Before we begin the meeting, I want to offer a friendly reminder to all members, staff, and the public that these meetings are broadcast live to enable greater public participation. These broadcasts include real-time captioning as a further method to increase the accessibility of our proceedings to the community. Therefore, all speakers need to be mindful of the rate of their speech so that our captioners can fully capture and transcribe all comments for the broadcast. We ask that all speakers to moderate the speed and clarity of their their comments. So, with that, this is the August 6th, 2026 Zoning Board of Adjustment Regular Meeting. My name is Matt Perry, and I'm chair of this board. I will now call this meeting to order and ask the clerk to call the roll so that we may verify the presence of quorum. >> Board member Callahan. >> Present. >> Board member Ikoltz. >> Here. >> Board member Hutchins. >> Here. >> Board member Ingram. >> Aye. >> Board member Israel. >> Present. >> Board member Shannon. >> Present. >> Board member Smirkova. >> Aye. >> Vice Chair Wang. >> Here. >> Chair Perry. >> Here. >> There are my nine members present. >> Let the record show we do have quorum, and with that, we'll proceed to our agenda, a copy of which was posted for public access to the city's legislative information management system available at lims.minneapolismn.gov. Is there a motion to approve? >> So moved. >> Second. >> It's moved and seconded. Is there any discussion? Hearing none, all in favor of the motion indicate by saying I. >> I. >> Any against, indicate by saying nay. That motion passes and the agenda is approved. I believe all the board members have seen a copy of the minutes from the July 23rd, 2026 Zoning Board of Adjustment meeting. Is there a motion to approve? >> So, moved. >> Second. >> It's moved and seconded. Is there any discussion on the motion? Hearing none, all in favor of the motion indicate by saying I. >> I. >> Any against, indicate by saying nay. Any abstentions? If you weren't here at the last meeting, you should abstain. >> Hodgins abstain. >> And I think Shannon >> Abstain. >> Okay. So, we have two abstentions, but that motion passes. So, the minutes from the Zoning Board of Adjustment July 23rd, 2026 meeting are approved. A reminder to applicants and others that if you are going to speak at the public hearing, please sign in on the sheet available from the clerk and speak clearly into the microphone. If you have not signed in, you can do so on the way out. Also to applicants and others, please contact staff after the hearing with any questions regarding your projects. Let's review the agenda. I will read the agenda number and the address of the project and state whether it's slated for consent, continuance, withdrawal, return, or discussion. I'm just going to cover quickly what consent items are. These are items that will be passed without discussion by the board. We will be adhering to the staff recommendation found on your agenda under the items recommended motion section. Any applicable conditions will be listed in the same section. If you agree with this recommendation, including any applicable conditions, you need to do nothing and the board will pass it as recommended. After an item is passed on consent, you're free to leave the chambers. Please check in with the staff member assigned to that item if you have questions following the decision. If you disagree with the recommendation, please indicate you'd like to speak against that item when I ask and we'll put it on the discussion agenda. And so we have one item, uh agenda item number four with a recommended disposition that staff has uh given us, which is to recommend it for consent. Is there anyone here who would speak against this item? It's 4255 East Lake Harriet Parkway. I see no one. So, that's the only land use request item. So, let's review the items on the agenda for consent. They are item number four. Is there a motion to adopt this item on consent? >> So moved. >> Is there a second? >> Second. >> All in favor of the motion, indicate by saying I. >> I. >> Any against, [clears throat] indicate by saying nay. Any abstentions? That motion passes. So, if you were here for number four, your land use requests are approved. Good luck with your project. And thanks for coming down. All right. Uh we don't have any uh items for continuance. Uh we do have an update from the clerk's office. Uh Mr. Clerk. >> Chair Perry, members of the board, just wanted to notify the board and the public that we have 25 boards and commissions that have now started recruitment. Uh now from from now the first of the month, August 1st through the end, August 31st. That's the only update we have. >> Okay. Um our next meeting is August 20th, 2026, and unless there is anything else, I think we've completed all items on the agenda for this meeting. Ah, I'm sorry. We should allow our newest board member to give a little bit about himself, um, and why he is interested to serve on the board. >> Uh, good afternoon, everybody. My name is George Shannon. I feel that this was a good opportunity for me to learn, grow, and be able to contribute at the same time to the city that I love so much and that I'm born and raised in. I have a business here, I have a family here, and I just wanted to be able to contribute to make this city a better place. >> Great. Thank you very much. Thank you very much for your service. Uh, we're excited to have you aboard. Okay, and with that, I would entertain a motion to adjourn. >> So moved. >> Second. >> All in favor, indicate by saying I. >> I. >> I. >> We are adjourned. [clears throat] >> Mhm. >> Mhm.
