[0:00] [Music] [0:02] When I see a kindergarten student, how [0:03] they start the year and how they end the [0:05] year, it is amazing the amount of growth [0:07] that we're able to do with them. And I [0:09] always say my goal is when those fifth [0:11] grade students leave us, I feel [0:12] confident that they're going to be [0:14] successful going forward. [0:16] My family is rooted in education. You [0:19] know, my mother was a teacher for many [0:21] years. Both of my sisters, one is a [0:23] preschool teacher and one is a third [0:25] grade teacher. My uncle was also a [0:27] principal. So, I've kind of lived, [0:28] breathed, grown up in the educational [0:31] world. I first started as a high school [0:33] science teacher. I worked in both New [0:35] York and Minnesota. And I think one [0:37] thing that I love about that is that I'm [0:38] really able to work with each and every [0:40] student in this building. So, I've [0:41] worked in so many diverse environments. [0:43] I've seen education K12. So, I know how [0:46] to support our students now. So, they're [0:48] going to be successful for in high [0:49] school and life after school. The best [0:52] day on the job as a principal, I think, [0:54] is when I'm with kids. when I get to get [0:55] into the classrooms, work with kids [0:57] one-on-one. My vision for Cedar Ridge is [1:00] a place where each kid feels valued when [1:02] they come into this building. You know, [1:03] I might be biased a little bit here, but [1:05] I think we just have the best kids, the [1:07] best teachers, and I think that's [1:08] everywhere in Eden Prairie schools, but [1:10] Cedar Ridge itself, we really focus on [1:12] how do we instruct the whole child cuz [1:14] each student needs something different, [1:16] and our teachers are so dedicated to [1:18] that. And I really think that makes our [1:20] kids really special. I want every kid to [1:23] feel like they belong at Cedar Ridge [1:25] because when students belong, they're [1:27] able to achieve academically, social, [1:29] emotionally. My role at Cedar Ridge is [1:31] to facilitate that with our teachers and [1:33] our students and all of our staff [1:35] members. And then they feel that [1:36] connection. So my vision is we are [1:38] really connected school where each [1:39] student can grow to their fullest [1:40] potential.
