We unanimously voted for this in the planning commission. And I just I think it's just really important to highlight um you know just the continued harm and violence that women and non-men experience at the hands of men in power...

We have big concerns about another facility coming into the area while we are also trying to manage a lot of the violence that is happening in the area and uh it is impacting businesses. ...Our kids are in the playyard. We have 30 sex offenders within that zip code currently and we have big strong concerns about if our students will be safe.

This is a service that our residents and neighbors uh your neighbors and in city of Minneapolis need that services and it's hard to come by a place with all all in hands, you know, all services, not just uh housing, but also places that you can get specialized doctors and professionals to help you through your recovery.

When we're talking about family reunification when we're talking about care over criminalization right when we're talking about families being brought back together and not holding someone's past against them but really trying to work on strength strengthening the family dynamics. These are important things to highlight with respect to the work that is um that is being done with these individual community members and reassuring that safety in this situation definitely is going to be a very high priority where it would be extremely different if we were looking at a place for single males or single females.

This is a tool we have to address unsheltered homelessness. I was obviously very disappointed that Mayor Fry vetoed care overcriminalization, but we have to continue to push for a comprehensive approach to addressing addiction, mental health, drug use in our city. And I hope that moving forward there isn't push back on this work that needs to happen because we can't be against uh decriminalizing paraphernalia and also be against these sites.

It is the city's a federal application to the US Department of Housing and Urban Development for its entitlement grant awards for 2026. It updates and restates the goals and priorities that were set in the five-year HUD consolidated plan strategy. It shows how budgeted entitlement funds for 2026 will support those goals and strategies.

One of the nearly 500 people we served in 2025 is Joe. He came to us in August of last year with a history of homelessness. He was using meth, was showing cognitive delays, and not taking HIV medications. By December, through the support of 247 staff, stable affordable housing, and daily meds, Joe had stabilized, stopped using meth, began seeing a therapist, and reached an undetectable viral load.

In terms of threats, the current presidential administration zeros out the HAPA program. Up to this point, Congress has continued to fund HAPA, and we are increasing advocacy to continue to focus on that. In Minnesota, we're experiencing the loss of Medicaid services that have historically supported these clients, uh, which makes HPA even more crucial to providing housing.

I would love a followup on that of like what grant agreements are pending and I I can answer that to a certain extent. Yes. So, we will be providing this application to HUD at the end of the month. Then they will review the review it'll approve it and then after that point we'll receive the grant agreements. ...I would love to get the grant agreements that we entered into um in 2025 and just be able to take some time to read through them before our vote um this Thursday. better ground us and the the conversation that we're having with the um federal government right now.
