heritage Month, and fostering leadership skills among students.

Student voice is central to our program. My role is to listen to what their needs are and then empower them by creating opportunities that are meaningful to them while also helping them develop leadership skills and navigate complex conversations.

— Sonia Warmouth, Student Inclusion and Diversity Adviser

Staff Excellence Recognized

The district also recognized the exceptional contributions of its staff. Jenny Bedurka, Director of Community Education, was honored as one of the learn network's top community education practitioners, a national recognition underscoring the strength and innovation within Minnetonka's community programs.

The meeting concluded with a motion to adopt the agenda, which carried unanimously, reflecting the positive spirit of collaboration and achievement celebrated throughout the evening. The Minnetonka Public Schools continue to demonstrate a vibrant and successful learning environment for all.

Um, but what is unchanged um and what is unchanged is our core beliefs and the tenants of what makes a really great middle school. That hasn't changed. We're a school that needs to be responsive. That needs to be challenging to our students, that needs to be empowering to our students to promote student agency. We need to be equitable to all experiences so every student has equal opportunities for success and achievement. And we need to be engaging for all students.
