Are there any members of the public that want to address? Um, we'll start off with the construction report. You're up here. >> All right, let's get right into it. Um, we got three of them tonight. So, we have the high school, the stadium, and the primary school. So, I'll just start um with the high school. This is the the parking lot phasing schedule that we've gone through um with admin and in the building occupants um for this summer. So, working through getting this one wrapped up this this week, we hope. Um, let's just go to the pictures. Probably this draw first. So, this was I think about a week and a half ago. That's great. So nice. Um then just some photos photos of the existing gym here with the ceiling painted out. Um we'll be starting um starting the wood floor next week. Um the existing admin space some of the bathrooms we'll be handing over. Said I was telling Kevin this these are always the worst pictures to show like right in the middle of summer because it looks so overwhelming when you see how much is torn up and has to be done. But we're on it. We'll we'll get it we'll get it taken care of. Um LRC school store the TV studio. So here you see the slabs cut out just for some underground plumbing work. Wood shop robotics art band choir cafeteria. You can see the a lot of work going on there right now. We've got the big uh the demo here of the widow theater. So that's completely been completely demoed now. So just some photos of the future storm shelter going on. No problem. We have some photos some photos out just out front there. See the track curb going in. This is the the turf side of it. Some of the buildings going up. So, we're making making good progress. Like you were saying, like the weather has cooperated, you know, so they've they've gotten a good good jump on it. Um turf will be going in I think the end of this week they'll be showing up to start putting the turf down. So that'll be a super exciting time once you start seeing that that go down. >> What is the like subfloor? >> So if they were >> Yeah. kind of what you were looking at it was you said like the diagonal. >> Yeah. >> So that's a deeper drain tile system. So there's huge drains under there and then rocks that cap capture the water and then all that all goes goes off. So it's uh >> if if you figure like maybe it's 15 bucks a square foot to do the do the turf that $12 is all that stuff below. It's like the $3 is the actual turf product. It's it's all the the earth work underneath it that let's see primary. So on the primary schools, we got some work going on over there. Um just in over at Hilltop, you know, we're in the middle of demo, boiler replace, and set. Um Shirley Hills, some more mechanical demo. Um and then up at upcoming for July at Hilltop um MP rough patching some masonry, installing new doors, installing carpet and painting new cabinets. Shirley Hills is also, you know, site creating the turf turf over there for this month. Starting to actually get get into the finishes there. So that's that's good to see. see photos of the kitchen again. Like it's a lot of we've demoed everything and now we're starting to build it back. >> Photos. Uh so one we've daily daily we're in communication um and when I say daily it's not a checkin it's it's literally probably every 15 minutes sometimes it feels like and then sometimes it's like okay you win a couple hours but there's there's just as you can tell in the picture you see that drone and when I said that this high school is going to be torn up all around it. I mean, it's absolutely amazing the amount of project right now that's moving forward. When you look at the courtyard, you look at the little theater wall, you look at taking out the staircase, all the tile in the high school. And then you saw the admin wing, there's no exterior wall right now. So, you're you're looking at really heavy heavy construction. And then all the parking lots and two turf fields go over to Hilltop Shirley Hills. a lot of mechanical systems. More of that is not it's less walls. It's just more of the mechanical side of it. But the media centers and now we start seeing things start moving a little bit faster. So you saw the staircase for the cafeteria out there. They put in the steel the end of last week and now they put like the metal joist across. So, it's starting to get built back up. >> That huge hole, right? >> That's starting to cap up now. And it'll feel a lot better when the mud bag goes over that so it's ready for tile along with everything else. And so, we're at that stage where those things need to start clicking. It's like the wood floor of the gym. That'll start going down and then that takes a while to cure. So, you make progress and then you have to wait again for a little bit >> to Some of the things that we work internally with is things like humidity in the building. So you're removing a lot of walls and yet when you do a wood floor that's got to be all the way down there. And so how do you seal that off? Run the existing units. Where do we all have electricity? So there's there's just so many pieces and all these trades are stacked on each other of they got to make this timeline and they run into an issue or maybe it goes really well and you keep on adjusting. So with that I appreciate uh the whole KA team, the whole W team uh and honestly a lot of the district staff. I mean there's so many people that are really sleeves are rolled up. They care a ton. They want this to be the best for the community. And we can see when you get past this, you're going to start seeing, boy, this is really exciting. So, one thing that's starting to show itself now is the field out there. When you see goalpost up and you can see what the track is going to you see the retaining wall, it's it's easier to envision now where that's going to be. And when that turf actually starts going down, people are going to start getting really excited. And that'll be the beginning of the fun part of the project of this coming coming together. And this week uh was great to have a dry week because the last weeks when it was wet, you would saw that the parking by Taylor, we wanted to open that. Previously, we're trying to pass roll tests for to put it down and because of the moisture, the water, we had difficulty passing that. Now, we're passing things left and right. Right now it's we're able to farm and adjust and be able to go. So we have a good week here to make a lot of progress out outdoors. You saw a lot of curb go in in the week span and there's going to be a lot more happening. So >> just thankful for a lot of people that are really working hard, trying hard and good ditto from us too. Us too I mean Kevin and Jolene everyone's been just awesome. I mean, when we're out of here and gone, like, Kevin, I don't know what you're going to do with all your free time because it's I mean, it is constant to to think of like just there's a million