00:00:00,000 very much. City Council meeting this evening, September 1st, 2026. Members of the public may attend this meeting in person by watching on cable channel 16, or by streaming on CC media. At this time, I would like us to do two things. 00:00:26,900 If you’re able to do so, please stand for the Pledge of Allegiance as well as the land acknowledgement. I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands. One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. 00:00:51,200 We acknowledge and honor the Dakota nation, on whose ancestral land the city of Golden Valley is built, and whose land resources we use. We commit to counteracting the erasure of the cultural practices and presence of the Dakota people through education, and by amplifying a wide range of indigenous voices. You may be seated. 00:01:20,600 We have a proclamation today recognizing Welcome Week, September 10th through the 19th of 2026, and our communications, our community Connections specialists. Miss Chair Cobb will discuss the staff report and proclamation. Welcome. Hello, mayor and City Council, thank you so much for having me. Okay, so I’ll summarize the importance of the Welcome Week proclamation. And it started as a National Welcome Week in 2012. 00:01:43,530 So this nationwide initiative is now known as Welcome Week and is focused on creating, belonging and inclusion for all people inclusive of refugees, immigrants and visitors. This specific initiative provides an opportunity for the city to affirm its commitment to building inclusive, connected and welcoming community through Welcoming Week. 00:02:05,400 The city can highlight the diversity of its community, encourage connection among residents, and reinforce the importance of welcoming new and longstanding community members alike. The city is using its focus of this celebration to reestablish a welcome guide for all residents to learn about city services, its resources know how to be participatory in local government, and feel a stronger sense of connection to the city and to each other. 00:02:27,270 Recognizing Welcome Week aligns with the city’s broader commitment to equity, inclusion and community engagement. It provides an opportunity to acknowledge that every resident has a valued place in the community, and that building a welcoming community is a shared responsibility. Thank you so much. Thank you. 00:02:51,830 Council, do you have any questions or comments for Miss Cob? I’m excited to hear that and welcome guys being recreated. So that would be awesome for residents new residents to get a hand on. So that’s cool to hear. Me too. And I think the communications department, I have to highlight them too for partnering with me on creating it and finishing it up. Awesome. 00:03:06,230 That’s great. And did you mention are there is there an activity that will take place this week or activities? So we’re starting with the welcoming guide right now. And then we are creating a broader plan for how it’s going to be implemented citywide. That’s the next steps. 00:03:21,730 And then hopefully for next year we want like a full on event, whether it’s a week long event or initiative that will take place that can center the work on Welcoming week with the guide. So that has yet to be coming forward. Great. Well thank you. Yeah. 00:03:40,600 Now therefore, be it resolved that the City council of the City of Golden Valley does hereby proclaim September 10th through September 19th. Welcome Week, and call upon the people of Golden Valley to foster belonging and celebrate all city newcomers and visitors and flourish in our city’s diversity. Thank you. Yeah. Thank you. Next on our agenda, are additions and corrections. 00:04:05,630 Uh, Council. Uh, do you see any additions or corrections to the agenda? I would then like to have someone entertain a motion to approve the agenda as submitted. So moved. Thank you. Is there a second? Second. This is a voice vote. All those in favor, please say I. Aye. None. 00:04:25,200 Oppose the, uh, additions and corrections have been approved. Next on our agenda is the approval of consent. All items listed under this heading are considered to be routine by the City Council, and will be enacted by one motion. There will be no discussion of these items unless a council member. 00:04:41,930 So requests in which event the item will be removed from the general order of business and considered in its normal sequence on the agenda Council. Are there any items you wish to be removed from the consent agenda? Three D two. Three D two. Anything else? Okay. With the exception of three d two. 00:05:05,430 Uh, I’ll entertain a motion for approval of the consent agenda, as amended. So moved. Thank you. Is there a second? Second. Any further discussion? This is also a voice vote. All those in favor say aye. Aye, aye. None. Opposed.
