[0:01] Getting to be a principal, I believe, is
[0:03] the greatest job ever. What makes me
[0:05] most excited every morning is knowing
[0:07] that I get to come in and I get to work
[0:08] with my staff and I get to work with my
[0:10] kids. Really spreading joy and a desire
[0:13] to learn and grow.
[0:15] I spent the bulk of my career as a
[0:17] literacy specialist. And so that was a
[0:20] passion and a love early literacy. When
[0:22] kids can read and they see themselves as
[0:24] readers, they know that the world is
[0:26] their oyster and they're pretty excited
[0:27] to go out and try new things. I just
[0:30] really knew that I wanted to have a
[0:31] bigger impact on students and families
[0:33] in education. And so I pursued um my
[0:36] doctorate in educational administration.
[0:39] I was an assistant principal for 5
[0:40] years. Then I moved on to become a head
[0:43] principal. And now at Prairie View, I'm
[0:45] just really excited about meeting and
[0:47] working with the students and the
[0:48] families and the staff and being able to
[0:50] watch the trends and the growth and
[0:52] seeing our students make really big
[0:54] gains in math and literacy. But more
[0:56] than that, also the love of school. My
[0:58] role is to know that this is where we
[1:01] are today and these are our dreams and
[1:03] our hopes for the future. This is where
[1:04] we want to be and how are we going to
[1:06] get there? What tools, what resources do
[1:09] we need? What training do the teachers
[1:11] need? What support do the kids and the
[1:12] staff need? We really create a space
[1:15] where people feel comfortable taking
[1:17] risks and trying new things and
[1:20] believing and trusting in one another.
[1:22] School needs to be a place where we want
[1:23] to be. My very best days are the days
[1:27] where I just get to see all of the
[1:28] amazing things our students are learning
[1:30] and doing and growing and becoming who
[1:33] they are meant to be. Eden Prairie is
[1:35] home and I'm just really excited to be a
[1:37] part of Prairie View in this community.
[1:40] I'm Dr. Heidi Miller, the proud
[1:42] principal of Prairie View Elementary
[1:44] School where we inspire each student
[1:45] every day.
