[0:30] Well, hey. [0:31] >> Well, hello. [0:33] >> Good morning, everyone. How's everybody [0:34] doing today? [0:35] >> We're doing good. [0:36] >> There we go. So, we're here. We have our [0:39] third senior showcase who leads with [0:41] kindness, respect, inclusivity [music] [0:43] is Tessa. [0:46] >> Tessa, tell us about your family and a [0:48] little bit who you [music] are. [0:48] >> And in my family is my mom and my dad [0:50] and my brother who's a freshman here. [0:52] We're really close and we take a lot of [0:54] trips together. We really enjoy hanging [0:55] out together. [0:56] >> You're captain of the tennis team. When [0:57] did you start playing tennis? I started [0:59] playing around [music] five or six years [1:01] old. It's always just kind of been a [1:02] part of my life. Um I played it at first [1:04] as a recreational [music] sport and then [1:06] I really liked it and so we just kind of [1:08] kept going with it and eventually it led [1:10] me to [music] the high school team and [1:12] that was really exciting because it was [1:14] a community. [1:15] >> Tessa, how do you show kindness and how [1:16] can others do so as [music] well? [1:18] >> I like to show kindness by kind of [1:20] including them wherever I can. [1:22] >> People talk to us about your work ethic. [1:24] Who's inspired that in [music] you? I [1:25] think my eighth grade Spanish teacher, [1:27] Professor Newman, really inspired that [1:29] in me because he kept it fun, but he [1:31] kept [music] it a strong work work ethic [1:33] and he kind of instilled that we can [1:35] work hard and play hard. She's really [1:36] just a positive presence and very much [1:40] that like infectious kindness [music] [1:41] and positivity. [1:42] >> Tessa's really looked to by a lot of her [1:44] friends as a really great helper. Uh, [1:46] anytime [music] that students need help, [1:47] she's always there to help. Uh, she [1:49] definitely during our company projects [1:50] was a great team lead for us. Why are [1:53] [music] you a writing coach? I enjoy um [1:56] tutoring others and I mean writing is [1:58] always really important to me. I think [1:59] that that process is really special and [2:01] I think writing and [music] reading is [2:03] how we share experiences and emotions [2:05] and um I wanted to help others try to do [2:07] that. [2:07] >> What is the last [music] book that you [2:09] read? [2:09] >> I read The Catcher and the Rye. [2:11] >> Is it Starbucks or Caribou for you? [2:12] >> I really like Starbucks. It's definitely [2:15] my favorite. The strawberry sigh [2:17] lemonade. [2:17] >> Light ice. Regular ice. [2:19] >> Uh regular ice. I like it cold. If your [2:22] life had a soundtrack, what would be one [2:23] of the songs in that soundtrack? [2:25] >> I like Bittersweet Symphony [music] by [2:26] The Verb. [2:27] >> What is your favorite movie? [2:28] >> Overall, it's Ferris Wheeler's Day Off. [2:30] >> What are your future plans? [2:32] >> Well, I do want to go to college outside [2:33] [music] of Minnesota. [2:35] >> What career interests do you have? [2:36] >> I like economics a lot. [2:38] >> If you can give your freshman advice, [2:40] knowing what you know today, what would [2:41] that advice be? I think it was really [2:43] important for me to make connections [2:44] [music] and make friends because outside [2:46] of just like having fun and having an [2:48] [music] kind of a way to relieve stress [2:50] or just have a different environment, I [2:52] think that it really helped me grow and [2:53] learn and learn [music] different [2:55] perspectives and try to do things [2:56] better.
