The Edina City Council accepted a combined $30,000 donation from the Edina Garden Council and Keadale Garden Club on Tuesday to construct a concrete labyrinth at Arneson Acres Park.

The circular concrete structure will feature an embossed design and be located in the formal gardens area of the park. Representatives from both organizations said the donation comes from proceeds of their annual plant sale, which also funds flower plantings throughout the city. A grand opening ceremony is planned for mid-August, featuring musical performances.

The council also approved a rezoning request for the 22-acre Southdale Office Center site, changing it from PUD-11 to PCD-3 zoning. The property owner plans to remodel two middle office buildings and add handicap-accessible entrances. The action rescinds a 2017 planned unit development that was never implemented.

During community comment, residents raised concerns about the city's tree ordinance requirements. Jason Banks of Scott Terrace said he was required to plant up to 12 replacement trees after removing one basswood tree for a home addition, calling the requirement excessive for his property size.

The council also proclaimed Emergency Medical Services Week and National Public Works Week, both running May 18-24, and recognized the Boos Cabin with the 2025 Edina Heritage Preservation Award for its historical significance and preservation efforts.
