Edina launches Earth Month initiatives focused on sustainability
The Edina City Council is promoting environmental stewardship this April through a series of free community events and programs designed to help residents reduce their energy use and embrace sustainable practices.
The city is marking Earth Month with four major events aimed at advancing local climate action. Residents can participate in a community clothing swap at the Edina Senior Center, attend an Arbor Day tree planting at Creek Valley School Park, and visit the Earth Day festival at Weber Park. Additionally, the city is hosting an open house at Edina Fire Station 2 to present a proposed safe and equitable mobility action plan, which focuses on transportation options that are both safe and fair to all community members.
Beyond the events, Edina's sustainability division is partnering with the Home Energy Squad to offer free home energy visits throughout April. During these visits, energy experts will assess homes for insulation quality and evaluate heating and cooling systems. Residents will receive personalized recommendations for improving their home's energy efficiency. Those who sign up during April will receive the service at no cost.
All of the Earth Month events are free and open to the community. The initiatives reflect the city's commitment to helping residents take concrete steps toward reducing their environmental impact while building awareness about climate action at the local level.
