We are on a tour of a lot of the facilities that the city runs so that we can introduce all of our new members to how our city works.

We have a lot of learning to do here as the four new freshman council members.

You have 13 council members, a mayor and a cabinet, but the people that actually, you know, do the work every single day are city employees.

Those things that you tend to just take for granted, our water, our safety, our parks.

We were touring the emergency operations center while our federal government was occupying our city. And pretty remarkable to see our professional staff being able to support our city in this way.

The federal occupation has complicated things, but it's another opportunity for us to serve our residents and show up in a way that really benefits people.

I came from the Minneapolis Park Board, representing most of Ward 7 for 4 years. I really am attuned to the community's voice.

Public service is how I view this job.

Every term brings a new dynamic and I think getting to know each other is going to help us govern better together.
