[0:00] Well, greetings everybody. This is Jim [0:02] Huffland, your dynamor, and this is the [0:04] mayor's minute for Wednesday, October [0:06] 22nd, 2025. [0:09] Well, you could ask yourself the [0:10] question, what would our cities look [0:12] like if kids were in charge? The League [0:14] of Minnesota Cities is holding its [0:16] annual essay contest to find out the [0:18] answer to that question. Open to [0:21] Minnesota students who are in the [0:22] fourth, fifth, or sixth grades this [0:24] school year. Entries for the 2025 Mayor [0:27] for a day essay contest can be emailed, [0:30] submitted online, or submitted via USPS [0:34] and postmarked by December 12th. Up to [0:37] four winners will be chosen to receive [0:39] $100 prizes each and will have their [0:42] essays published in the League of [0:43] Minnesota Cities magazine. Winners will [0:46] be notified in early January 2026. [0:49] We will also find a way to appropriately [0:51] honor any winners from Edina, and we've [0:53] had them in the past. [0:55] This year's essay question is, "Cities [0:58] provide a variety of services and [1:00] programs that make our lives better, [1:02] including parks and recreation, street [1:04] maintenance, water and sewer, libraries, [1:06] police, fire, and more. If you were [1:09] mayor for a day, what would you do to [1:11] make one of these services that your [1:13] city provides even better?"
