Edina launches second annual tree recognition campaign
The Edina Energy and Environment Commission announced its second annual tree recognition campaign, accepting nominations through mid-October for trees that hold special significance to community residents.
The campaign aims to celebrate notable trees throughout the city while raising awareness about proper tree care and the environmental benefits trees provide to the community. Trees of any size, species or type can be nominated, whether located on public or private property.
Residents can nominate trees that are meaningful to their families, visually striking during different seasons, or unique in other ways. The commission emphasized that nominations should focus on trees that are interesting, unique or significant to residents for any reason.
To participate, residents must visit bettertogetherina.org and complete an online nomination form that requires uploading at least one photograph of the nominated tree. The commission will review all submissions and select trees for recognition.
The commission will notify both nominees and property owners of selected trees by the end of October. This marks the second year for the program, which seeks to highlight the importance of trees in promoting community well-being and providing environmental services.
