we'll move on to the student rep report uh Mason you have a good break yeah it waslong but it felt short so I don't know kind of weird but glad to be back andyeah so basically we're just I'm going to talk about the month of December cuzwe had a long break so there's not much updates and then some stuff coming up inthe next couple weeks but for student Senate we hosted a winter themed weekthe last week of school before break with various dress up days and then wehad a hot cocoa cart for the winners of The Holiday Drive which was the seniorsI believe we had the most weight with um the products that we were doing so thenthey all seniors got H hot cocoa at lunch and then as well on that Friday wewere giving out candy canes just around the school to anyone who is like dressedup and stuff like that as well coming up on I believe we're going to we'replanning February 14th we're doing a student Senate and then like a unifiedClub combined event for a snowball game night and like a dance after thebasketball game and then our next thing is so unified club we had an event um Ithink it was December 18th or that Wednesday and it was just a bingo in thelrc and then we also watched a movie in the lrc and had a lot of fun doing thatum for Deca there's a district competition this Sunday at BloomingtonJefferson High School I believe we're sending around 200 kids to thecompetition and I think there's 900 total among our whole District competingthis is the only Gateway into state so it's very important for people to go andthen and yeah and then State I believe is in March so you'll have a couplemonths to prepare if you go to State uh Math League they have continued to stayon top of the leaderboard I know I talked to Miss Paul about it and she'svery proud of them and I think they're undefeated from what I've heard or closeto the top so yeah uh National Honor Society members we just continuing tovolunteer this year they switched the format up a little bit from 15 hours forthe whole year versus 7 and a half each semeso we got to reach that or increment and then by 7 and a half at the end of thesemester so in a couple weeks or else I guess you put get put on probation orsomething along those lines um Rotary Club they hosted a blanket making eventin December that was very successful I think the students got NHS or Deca hourswhatever they chose and a lot of people showed up to that um FCA they'vecontinued to meet on Thursday mornings I believe and and then yearbook Clubthey've been working hard as well um they ran a yearbook photo contest Iheard about so people any student could submit stuff and then winners I thinkthey get put in the yearbook with their picture that they submitted and Seniorsuperlatives are also selected by senior voting and we did the pictures for thoseum and then last of all robotics they kicked off building um I believe it'sthis week they've started building stuff for this year's competition I'm notreally sure what the format is this year but last year we went to world sohopefully we can repeat that which would be very cool uh for athletics so boysbasketball they have had a great start to their season they're eight- one Ibelieve they lost to steuart Bill last weekend but um yeah we've been having agreat season we're at Oro tomorrow night so that's always a fun game Orno isgoing to be a good squad but see how it goes girls basketball they're six andfour also off to a good start Boys Hockey they're seven and six girlshockey is 10 and seven and then wrestling has continued to do wellindividually I think our team's doing pretty well as well and um they had theRochester tournament um week or the weekend after Christmas break started umwrestling cheer has also been hard at work just cheering them on gymnasticsand Alpine continue to compete I'm not really sure how they have doneindividually but I know um I think gymnastics does pretty good because theygo to state most years um Nordic skiing was also training in Ironwood Michiganthis past weekend in search of snow and then they compete tomorrow I know that'sprobably been very difficult especially with a lot of teams around the state nothaving snow um the dance team they've also continued they competed atSouthwest Christian for their first meet I believe and they competed in an EastView tournament after that um for Arts there's the winter one act playwhich is called Aunt leaf and then so that's competition plays I think westarted it up last year maybe a year before that and it's competition I thinkwe've done pretty well um the art Department also submitted studentsartwork to the Scholastic art Awards before break and then Regional judgingoccurs on Saturday and results will be available in February um Works submittedare outstanding pieces created by mws students across a variety of mediaincluding ceramic sculpture drawing painting and graphic designillustration um started in 1923 the Scholastic art Awards is the nation'slongest running and most prestigious scholarship and recognition program ForYoung Artists and writers in great 7 through 12 and then the spring play isgoing to be mam Mia I believe um and auditions will be held in February andthen on to academics not much going on I believe act pre well that's so so Iknow I know during wi time there's been um ACT prep courses for I think Juniorstudying for the ACT they've done a different formatting this year as lastyear was kind of after school hours there was ACT prep now it's duringschool and I believe that's good and then and the no cell phone policy isalso going to be coming soon I think at the start of semester to and we'll seehow that goes I think it should be good but yeah we'll see I think