The audit report for fiscal year 2026 was presented by Aaron D from Bergen KDV. It detailed an unmodified opinion on the basic financial statements, indicating fair presentation. A significant deficiency was noted regarding the lack of segregation of accounting duties, attributed to the size of the finance team. The report also covered financial trends, fund balances, and legislative updates. Board members expressed confidence in the district's financial management and the comprehensive nature of the audit.

The proposed action involved the elimination of a 0.53 FTE kitchen assistant position and the expansion of another 0.59 FTE kitchen assistant position to a 0.79 FTE at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic School. This adjustment reflects an optimization of staffing within the food service department.

For fiscal year 26, we did issue an unmodified opinion on the district's basic financial statements, which is the best opinion we can give as auditors.

We did note uh one significant deficiency in internal control related to the lack of segregation of accounting duties. That's a finding that we've had in the past as well. Primarily just related uh to the size of the district's um financial team.

I think I think when you look through the slides uh one thing that is our story is our community has been supportive I appreciate the board's support of moving ahead with the two-step levy we're in the second step of that levy and how that structure structured these first years, you're going to see that it was built, that we are to be able to save a little bit, but when we get into the final years of it, we're going to be coming out pretty even.

No, I think things are very healthy and as Kevin was alluding to, things have been managed very well to keep things on track and you're not flying by the seat of your pants. like these are big expenditures coming through, but you have a plan and it's evident kind of taking a look at the different budgets, the different fund balances, things are, I think, where they're supposed to be in in a healthy position.
