[0:07] This will be our last meeting of the [0:08] year for these virtual meetings and then [0:12] we'll determine over the winter if we [0:13] continue these next year and if we do [0:16] we'll make updates to the better [0:17] together page and let people know. I also post all the [0:30] slides from the meeting. So, meeting 17, [0:33] last one for this year, uh, November 13, [0:37] 2025. I am Chad Milner, engineering [0:39] director. [0:48] Uh, and we'll get into some big project [0:50] updates here, what it looks like [0:53] starting Saturday morning versus in [0:56] 2026. But just a big thank you for [0:59] attending these meetings and being part [1:01] of our project. [1:03] Our goals, which we talk about every [1:05] time, improve safety, mobility of all [1:07] users, create new separated pedestrian [1:10] routes, improve traffic operations, [1:12] consolidate those access points. You're [1:14] going to see that on Saturday morning [1:16] when this facilities opened around [1:19] Highway 100. Um to name a few of the [1:22] goals that we have for the project. This [1:25] is the project again. It it started west [1:27] of Interlockan Boulevard on Vernon [1:29] Avenue. [1:31] Had two bridges. One is at the CP [1:35] Railroad junction with Vernon Avenue, [1:37] that bridge. The other bridge is over [1:39] Highway 100 and the on andoff ramps and [1:42] it ends just west of Graange Road on the [1:46] east side of Highway 100. [1:50] We have been communicating in many, many [1:52] methods. So, thank you for receiving [1:54] those, participating. Again, the best [1:57] area to get future updates is the better [1:59] together.org [2:02] backernonhire [2:04] 100. Again, this is the last bi-weekly [2:07] virtual meeting that we'll have this [2:09] year and then we'll think about next [2:11] year going forward. [2:15] What did we tell you in September, early [2:17] September, we said that on stage four, [2:20] we're going to close all the off-ramps [2:22] on and off ramps to Highway 100. And we [2:25] said that we were going to close those [2:26] until mid November. And we are indeed [2:30] going to reopen those Saturday morning, [2:33] Friday night into Saturday morning this [2:36] week. So, we met that promise or at [2:39] least a big portion of the project with [2:41] the Highway 100 bridge and the on and [2:43] off ramp. So starting Saturday morning, [2:45] you will be able to use the bridge. You [2:48] can see arrows that were [2:51] added to the graphic. So if you're [2:54] coming southbound on 100 and you take [2:56] the exit ramp, there'll be a stop sign [2:59] at the top, you can go straight through [3:01] the intersection and loop around Hilltop [3:03] to get Arcadia Avenue. You can take a [3:06] left and head towards the 50th and [3:08] France district [3:10] or you can get back on the highway. [3:12] You're heading northbound Highway 100. [3:14] You can take the new exit alignment here [3:17] and you can take a right heading towards [3:19] City Hall and 50th and France district [3:22] or left and that'll send you onto that [3:25] on-ramp where I assume you'll want to [3:27] take the hilltop exit to get to Arcadia [3:30] Avenue. And then what we told you last [3:32] week is we didn't or two weeks ago that [3:35] there was an opportunity that this [3:38] northbound onramp to 100 was not going [3:42] to be open. It will also be opened. [3:44] There is work that needs to be done with [3:46] the noise while planking contractor can [3:49] do some of that work under traffic. [3:51] There's a portion towards the end of [3:54] that ramp where it gets very narrow and [3:56] they are coming up with options on how [3:58] to do that work and also detail if [4:01] there's going to be traffic impacts at [4:03] that time. So everything to the [4:06] basically the east of Arcadia Avenue [4:08] will be open Saturday morning. Stop [4:11] signs are going to be the traffic [4:13] control to start and then traffic [4:16] signals will be continued to be placed [4:19] the power all that stuff over the next [4:23] uh few weeks to a couple months [4:25] depending on the power needed to supply [4:28] those traffic signals [4:31] west of Arcadia Avenue at the big X that [4:33] will be closed for the winter and then [4:37] the intersection of Interlockan [4:39] Boulevard, Gus Young, and Vernon Avenue [4:42] on the very west side of the project. [4:45] Eventually, that intersection is going [4:47] to be open so people can access from [4:49] Interlock and right to Gus Young Lane [4:51] and access many of those businesses [4:53] within Grand View near Dean's, the [4:56] Starbucks, and some of the other [4:59] businesses in that area. [5:02] I look for Saturday morning opening the [5:04] on andoff ramps making it much easier to [5:06] access 50th and France and the Grand [5:08] View District. [5:11] Uh Vernon Avenue bridge, we've talked [5:13] about the delays there, but work has [5:15] started on that west abupment. Ames will [5:18] continue to work as weather allows. [5:21] Uh the operations will stop until spring [5:23] pending weather. I already mentioned Gus [5:26] Young will reopen that with a temporary [5:28] signal is what the plan is at this [5:30] point. The new bridge is estimated to be [5:33] complete in midsummer and the cost [5:35] impacts are still unknown. So two weeks [5:37] ago I showed you the picture in the [5:39] bottom bottom left. They were forming a [5:42] bunch of stuff. Picture on the top right [5:45] is what it looked like yesterday. So [5:46] they got a lot of that poured. They have [5:49] a big pore plan for tomorrow to finish [5:51] the abupment. [5:53] After it gets enough strength, they can [5:55] start back filling up to a point where [5:58] they build retaining walls on each side [6:00] and the foundations for those retaining [6:01] walls. We'd really like and if weather [6:04] allows to get the foundations for the [6:06] retaining walls in and a portion of this [6:09] backfilled before a big freeze up so [6:13] then they could place the beams across. [6:16] uh this winter at some point. So once [6:19] the beams are crossed, then they could [6:21] really start operations without load [6:23] restrictions next spring to start to [6:26] form up the forms to pour the deck. So [6:30] there's a great opportunity if think if [6:32] they can get that far with weather would [6:34] really expedite the operations next [6:38] spring and they won't be impacted by [6:40] load restrictions or less impacted. [6:44] Uh what else is going on? So, the noise [6:46] wall planks at multiple locations, still [6:48] an unknown schedule. Those will start [6:51] going up along Vernon in that northbound [6:54] on-ramp at some point. Still don't know. [6:56] The materials haven't showed up. Ames [6:59] will do site cleanup uh as they're doing [7:01] now, especially where the road's going [7:03] to be reopened on Saturday. So, that is [7:06] happening. Uh they're going to continue [7:08] to work again trying to build enough to [7:10] place those beams either now or over the [7:12] winter to avoid those load restrictions [7:16] in the spring. And the contractor or [7:19] Ames will continue to use [7:22] the old public work site 5146 Eden [7:25] Avenue as a stockpile area over the [7:27] winter. They will tidy it up, clean it [7:30] up, but there will be equipment and [7:31] materials stored stockpiled there over [7:34] the winter. [7:36] Then some pictures. So this is a picture [7:38] of Interlock and Vernon. You can see the [7:41] new crosswalk markings are there and see [7:44] the signal pole base ready for the [7:46] signal when that comes. Um and the final [7:50] paving is complete basically through [7:52] this intersection. [7:55] Picture on the left is looking east [7:57] towards the new bridge. You can see the [7:59] turn lane markings, pavement markings, [8:02] light poles are installed, sidewalks are [8:04] done. a lot of the stuff ready to get [8:07] open to traffic is complete. Picture on [8:11] the right, uh, we planted three trees on [8:14] the median on the east side of the [8:15] bridge on the 50th street side. So, [8:17] those trees went in yesterday. You can [8:20] see the pavement markings are done, [8:22] light poles, um, and a few of that [8:25] miscellaneous stuff is still happening. [8:28] Picture on the left is eastbound with [8:31] the two new left turn lanes on to [8:35] northbound Highway 100. So the pavement [8:37] markings, the arrows, that's done. And [8:41] the picture on the right is looking back [8:43] down the new on-ramp alignment. So [8:46] you're looking south, which would be the [8:49] northbound off-ramp. So you can see the [8:52] lane designations, the new crosswalks. [8:55] Um, can't quite see the push button [8:59] thing. That's not up yet. Those will be [9:01] installed with the signals, new light [9:03] poles, but this is something, this will [9:06] be the new offramp that'll be open on [9:08] Saturday morning. [9:11] And then we want to compare the [9:12] rendering on the left is something we've [9:14] been showing you the whole time. So, the [9:16] railings, the new pad crossings, [9:18] crosswalks, pedestrian push buttons, [9:22] median turn lanes, and this is [9:24] approximate location of that yesterday. [9:27] Still a lot of equipment, but you can [9:28] see the crosswalks, [9:30] ped ramp, the light pole. Like I [9:33] mentioned, the push button isn't in yet. [9:35] See the medians, turn lanes. So, it's [9:38] looking very similar to the renderings [9:40] that were completed a long time ago. And [9:44] then similar to the rendering that down [9:46] on the highway what the bridge will look [9:47] like. Note that the forms are still need [9:50] to be stripped from the bridge. But you [9:52] can see the finish on this side matches [9:55] the finish [9:57] adjacent on the rendering. Various two [10:00] light poles. There's the two light poles [10:02] that were shown in the rendering. Kind [10:04] of the feel for that structure. So we [10:07] are right there matching those [10:10] renderings with the actual construction. [10:14] And with that, I'll stop sharing.
