[0:00] Well, greetings everybody. This is Jim [0:02] Hublin, your dynamor, and this is the [0:04] mayor's minute for Tuesday, August 5th, [0:06] 2023. This is, of course, everybody [0:09] knows, night to unite, and we'll be [0:11] delaying our city council meeting until [0:13] August 6, 2023 because of night to [0:15] unite. You know, one of the big benefits [0:18] of being part of a city recognized [0:20] neighborhood association is support from [0:22] the city for your meetings and events. [0:25] For example, our police officers and [0:26] other staff have had the pleasure of [0:28] attending French themed celebrations at [0:30] Weber Park for the Morningside [0:32] neighborhood, a summer social at Chowan [0:34] Park for the Chowan Park neighborhood, [0:36] and a party for the Strahour Park [0:38] neighborhood last month. Tonight, [0:41] neighborhoods across the city will also [0:43] gather, this time in the name of crime [0:45] prevention. Edina police, fire, and [0:48] public works departments will be out in [0:49] the community for night to unite. Night [0:52] to Unite is designed to build [0:53] neighborhood involvement by bringing [0:55] first responders and communities [0:56] together and bring awareness to crime [0:58] prevention and local law enforcement [1:00] efforts. This is just a terrific number, [1:02] but nearly 100 neighborhoods have [1:05] registered their parties and will have [1:07] the opportunity to meet and greet police [1:09] officers, paramedics, firefighters, [1:12] public service workers, and members of [1:14] the Adina City Council while enjoying [1:16] time with their neighbors outdoors. [1:18] Night to Unite also provides an [1:20] opportunity for residents to donate food [1:22] and school supplies for volunteers [1:24] enlisted to assist people or VEP as we [1:27] know it. Last year, 519 pounds of food [1:30] and 520 school supplies were donated at [1:34] night to unite. Police officer reserves [1:37] will pick up donations at registered [1:39] parties between 6:00 and 9:00 p.m. as [1:41] their schedules allow. If the reserves [1:44] can't make it to a party, organizers are [1:46] asked to drop off their items at the [1:48] Adina Police Department later tonight or [1:50] tomorrow. I look forward to seeing some [1:52] of you tonight. We'll be out amongst [1:54] them. I'll be with the chief of police [1:55] during night to unite. We make usually [1:57] make seven or eight stops and look [1:59] forward to seeing you in your [2:01] neighborhood.
