good evening it is 6:45 on October 14th and I'm calling the maple plane city council special meeting public hearing to order looking for a motion to adopt tonight's agenda so moved moved by Francis begin this evening thank you madam mayor members of the council uh tonight we are reviewing ordinance 329 uh which amends the maple plane city code uh to clarify the connection requirements for private Su pumps to the city's drain tile system uh we've worked on this uh at several different workshops to come up with this language um this also addresses limitations related to um the drain tile system during freezing months it outlines the responsibilities of property owners for connecting private Sun Pumps to the uh storm water system including compliance with permit requirements inspection processes and Associated costs the ordinance also specifies that property orders must aate water appropriately during freezing months to prevent Public Safety hazards such as ice formation on streets or sidewalks and are liable for damage is caused by improper diversion all right thank you um anyone have questions for staff before I open the public hearing okay with that looking for a motion to for allowing me to speak tonight um this is something that obviously has been uh um you know with this ordinance that would be something that would probably affect me going forward so I just thought I'd least try to share the moment here my name is Jake eckan I live at 58103 Oaks Avenue um uh you know just looking at it um I in dealing with the city recently with my own situation you know I would assume that that first section probably has to do with modifications to um instead of just connecting the some pump directly to the drain towle having a box system uh to allow water to divert in case the uh some in case the drain to system freezes um is kind of my understanding with uh the requirements going forward of connecting a sun pump line um you know my some pump in in the last few years has been pumping in the winter time uh it's been warmer out and uh not really sure um have not gotten a clear direction of whether that's because the drain isn't working or it's frozen or blocked or if it's because of how my my stmp is is set up um but uh you know just I'm going to be looking for advice if it uh if this isn't resolved here before this winter I'm going to be looking I'm be calling Jake anyone else trying to figure out what the heck to do in the middle of the winter with my uh with my Su uh um hopefully not pouring into the street hopefully that's not the case I don't want it to be the case but um you know just wanted to share that um reading this and seeing that uh that's very well something that I could be coming up with uh this winter so um that's all I wanted to share so
