Minneapolis celebrates 5th annual Black Business Week at George Floyd Square
The Minneapolis City Council gathered to kick off the 5th annual Black Business Week, a citywide initiative featuring 10 events designed to support Black-owned businesses and invest directly in Black communities.

George Floyd Square, named after the man whose death in 2020 sparked nationwide protests and conversations about racial justice, has become a focal point for community gatherings and economic development efforts. The choice of location underscores the city's intention to connect its investment commitments to the neighborhoods most affected by systemic inequities.

businesses to connect with the services that
[0:17] we are able to provide at the City of
Minneapolis. We, as a local government,
[0:22] can do more to more directly invest in our black
communities. It is so incredibly amazing to see
[0:29] the energy that is at this intersection right
now. This event is more than a gathering. It's
[0:37] a declaration. A love letter to the past,
present, and future of 38th in Chicago. A
[0:44] big part of supporting black businesses is hearing
them out, doing right by the needs of community,
[0:49] and not turning a blind eye when we're hearing