it's a bigstep but yeah and then West Tonka update Isaac Hayes and Rachel Jensen were namedthis year's um AAA award recipients and yeah basically I believe it's Artsacademics and Athletics so all three of those categories they've been in andthen Luke sunor and I think it was Ediehollenstein received the XL award so they're juniors and yeah I don't haveanything else if you have any questions let me know thank youvery thank you have a good night are wedo we struggle with anything that's um Apple versus a um a Dos machine so umgood evening and happy New Year I just a brief report what'sdo showing my age um um just a brief U BusinessServices report tonight um our enrollment as of January 1st is 2,414 students and I'm pleased I'm pleased to share with you that we eight studentsover the holiday break um just some new families moving in and everybody elsestayed in place and so I I I believe that growth um reflects the ongoingappeal of our district and the efforts of our entire um school board and andDistrict team so again that's um really welcomenews Okay um expenditures and revenue through December 31st uh 2024 uh we havereceived um 11,000 11 million excuse me 11, 279,000 of our adopted budget or27.7% and we've expended 16, 780,000 for 40 uh43.1% um both the revenue and the expenditures are trending appropriatelycompared to the prior years so that's um we're pleased with that and we're umheavy into budget season not only are revising the current year budget whichwill be um uh presented at next school board meeting um we're in the finaldraft stages of that um we're also at the same time working on our adoptedbudget for next year um we are um in the initial planning stages we're gatheringinformation we're reviewing assumptions um and that will be underway for um thenext school year and that will be presented at our June 9th Schoolboardmeeting um both of these um important items will be discussed at our upcomingfinance committee meeting on SE or on February 6th and um in addition to thatum finance committee meeting will also review the budget calendar and facilityplanning um the um you'll see an action item on your agenda tonight for the umthe budget fund calendar as well so that's all I have this evening anyquestions okay the enrollement is good news yeah it is that's really good yeahwhen the holidays come along you know people can you know move in or out youjust you never know um with people's employment and so it's it was nice tohave it favorable in our what grade level was actuallysprinkled and yes yeah it was all over I was a little close to see that yeahthat's nice all right thank you thank you teaching and learningreport and I got to set the record straight there's a whole lot I knew you were to do set the record straight on roboticsin the world's comment earlier too yes yes there's always something we werethink we'd have to do a job evaluation maybe what he said was such Gleetoo he certainly did so we're going to get into it realasked you um probably my own kids would say theexact same thing after the first day back I'm not sure but anyway um tonightuh good to see everyone again uh we are almost halfway through the year believeit or not in a couple weeks at the end of semester one we start semester twoand I thought tonight would be a good night that we would just take uh amoment and just talk about uh District tactics District goals give you someshort high level updates I know you're going to a goal planning sessiontomorrow and um a lot of great things that are going on so first of all ofcourse as you know our strategic plan serves as our anchor it's our it's ourdriving force to everything that we do but also and of course I I really focusit on that goal number one around academics and achievement but alsorealize that every year when we put together goals for the district and thenthat goes into our building tactics that it's more than just this is our anchorbut there's a number of different variables that come into play so whenwe're setting goals we're looking at student achievement data so that can befrom State Testing to our local fast Bridge testing ACT scores AP resultssometimes there's things that come up for example the Reda all the sudden nowwe have this big focus on literacy which is great that influences our goals thatour focuses um other things that are happening that you hear a little bitabout tonight the state the state is at a roll uh rolling out uh new academicstandards and there's a whole lot going on they're playing catchup from thepandemic and so what that leads to that new standards are going to beimplemented that leads to what we know will be the MCA 4 assessments and soit's always about keeping ahead of the way being proactive knowing what thenext steps to be to keep moving forward as a school system so there's a lot ofdifferent variables but I always start with what what's our overall strategicplan what's our Direction so to start things out tonightstudent achievement yes there's a lot that a lot that's going on in that areaand so we're always looking at our standardized test scores as as a firstplace to look at but I wanted to focus in in particular tonight on fast resultsfast Bridge results are is our local standardized testing that we do in thefall and the spring and we also do that in the winter at the elementary leveland we look at reading we look at math and what we do with that th those datapoints is really pinpoint gaps and strengths and then what what's happeningin in in just a a case study we take that data and we can identify kids fromfrom Gates program in enrichment to kids that need Title One services to ouraccess intervention programming and for