The project involves significant additions (gymnasium/auditorium, science labs, bathrooms), a new bus corral, and a complete overhaul of vehicle and pedestrian circulation. Key discussion points included project phasing, construction impacts, enhanced energy efficiency measures (including solar sourcing), vastly improved vehicle queuing and safety for drop-off/pickup, pedestrian safety at crossings, snow removal strategies, and the relocation/upgrade of athletic fields and accessibility features like elevators. The plan was overwhelmingly praised for its comprehensive approach to safety, efficiency, and educational enhancement.

This was reviewed by a um traffic at a separate third-party traffic consultant uh the city works with regularly, and they did note that this is expected to increase safety on the site and then also the operation of vehicles moving through there.

The um uh this the the the dollars that are funding this are actually the result of the first building bond referendum we ran in almost 30 years since 1996. And um so these are some improvements that are going to be benefit the educational program. They're not being done for additional students, they're being done for the educational program.

So, the whole district is basically about 95% sourced solar and wind. Uh, and we're still working on that last 5%, but, um, all in utility scale. So, it's not on our roads, so you can't see them you can't see them, but, um, I kind of use the the term of, you know, we don't have a pontoon boat-sized installation. We've got like aircraft-carrier-sized installations are just around the state. So, I just want you to know that we are so committed to energy efficiency and and the benefits that come with that for the for, you know, for conservation and planet and all that.

And what's what's really unique about this layout is that the left lane, the the outboard lane, the the one not on the curb line, is actually a through lane. So anybody that's in that adjacent to the the the curb and the student is maybe slow to come out, they aren't really impeding anybody else because the one behind them can pull out and around and just keep on going.

I think this will also have a creative impact on the neighborhood. I know that um there are a lot of issues or complaints about parents uh or caregivers dropping off students nearby, not coming onto school grounds, um ostensibly because of the queuing and the um how difficult it can be to actually get out and having to go through the parking lot and then waiting for buses making the right or left turn.
