[0:00] Today we gather to honor and celebrate [0:01] those who have sacrificed so much for [0:03] our country and for the freedoms we [0:05] enjoy. [0:06] >> It is a veteran, not the campus [0:08] organizer, who has given us the freedom [0:11] to assemble. It is the veteran, not the [0:14] lawyer, who has given us the right to a [0:17] fair trial. It is a veteran, not a [0:20] politician, who has given us the right [0:23] to vote. As a community, today gives us [0:26] a chance to express our gratitude for [0:28] those who have made the sacrifice for [0:30] our freedom. To my peers, coming today [0:33] speaks volumes to the veterans in front [0:35] of you. I wasn't going to let one bad [0:37] day [0:39] determine what the rest of my life was [0:40] going to look like. I wasn't going to [0:43] quit. And think about how easy it would [0:45] have been for me to quit laying in that [0:46] bed that day. I wanted to be worth [0:48] saving to those guys that pulled me off [0:49] the battlefield. So, I choose every day [0:51] to be the best version of myself. And [0:54] you guys can do that as well. And I hope [0:56] that if you can take anything away from [0:57] veterans, it's find a purpose to fight [0:59] every day for the things that you love. [1:02] Korean War, 33,741 [1:06] American lives lost. Vietnam War, 58,220 [1:11] American lives lost. Gulf War and the [1:14] War on terrorism, 7,97 [1:17] American veterans lost.