example at at the middle school and highschool we have Kodak classes so what's really important for kids that arestruggling that if we realize they are far behind Benchmark expectations thatwe have a place in reading for kids to go at the middle school high schoolthere's a big focus on literacy right now uh a lot of times there's talk aboutwhat what happens when they get to the middle school what happens at the highschool we have some very intentional work and a lot of that work is throughour supported language art classes at Grand View and then our cack classeswhich means there's a special education teacher and a gened teacher teachingtogether those students and the goal would be for those kids to exit thatlevel get back into regular um um courses so fast fridge is an importantpiece important data piece that we use and then that leads right into uh themulti-tier systems of support and this is amulti-year goal a multi-year focus this year what's happened so far is that wehad a district process guide and now we've created a new version called theDistrict mtss uh Playbook and that is again the rudder it's it's what we goback to as a building as a staff if we're wondering what should we be doingin a tier one intervention what does it mean to move from a tier one to tier 2intervention we go to the Playbook to really guide us with that work the otherthing that that's happening is that we're expanding progress monitoring soprogress monitoring is for students that are struggling and we do veryintentional intervention work and then progress monitor means every two weeksevery three weeks we're actually assessing them they're very smalltargeted assessment to see if they're making progress now that data is only asgood as you have the tools and the sophistication to use that data sostarting this week we're we're actually implementing a new mtss tools callededuc climber and educ climber serves as a datawarehouse but it not only brings in academic data it's going to bring inattendance data it's going to bring in Behavior data so when we have kids thatare struggling in our school system a lot of times you go right to theacademics but we know through mtss it's more than that it's attendance it'sBehavior it can be social emotional variables that are playing into why thekid is is struggling educ climber now is going to be a tool that we'll startusing uh starting next year in in in a full implementation to track not onlyacademic uh data points but also U Behavior attendance social emotionallearning so we're right in the middle we're just starting this process tobring this tool into into the district Mark um yeah the U progress monitoringthat's that's at all grade levels all grade us okay all more intense at theelementary okay um it just just because that's the building blocks with readingbut no we do use it at all all levels and and that'll continue to expand andeduc climber will be a tool that'll make it even easier to to progress Monitorand track the data um educ climber and fast Bridge are the same company theywork seamlessly together so many districts they use both tools is thatgoing to be a database that everybody has access to staff yeah okay yep y areyou required to on on the edge of clim or some of these other ones that you'reinteg or integrating for next year are you required to give that information tothe state or is that just simply an internal tool internal we have statereports that are very high level but the actual student data the data day workwith the data that students are producing that is internal stays andthat educ CL will be an extension of that tool that will incorporate otherfactors other than strict academics correct and it's that that'll be privateinternal data that only staff that are working with students would see wealways have to be very thoughtful about how we share data and how it's used andthat'll be an internal mechanism and do you feel this will be a quicker responsethen to if somebody is struggling Absolut to get them to our program sothat we can yeah because right now we have a good that struggling and we havewhat are called our student uh success teams uh okay I'm I'm struggling in inin Reading well to get the attend my attendance data I have to go over tothis system over here to get Behavior data I have to go over here if I want tolearn a little bit more about social emotional health I have to go over hereeduc climber will bring all those data points under one Hood so it can producea report so when I'm sitting in a meeting really trying to figure outwhat's happening with a student all those Z points will be like in a onepagedocument versus going out to different places trying to pull yeah it'll bring alot of efficiency and the tracking if you think about going from elementaryschool now we're going to shift into the middle school and when they come intothe fifth grade educ climber will have that nice report and background forthose fifth grade teachers um versus we we don't have that right now the easyway to together what are the mechanics then for when you you know when we havethis and I know it's going to be fully instituted next year so you might notbut you're tracking stud and now you have this different income of data rightyou know attendance home activity things like that yes how is okay so that thethe teacher or the instructor can then spot a trend that may not have beenthere or readily you know in sight yes what is the mechanics then of what thatteacher or that group of teachers would then do what is available right so thatstarts to drive what kind of supports the students so you think about our mtssframework there's tier one tier two tier threeinterventions