[0:00] [Music] [0:06] dog that we have in impound right now is [0:08] a a pitbull. [0:10] Very handsome boy and he's real spunky. [0:14] So I imagine that he got away from his [0:17] owner. Uh was found in Isacson Park. [0:20] Somebody in the park called it in and [0:22] one of our officers went out and got [0:24] him. Yeah, cuz your beautiful picture [0:26] went up on [0:28] the police website today. How [0:30] everybody's going to see how pretty you [0:31] are. We hold the dogs for about and cats [0:35] for about 7 days and then um we um put [0:40] their pictures on social media and that [0:42] has been a really great way that we make [0:44] reunifications as well. We have the [0:46] Golden Valley impound. We keep them safe [0:49] so they're at least they're off the [0:50] street, won't get hit by a car, and uh [0:54] we try to make the pet re reunification [0:58] happen or if uh the owner is not found, [1:01] we um arrange for an a surrender [1:04] appointment with the humane society. It [1:06] starts off with really taking care of [1:08] your animals by um having them [1:10] vaccinated [1:12] um and uh minding the leash laws. Golden [1:15] Valley has a leash law. You have to be [1:17] in control of your animal at all times [1:19] except for dog parks of course, but um [1:22] we don't want them to get away from [1:23] their owners. Microchipping is extremely [1:26] important. We have been able to make a [1:28] lot of reunifications [1:30] with a microchip. Last fall, we had uh [1:34] reports, actually four calls saying [1:36] there was a dog loose on Highway 55. It [1:39] was running back and forth to the north [1:41] side and the south side. I brought it to [1:43] Blue Pearl Emergency Vet and they were [1:46] able to scan the dog and we found a [1:48] microchip and the dog uh belonged right [1:51] here in Golden Valley. We don't shy away [1:53] from helping all animals because uh we [1:56] realize that they're important. Uh [1:58] they're all Golden Valley citizens, so [2:00] we take care of them, too. [2:03] For more city stories, check out [2:05] ccdia.org [2:07] or find us on social media. [2:11] [Music]
