Did you know that in the city of Minneapolis, almost 160 people have been killed in traffic crashes in our city? ... if you combine that number of people who who have perished with the number of people who have suffered lifealtering injuries, serious injuries, we're almost we're way over,500 people over the last 10 years.

these blue areas, you know, which are these transportation equity priority areas are really encompass only about 20% of all of the streets in Minneapolis. ... but it's where 55% of all of the fatal crashes in the city take place. And so there is kind of a a very serious inequity and disproportion in this.

Well, now we want to make them permanent. And so that's an action that you that you will see will be occurring here in in Minneapolis over the next four years and has already been been ongoing but even more so.

We have these safety cameras that have been deployed u different places in the city. Five cameras right now. It's a pilot that was authorized by the state legislature and it's only been active for just a few months. ...we did see pretty significant decreases in speed in speeding.

But also there's something that's you know a really interesting set of proposals here for some of the actions that we're going to be taken. ...we can begin to pick out places where there are some conditions that maybe we can address before any of that happens. And so that's kind of a proactive model of safety.

If we're going to er or make an error on one side, I think it's you know the same as with relationships and friendships that we have in our own lives. You know, is it better to communicate too little or better to communicate maybe too much? I would prefer to heir on the side of communicating too much because that gives ample opportunity for everyone who may have a different opinion to come out and and and say their peace and to participate in this debate of ideas to get to a better solution.