and then we can really Target is it is it a tier twointervention in academics is it something more in Behavior that's theissue is it attendance is it social emotional mental health what is it inthat kid and I believe we already talk about those areas but when we can seeall that data together I think we're going to make even faster more efficientmore accurate decisions around what is it that students need support wise tosucceed so you can relegate to next steps and the intensity of the nextsteps based on the information yes that's the goal that's the goal well Iwasn't paying careful so it starts at grade one I take it actually starts frompreschool preschool so the way it is now I meanteachers were just I mean they must have had some information oh yeah we we havewe have all the data yeah it's just not it's not accessible and an easy way it'sjust you just have to be a lot of effort to pull it alltogether and we do pull it together for students but we're going to be be ableto react and make decisions in a much more efficient quicker faster way andreally monitor how the kids are performing faster quicker than we cantoday this is this is the the logical progression of implementing an ntssframework I I would not have recommended we go to educ cler three years ago atall because you didn't have the basic data we were're just trying tounderstand what tier one two and three interventions are and understand what dowe mean by a intervention in Behavior or in mental health we were good reallygood at academics but we now we're just at the point where we're beginning tounderstand what it means for Behavior mental health with the academics educclim will be a tool that will help us and I I would probably say that we thisgave us a structure that it became more formalized across our system and that'swhat's really a strength uh before we had a lot of Staff doing fantasticthings when it applied to these but it um this has made it morecoordinated and with that coordination it's brought on efficiency but it alwaysbrings in more Effectiveness to because people aren't as as much in silos butit's working together with the information and I think walking beforeyou run with this was a great idea because it just I think you're going tosee so many more success stories with that's because you're ableto pull together the proper information to work individually with these and yeahI would agree and and realize too you know it takes time to get all youryour whole system on the same page aroundmtss and now is the time to implement so more to come so that that'sbeen so the academic data is that just that's in Ed educ climber is that juststandardized test scores or is it grades as well it can be anything we want andit'll include grades it'll probably also include what we call Assessments inReading to a smaller assessments that we might give to young kids on fluency andsome other measurement it could be basic facts it could be we can input anythinginto this system cool and are you doing a history voting a history too yes goodyes that's that's the work we're doing right now good and and we have the rightplayers by the way to help with that we have Jared Chapman our districtoperation specialist he's the guy under the hood that makes sure all our Techtools work well you got Kyle hugine who runs our whole student data managementsystem you got two a players right there that'll be right in the middle of allhis impation okay just a few more things umjust to uh update you again uh we continue the work around our newprogramming at the high school and this year has included site visits todifferent High schol businesses is building Partnerships really the bigFocus right now is identifying staff to teach these new programs the MachiningCNA em EMR EMT um and theconstruction uh and also the work will begin now we have the work of theDepartment of Ed that for these programs uh teachers need to get their career oftech education license that's on top of the regular K12 license and then withthe medical uh we have to work with the uh Department of Health and they'll havetheir checklist requirements and and again we just take it step by step youknow with with these things uh Thursday we have um a visit from the um Minnesotaemergency medical board and that is the organization that authorizes certifiesemrs and EMTs and paramedic so they're going to be visiting with Jolene and Ihere on Thursday and then we have meeting with Jenny nice and she's at thedepartment of AD and she's the she's our person to help us with c tech licensureand CNA program so every week we're hitting a little step next piece nextpiece put it together it'll be here before you know um just um the the lastthing I want to share with you tonight I I was telling Kevin today this is theregular work the regular work is around you know our curriculum and ourprogramming you our classrooms and as I uding to earlier today the state now isrolling out new academic standards in the four core areas they have finishedscience and with science the new MCA 4 science test is being administered thisspring so we have to remember when that comes through and the data comes throughthat is a completely different test than we've had the last know 10 years so wecan't really compare got to be careful when we want to make comparisons then togive you B quick highlight English Language Art standards they have to beimplemented uh next year 2526 and then there'll be a new MCA 4 Reading Testspring of 2026 social studies that now has beenlaunched and and that has to be embedded by the 2627 school year so already we'rehaving conversations with our staff that social studies and then I'm making therounds of