Tonight, you know, we're going to be honoring Renee Good, you know, who is one of many people whose lives have been taken by ICE and um border enforcement. Um, and this is a person who's a poet. I do think poetry is solved. Poetry is a way to witness what's happening in real time >> in this moment. Poets, musicians, artists have a calling to be a voice for the people and to be able to bring forward the humanity of who we all are. >> For me, it was wonderful chance to serve community through poetry. I've always been interested in how our city is a city of poets and poetry and um yet we don't see poetry everywhere. So it was a chance for me to explore how can we get poetry into our larger community. I hope people feel like we've had a moment of exchange that felt conversational that felt true. My dream is that in the future we are still here and we have the opportunity to write and sing and share art with everyone.
