Edina Mayor Promotes Annual Gear Swap Event

Meeting date: Sep 3, 2025
Published Sep 8, 2025

Edina Mayor Jim Hufflin announced the city's annual gear swap event during his Sept. 3 Mayor's Minute, encouraging residents to participate in the community initiative supporting local students.

The event will take place over two days at the Atlanta Community Center. On Saturday, Sept. 6, from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., residents can donate clean, gently used or new sports, arts, dance and music equipment. Items range from musical instruments and hockey sticks to snow pants and ballet shoes.

On Sunday, Sept. 7, from 9:30 a.m. to noon, the donated items will be available for pickup during the gear shopping day. All community members are welcome to participate, and no donation is required to shop for items.

The gear swap supports Edina Give and Go, an organization that provides equitable access to arts, sports and enrichment opportunities for Edina Public Schools students. The organization serves thousands of students by making activities accessible that might otherwise be financially out of reach.

Financial donations will also be accepted to support the organization's mission. Residents can find volunteer and sponsorship information at edinagiveandgo.org under the events section.