having meetings now with staff that teach math math literally was justlaunched by the state right before winter break early December and thoseare academic standards that need to be embedded into our Curriculum by the 2728th school year seems far far down the row but it really isn't and then an mca4math test will be launched in the spring of 2020 is the the new mca4 reading testthat begins uh spring of of 26 is that tiedin with the state expectation that all students are reading at grade level isthat how it's all it's all tied together it's all tied together yeah yeah it isso have you had I mean this is probably a dumb question but have You' been ableto look at all this stuff oh yeah so when you look at it yeah how differentis it it's different so it's going to be and it's different and it's different ina good way um the way that I would summarize it um these standards are whatI would use the term inquiry based so think of what based inquiry questionbased so they are expecting higher level thinking of our students not justmemorizing facts like can social studies but it'll be more take the Declarationof Independence and what was done to createthat document how does it yes here are the days when it was done and who wroteit but how does it impact our society todayis going to force kids to think deeper and that's happening in science it'shappening in all the standards and you you will see that come through sothere's going to be some shifts in instruction and shifts inexpectations and and you take that one step at a time all good all great thingsall good things what a what a perfect time to be doing remodeling at the highschool to develop new classroom environment for students as these thingscome online so this is this is the work and um I would say it's it's rigorousit's the right step there's a reason why we educate well in Minnesota and this isanother reason as they they step up these standards so can you give anexample of like for instance the English is going to start in the fall like sohow what kind of what kind of additions to the curriculum just say at theol whatwould that what would that look like when we're talking about less than ayear yeah so the work you know the work that we're doing um in English languagearts um there a couple things um those standards and all the standards now havea required Native American lature piece to them okay so very specific veryspecific additions yes yes um English languagearts four types of writing are required it used to be well this year we'll doinformative writing next year it's persuasive um now all four types ofwriting um are required every year that's a sh that and the last oneexample I give you was science it's phenomena based so again you know atfirst thing well what does that mean what that means is that if you take a aclassroom and you um in March you go down to dut Lake by gr and all the steamis coming off the lake instead of telling the student why is there steamwhat what or why is there fog we had fog over winterbreak inquiry Bays phenomenal Bays would be you firststudents figure out and think about why that's happening based on your knowledgebase then the teacher comes around and will give more information might beexperiments to do and then at the end they get the fullexplanation so it's all centered around a lot more higher levelthinking so I shared this with you tonight only because this is now this isnew and and the state has really formalized this work and timelines umsince August and this is you know everything else that we do this is alsovery important them to do so I take we'll probably get furtherupdates at teaching and learning on this of course yes yes so so anyway that's myreport tonight um just again um really great things that are happening uh alsoas we shift into the second half of the year uh we get set for ACT Testingthat'll be coming up here shortly in March and then State Testing will bepoin again thank you thank you so much gladto hear some things happening there so just a little bit of an updateand then I'll get into some of your action items today first of all uh thisThursday and then next week we have our kindergarten rounds or informationnights at our primaries and so excited if you remember we ran a perspectivenight in November had a really good response to that been working on ourcommunication out to the community to make sure they know of our options andpleased with um efforts there uh but excited to start meeting some of thefamilies that are families with kids currently in our system and some newfamilies that are coming into our system here over the next next week andappreciate the staff's effort of putting thattogether uh excited about uh the facility planning that'scurrently going on and so we are making plans for starting construction at thehigh school which will be first uh one date that'll soon be on yourannouncements is the groundbreaking and so that'll be April 3rd but already overspring break we will start uh barricading parts of the north umNorthwest side of the high school as that's where construction's going tobegin uh you tell me when we're going to have good weather and I'll tell you thatstart date but we're hoping that's earlier April than later April that wecan get going but over spring break we'll start uh blocking off certainareas and getting that organized so we can do that in a in a organized fashionwith our students and families and communication will be going out aboutthat process uh also Grand View is uh we're uh busy with planning out theirconstruction that'll be done over the summer again the high school starts inApril and it'll go through the 25 26 school year uh opening up uh the