Construction Update Related to Board Referendum
Votes (1)
Approval of Board Policies 207 (Public Hearings) and 222 (Board Vacancies)
Dissent: None.
Moved by Board Member Heidi Kedar [00:20:56] · Seconded by Board Member Paris Bendy [00:21:28]
Superintendent Virgin and Policy Committee Chair Sheila Prior presented two board policies, 207 and 222, for approval. Changes were minimal, mostly updates and incorporation of statutory language. A board member sought clarification on Policy 207 regarding 'out of order' comments during public hearings, specifically questioning if applause would be considered disruptive and requesting consistency in policy enforcement by the board chair. It was clarified that public hearings differ from the audience opportunity section.
Notable Quotes (3)
we have two policies for approval. Um, one is, um, public hearings and the other is board vacancies. And there were very minimal changes to both of these, just some updates um and some addition of language from statute and some references to the statute.
I just would like to ask for clarification. Um policy 220 uh 207 public hearing. Um it's about privilege to speak. Um, comments by others are out of order. Individuals who interfere with or interrupt speakers, the school board or the proceeding proceeding may be directed to leave. I'm curious what are examples of such kind of events.
I would like to ask for consistency.
