The HRA moved into a closed session to discuss a revised offer from United Properties. Upon returning to open session, the Chair announced the HRA would not proceed with United Properties' proposal for market-rate multi-family housing. The focus shifted to finding a partner for owner-occupied, attainable housing and maintaining the existing contract with Jester Concepts for a freestanding restaurant.
Notable Quotes (3)
I don't want to see luxury Town Homes here I want to I the concept of affordability is very important for the site it's publicly owned we have a really severe need for affordable ownership opportunities.
The housing Redevelopment Authority has determined that it would not be in favor of continuing that negotiation with United properties for that particular purpose and that the purpose of the HRA at this point in time would be to explore other options.
I would like us to also think about leasing the land not just selling the land but it is HRA land and that could give us more flexibility longterm for owner occupied housing.
