Well, greetings everybody. This is Jim Hufflin, your Adina mayor, and this is the mayor's minute for Wednesday, January 14th, 2026. Uh, you know, this is your chance as a resident of Adina to get involved in some really great things going on in the city. The city is now accepting applications for appointments to several city council advisory commissions as well as the new Fourth of July parade planning task force. Applications are open now through January 19th. No prior experience is required. We're looking for people of all ages, backgrounds, and perspectives. The only requirements are that you're at least 18 years old and live in Edina. Openings are available on the Community Health Commission, Edina Energy and Environment Commission, the Heritage Preservation Commission, Park and Recreation Commission, the Planning Commission, and the Transportation Commission. These volunteer roles begin March 1st, 2026. They last about three years and require an average of four to six hours a month. It's a meaningful way to share your ideas, learn how the city government works, and make a real impact on our community. This year, we're also forming a Fourth of July parade planning task force. This group will be led by past city council member and longtime parade volunteer Mary Brindle, and will help plan and manage one of Edina's most beloved traditions, an event that draws tens of thousands of spectators each year. We need to figure out how to keep that parade going and how to fund it in the future. Meetings on the parade committee will begin in late February and increase as the holiday approaches.
