The practice for school districts is to levy to the maximum And what that means is what MDE, the Department of Education right now is calculating all the various levy components, and then once that is finished, we'll have a number that we'll bring back to the board and share obviously with the community, but the action being asked of you tonight is to levy to the maximum because again you can make a choice to decrease it You cannot make a choice to go beyond that.
They're not transferable, so each component is sort of fixed in its own area. So if we were to see... a decrease because we're not doing as many projects, we wouldn't be able to then move that to the general levy. Um, it's similar to how the tech levy works. We can't take tech levy generated funds and spend them outside of the parameters of technology, um, and so we have to think about that particular mechanism as it relates to what's allowable.