end ofend of August and so uh a lot to look forward to we're also in the process ofour design work currently with the stadium and Shirley Hills and hilltopsuh maintenance and improvements and so a lot of work uh a lot of exciting workreally grateful for our commity commun support of these questions and theboard's support of this going forward um you see Mark's report and you can seehow the bond allows programming to go to our students and and as he talked aboutsome specifics it's in every single Department every single department atour high school is going to really benefit by uh this remodeling projectand just excited about giving you updates as this is going on another justjust reminder on this is it's going to open in phases and so it's not going tobe that you walk in and now you see the whole thing at once uh we are going toopen in multiple different phases and so over the summer we will complete onephase of it uh and then in the next semester we'll open up another phase andthen the rest of it will open up in August and so it's really you can thinkabout it in three three kind of chunks that more and moreone thing I feel good about that is our students that are seniors next year theyare going to experience some of the new high school it's not just going to be aschool Under Construction for them they are going to see parts of it obviouslynot the final project but uh they'll be able to experience um parts of it beingcompleted and so excited for that work and then over the summer of 26 is whenthe stadium and uh the primaries will be worked on and so that is uh going onKathy mentioned that at your next board meeting we'll have that you uh approve arevised budget and a budget goal um I think uh Kathy and team and ourfinance committee and our staff as a whole has been really attentive to thefinances of the district we've you look over the past uh 15 years and you'regoing to see a very accurate reporting um not just from an auditing standpointbut just how what we said will happen what has happened and we've built upsome Securities that we really um appreciate and enjoy uh but you can'tyou can't rest on that and we know that every year is a challenge to make surethat we use every dollar as wisely as we can and so we will be going through thatprocess again this this winter of really evaluating our budgets and where can weuh be Tighter and that's something that we welcome input from anybody to uhrecommend things that we should be looking at but over a series of years wehave our methods that really try to dig into that that we can make sure thatthese dollars are being used as wisely as they can for what our strategicdirection is for our district and so we have that work coming up uh withStaffing uh you quickly start getting into you say it's January but January isreally the beginning also of trying to think ahead of where you're going to beand of course you don't know all of your retirements or what opens up you alsoknow what your Trends are and how can you put yourself in a good position thatyou can uh really attract and retain and so you start making sure that you canretain and I appreciate the board's work with our contracts we will have theteacher contract this summer and so we'd really try to build up our strategies tomake make sure that we have competitive contracts that also fit within ourbudget and you do that by listening and observing and really working hard to dowell uh on all sides of it uh then it's also just with the relationships thatyou have in your buildings that this is a place where people really enjoy towork and they feel that they have voice and that they have uh Direction in theirbuilding and I just give a lot of credit to our principles and how they work withtheir teams and then just staff supporting other staff creating anenvironment that really attracts and retains but the best way to hire is toretain high quality and that's where your focus really needs to be but alsowe know that we have to Market ourselves for some new positions and also someretirements Etc and so we we're really going through the efforts of making surethat we're prepared for that uh tomorrow we have our strategic Uuh Retreat where we're going to be looking at our goal setting process whenyou look at our vision statement mission statement and our values I think theyreally have stood the test of time we'll talk about those but I feel good aboutit but when you look at our strategic priorities what Mark showed up therethose four items they're starting to look tired and that's that's what itshould look like after a period of years you should show progress where you needto challenge yourself and you have to set that new bench if those look stillvery challenging I that's not a compliment that's uh something that weshould make those look tired over time and the look that they've been achievedand so I'm really excited about working with the board of what setting our nextchallenges of how we can move our district forward and also represent thestudents and our community really well in our work and so our work tomorrowbegins that process of how we can pull that together and I'm appreciative ofthe board's time I until you serve on the board and when you're going throughand congratulating people that they took different positions I'm like thank youfor being nominated to anyone that wanted an officer position but justbeing on the board there's a lot of time that people will not understand untilthey're on a slight position of what you put into representing our community Ijust want to say thank you and backtack meetings and for some of you it's backtoback to back meetings that you have over the next days uh thank