MPS proudly honors Native American Heritage Day (Nov. 28) and celebrates the beauty, strength and rich diversity of our Native peoples and cultures. On Nov. 21, the community gathered at North High School for a Fall Feast & Powwow, coming together to dance, celebrate and recognize first-quarter student achievements. There are more than 1,800 American Indian students in MPS. During the event, Jennifer Simon (Mnicoujou Lakota), director of American Indian Education, led the honoring of students for their accomplishments: ✨ 216 students had perfect attendance ✨ 78 students (grades 6–12) were on the A Honor Roll ✨ 201 students (grades 6–12) were on the B Honor Roll We also celebrated the leadership of the 2025-26 High School American Indian Youth Council and student representatives on the American Indian Parent Advisory Committee (AIPAC).
