first half of the alphabet attend school on mondays and [8:39] tuesdays and the second half of the alphabet will be learning from home [8:44] on those days along with our eva students who will also be learning from [8:52] home [9:07] go ahead mike okay on wednesdays all students will be completing independent learning at home [9:15] so that teachers can plan and prepare for the following week [9:31] on thursdays and fridays students in the second half of the alphabet will be attending school face-to-face [9:38] and the first half of the alphabet and eva students will continue to learn at home there may be times [9:46] when students who are learning at home may join a google meet to have a live [9:52] interaction with the class [10:17] steve [10:23] the expectations for learning in person it's important that students are [10:28] following safety guidelines wearing a mask following social [10:34] distancing having an id on their lanyard and attending classes they will have the [10:42] opportunity for lunch in a safe way [10:47] [Music] [11:26] when students are at home they should review their schedule in schoology to [11:31] see if they have a live session they should follow the directions complete [11:38] assignments and activities at home independently and they may have [11:43] the opportunity to connect with their classes [11:54] applications [12:08] is [12:18] for attendance at middle school students will be liking a schoology update or [12:26] attending a google meet during their advisory period and at the high school they will [12:31] complete attendance-based assignments in each class to be marked as present [12:37] when they're at home for students who attend class in person they will be marked present if they are [12:50] there [13:13] the daily schedule will be slightly different in each building here you see southview schedule with [13:20] advisory at 9 20 and that's when students may be [13:26] liking something on their advisory update that the teacher posts and they [13:32] may attend flex time virtually or face to face and then follow their [13:38] block schedule during the day [14:00] is [14:07] [Music] [14:26] at valley view students will follow a similar schedule starting at 9 [14:31] 20 with advisory but that will be a google meet session [14:37] or they will be face to face with their [14:42] advisory [14:51] [Music] [14:57] and then for the high school they follow a schedule that begins at 8 30 and they should always check [15:04] schoology if they are at home to see if there's any live sessions during those class times [15:32] when students go into schoology they will see an overview for the week at the top of [15:37] the course that may be a video or a chart and they will also see always see their [15:44] upcoming assignments and activities that they are to do on a given day in the upper right hand side of their [15:51] schoology class this applies for everybody right mike [15:56] yeah uh this is for six through twelve [16:02] [Music] yes [16:20] application [16:27] in the schoology course they may also see the meat for a link for a google meet and [16:34] they will have folders with course content that they can complete [16:39] here's an example of a high school class and the aba stands for attendance based assignment [17:16] yes our elementary schools will also follow [17:23] a similar schedule to the secondary as far as the split goes so the first half of the [17:29] alphabet will attend in person schools on monday and tuesday while the second half of the alphabet is [17:36] at home on monday and tuesday and similarly wednesdays will be used [17:42] for teacher collaboration and planning time at the elementary [17:58] level [18:26] a so a little more detail about what uh the hybrid [18:32] learning might look like and so on the left hand side we have the in-school schedule and on the right-hand [18:39] side we have the at-home schedule you'll note that both schedules [18:44] of similar elements literacy workshop math workshop and morning meetings but [18:50] they may be handled differently depending upon whether or not the student is in school or at home either way students will have [18:58] an opportunity to connect through google meet to their classroom teacher [19:04] during the days when they're at home [19:36] me here's an example schedule of what it [19:42] might look like for a classroom and so you can see listed on the left side are the time [19:47] periods of the day and then the different activities during the day we have what are [19:53] three learning settings that happen regularly we have in-person sessions and so in the [19:59] classroom during the classroom period that is the time when uh that we're most [20:05] familiar with but at home students may join an in-person session through google meet [20:15] for example uh [20:31] in all learning there'll be opportunities for independent settings and so those are [20:36] the times when the kids will actually work on their own and that will be both at home [20:41] and at school and then also to highlight that they will still have small group [20:46] sessions that will be both available at home and at school depending upon the [21:00] activities [21:14] a as steve mentioned there are two primary [21:20] platforms for our digital classrooms uh for our kindergarteners through [21:25] second grade the primary uh platform for the digital classroom is seesaw [21:32] seesaw has two different apps that you access in order to stay [21:38] connected to the classroom the the district is providing [21:44] ipads for all students in kindergarten through second grade and on that ipad it will have the class [21:51] app already installed that is the student facing app for seesaw [22:10] applications [22:21] and for uh for uh this fall we'll be connecting to the classroom using the home [22:28] learning code this creates a private connection between the student and the teacher so [22:34] that the student's work isn't exposed to their other classmates on seesaw [22:39] unless the teacher decides to highlight something they've completed [23:03] the other app is the family app and that is for parents to connect with the teacher the family [23:10] app can be downloaded on your smartphone or the touchscreen tablet or [23:17] accessed through the browser the family app is a useful way for you to actually communicate directly [23:24] with the teacher using the features in seesaw [23:46] one of the nice features of seesaw is you are able to change the home language of the app so [23:52] that you can have it in your preferred language so that you can get that set up so you [23:58] can read what is going on in the app in whatever language is [24:03] most familiar [24:11] in the application [24:16] application [24:22] next we'll look at what the student sees so you have an idea of what the kids will see when they get [24:28] into seesaw so this is a student view of seesaw what they would see when they log in so [24:35] on the left hand side is the activity that a teacher has posted [24:41] for the student to interact with in order to interact with that particular activity they just click the green add a [24:48] response button and then they'll be able to submit a response to the teacher [24:54] activities are noted if you look on the right hand side with that little red [24:59] sixth next to it that shows that there are six activities for the student to complete [25:05] and then immediately below that are three different filters the to do so things that have yet to be completed in progress [25:13] items that have been started but not yet submitted to the teacher and then done activities that have been [25:21] created and submitted to the teacher so a nice way to be able to keep track of the activities being [25:27] submitted or shared by the teacher and submitted by your students [25:38] at response [26:11] next we'll see what it looks like when the student clicks the green activity button and so this screen [26:18] looks this is what the students will use to submit their work and so you can see the view instructions [26:24] remain available for the students at the top of the page and the left side of the page is the [26:31] creation tools and what's nice here is that microphone and camera icons mean that the students [26:38] can leave an audio or video recording or take a picture as they learn their skills in typing and [26:46] writing so they can submit assignments to their teachers using their voice or video as they get better [26:52] about typing uh [27:19] [Music] [27:39] now students starting in third grade third through fifth grade will use schoology which is the same [27:45] platform that michael had highlighted for the secondary and so this is what it looks [27:50] like for a student at the elementary level when they get into schoology their homeroom [27:56] teacher will have a folder and the specialists will have a folder below that and that's where the content [28:02] resources and assignments will be stored and then on the right hand side you can [28:08] see a schedule of upcoming events in this case there are birthdays coming up but as [28:13] due dates are added to assignments those will be listed on the right-hand side as [28:28] well [28:56] and then finally in schoology we'll look and see this is what an assignment might look like at the elementary level [29:03] the folder has a list of instructions for the activity in that folder there is a link [29:10] for resources for the students so that they can actually review the content that the teacher has [29:15] shared included in this particular one is also a video tutorial and then also [29:21] a quick quiz or assessment so that the kids are yep with so the students can tell if [29:26] they're on track and then finally at the bottom there is a place for discussions [29:31] as a parent you can see the information and content available [29:36] in schoology but you aren't able to see what the students actually submit so you have a [29:42] view of your students work in schoology but not of other
