Vernon Avenue and Highway 100 Interchange Project – Contract Award

The City Council is scheduled to award the construction contract at its April 16th meeting. If approved, Phase 1 construction would commence as early as April 21st and conclude by mid-November. The project represents a multi-year collaborative effort between Hennepin County, Minnesota Department of Transportation, and the City of Edina. Key infrastructure components include two new bridges (one over Canadian Pacific Railroad, one over Highway 100), elimination of redundant Highway 100 access ramps, construction of noise walls, and significant pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure enhancements including wide sidewalks and dual turn lanes. Street closures on Vernon Avenue and West 50th Street between Interlockan Boulevard and Graange Road are planned for April 23rd, though Highway 100 on/off ramps will remain operational.

The city has established multiple communication channels to keep residents, businesses, and visitors informed throughout the project lifecycle.