you for that uhin your with your action items have just a few that I'm going to comment on uhone is grade six open enrollment uh we are going to uh cap that like we cappedit this year and one thing that I would just say and I appreciate the board'ssupport of this is we feel uh setting a number is the responsible thing to dothat we have space with Staffing that works well up to a certain point andthen it starts being counterproductive where class size gohigher than what we would like to see them go and so we set this at a levelwhere we feel like we can still achieve what people expect of us and so whetheryou hit that number or whether you don't hit that number uh we'll monitor that ifwe fall below it then you can keep on taking an open enrollment but if all asudden we hit it it's those families that um uh that are open and rolling inuh we will be capped off so if we hit that level nowyes we level we're looking at is 210 this is the only class yeah uh youknow there's there's a part of it that I would like to report to you that everyclass is that we're doing this action and so I and why I would say that isthat would show that you budget planning you have it where you know that you'regoing to be filling that in um but uh right now this is with this grade iswhere that's at and that's why we bring it to you so this is this is cath itwhat's the class of 2032031 yeah when you said we capped it last year we capped fifth grade lastyear it's following the class up got it okay uh last last year we capped fifthseventh and transition plus and so um seventh going to eth Has Lifted uh theMiddle School to the high school and part of that is just due to electivesand other opportunities that kids can have it gets dispersed differently andso we don't see that same count do we track turnaways or is that just data wecan't we can't provide because we don't know once we cap who's going to try toget in it's a yes to both of those to be honest we do we do see who asks to be ona wait list but obviously when word is out that you're full and you don'tinteract with those people you really don't know what that that numberis uh and then for uh action items C and D we we're bringing this to you just fora communication and a transparency uh component of saying that we're how we'remeeting our calendar at the middle school in the high school we're going todo that differently this coming or this year what we're proposing is the lasttwo days uh currently at Grand you uh we are going to normally at Grand View theyhave their end of the year celebration then they go to Valley Fair those samethings are happening it's just that they're not going to be going to GrandView for those sites and the end of the Year's celebration instead of being afull day event it's going to be a half day event uh they're going to be meetingat the activity center and then the Valley Fair pickup drop off is here atthe high school uh what that allows us to do is gain twodays of our construction for a successful project at um gr View MiddleSchool and we feel like that puts our students the project uh our return in astronger spot where the impact to Student Learning there is uh notimpacted assume it says picnic so that will include lunch for those new schoolkids okay uh then for the high school we have twohalf days those final two days uh with those we're going to be doing those uhone if you are a student that prefers to be at school if you do not have internetaccess or if you have special education needs you can come in person but we'realso offering that you can uh do this from homeonline and that allows us again more capacity to do the same thing that we'redoing at Grand View as we will have students in our building it allows us totake some of the steps that we need in these areas to move this along andtaking finals digitally is not an issue we we would umobviously obviously during Co we got uh examples of how to work uh through thisum I'm going to tell you that always in person for education is what our what wewill promote I think in this case with this time period with what's happeningon those days knowing what we gain by the amount of work that's at the highschool this a smart uh recommendation and so we we wanted uhnot to announce something like this we wanted to make sure we brought this tothe school board we will be communicating to parents multiple timesover the next uh weeks months uh but we we do feelum we the the project both projects are uh complicated projects and you want tostart by gaining as many potential days as you can and we feel like this puts usin a a strong position so we can get those turnarounds um when we know whengood weather hits for the high school that's going to give us a lot betteridea of how timelines are working and so uh we will start getting up dates uhfrom kuss Anderson to the board about how the project is moving along andyou'll be able to monitor that but that'll be kind of a standing item Idon't know that we'll do at every meeting but we'll definitely want tohave regular updates so you can hear the community can hear those updatesobviously we'll be communicating those out aswell um lastly I would I would say as Markmentioned we're a semester almost almost in um it's it's a really incredible timeto be at West Hanka it it's um there's a there's a great spirit there's a lot ofmomentum there's obviously um people at a a nice break that they're coming offof but it's so nice when you come off a nice break to come back to work whereyou love to work and um I know that sentiment is shared by many and I'm justappreciative of the board's leadership and helping Foster that environment sothank you thank you Kevin chair
