Edina's Centennial Lakes Tax Increment Financing (TIF) District has achieved remarkable financial success over its 26-year lifespan, accumulating an impressive $11.5 million in available funds for future public projects. This substantial sum follows an extraordinary 1,459% growth in the district's tax capacity, a highlight from the recent Housing & Redevelopment Authority (HRA) meeting held on May 14, 2026.

Bill Neuendorf, Edina's Economic Development Manager, presented the positive update to the HRA, underscoring the district's effectiveness in generating revenue dedicated to local development initiatives. The remaining funds are now earmarked for various public improvements within the city, aligning with the original goals established when the TIF district was created.

The report detailed that over its 26-year operational period, the Centennial Lakes TIF district has not only facilitated significant private and public development but also created a robust financial legacy. This sustained growth allows the city to consider a broader range of potential projects and initiatives without solely relying on general fund allocations, offering greater flexibility in community planning.

The HRA meeting, held at Edina City Hall in the Council Chambers, saw Commissioners Jackson, Pierce, and Risser, along with Chair Hovland, present for the update. While other agenda items were discussed, including the approval of previous meeting minutes and amendments to the Edina Home Preservation Line of Credit Program Agreement, the TIF fund update stood out for its positive long-term financial implications for the city.