things. It's like, what color? Hold on a second. What color do you want that to be? Like just >> a lot of like all those types of things. So, >> but everything's on schedule. >> Yep. >> Including the um utilities and the reason why the wack reopening's on schedule. >> Yep. So, we're feeling we're feeling pretty good. I mean, the parking lot was a little bit we lost a few days with with the rain on on the parking lot. It's just like it like Kim was saying, sometimes it just needs to be ideal situation for the for the subbase to be compacted and you can't pave until that happens and a little bit of rain. Now, it's too wet. You can't pave. You got to wait for it to dry. So, had a little bit of that, but I feel like we're past that now. We're we're in a good spot. a little bit on the I know we mentioned before like the gym we d we'll be doubling up in the gym to try and get you know the floor finish and gym equipment and the bleachers and so we're that's a >> that's a jigsaw puzzle and you're obviously when you get to the end of the project you can't lose a day on a question and so everything's going to come in it always does uh tight but uh nice thing is when we get on those first days We're going to have the activity center courts, too, and those just got sanded down and redone. Looks really good. Uh we did some painting in the lobby. It looks really nice. We did some touchup in the elevator and the handrails. And so we've really used this time that it's down. Same thing with the pool. The pool was drained. We fixed some tiles, did an acid wash, did a painting all around the pool, did some improvements in there. So, it's um I think as it's been hard some I'm sure not having access to it. We've really used that time to try to every every 10 years you're going to need to roughly sand that floor. So this was a great time. It was done in 2016. So that came at a good time for us to this is the time now. It would have been down three weeks then too. So really trying to think of all those things so we don't have to do that again here soon. We got new uh leased uh equipment in the fitness room. So, people are going to enjoy that or for the activity center. So, that lease came up and so there's going to be things that people come in and they're going to enjoy. >> Is um access to the wack is that going to be paid or is that will be >> two weeks? Good. >> This week helps say yeah to that. Um we we need address we needed this week to work through. But what'll what'll happen is you're going to have access here and then they're going to still be working on that lot. So, this whole upper lot's not going to be done, but the access will be and we'll try to get uh we're going to have bus drop off up here, but closest to the school because they're working on the courtyard. That's going to be a construction area. So that'll be walled off for construction. >> Is is that building behind the bleachers? I don't know why I never Is it really that big? >> That's Staylor. >> Oh, that's ster. I see. Okay. >> The perspect I was like, man, that's where that video was structure. >> Yeah, it's uh when right now they've been able to do a lot of the flat top. They're actually going to start building that team meeting room this week. They should be going or storage. you know, it works both ways. >> Um, and so there's there's um a lot a lot moving on. Like when you see that video, I just think it's just great where you see like many different things going different directions and it's it's an incredibly well-coordinated system that how they approach a project. It's really, you take away the stress of everything and that's a really enjoyable piece of how they go about a project like that. It's really impressive. >> Is the outer facade of the north entrance is all that done now. >> Yeah. Yeah. The the metal >> I think there's a couple corners and then they have to put the sign on the building. So that's coming here in August. >> Okay. >> What type of landscaping are they doing on the north entrance? Is it going to be grass or? >> Yeah. So, you have a concrete walkway, but you also will have plantings and uh some grass in the medians, but you can kind of see a little bit of there'll be greenery and that walking and some benches and then there's a couple mediums where there's grass and we have those windows like that too. Okay. >> It sort of looks in a certain sunlight it almost looks kind of blue. >> Yeah. Yeah. It has that appearance that it can go gray blue. >> We like that with it. It's kind of a little bit iridescent. Uh so again just feel incredibly thankful that we have the opportunity to push like this and it's going to be even more thankful to be a couple months from now >> and see the excitement of different people when we're walking through. Um, we got a busy we got a busy eight weeks ahead of us and I'm very thankful that this year Labor Day is a little bit later because that bought us just a little bit more time which is will take every every day. >> Y >> move on to the treasures report. Um, good evening board members. Um, I'll be giving just a brief overview tonight of our financial data through June 30th, 2026. That's the end of the fiscal year, and that's always my uh favorite time of the year as we close out a year and and open up a new uh new year. Um revenue um that we have received and booked um through June 30th is uh 41,790,000 or 92.9% of our budget. Um keep in mind that we have audit entries to book. We have receivables from federal, state, etc. None of those have been done um at this point. So it's kind of an early snapshot. We've just received our bank statements and so that that work will be done over the next six weeks. Um expenditures we excuse me we have expended um 43,749 or 98.3%. And the same thing with expenditures we have audit entries um to post there as well. And um we are also still receiving invoices say for utilities um as we get the mail that we'll post back into the correct uh fiscal year. Um like every year um just to give you a reminder. Next month I I will come back and I will also um be presenting the June 30th um but it'll be refreshed um and then after we're complete with the audit then we'll we'll roll the year. So next month again I'll be reporting the June 30th but it'll be um a much more dialed in closer to the audit um figures. All right. Um other things going on in the office um business office again we're um preparing for our 2526 audit. Um we'll have that um conducted by Bourbon KDB the week of August 24th. Um we will um have the audit um like each year presented at the first meeting or the board meeting in um October. And that morning our finance committee will preview that. Um uh Mark and I are working on our title one and title two applications are still in progress. Um year agenda is the long-term facility maintenance approval. Um, and in order for school districts to qualify for long-term facility maintenance. Um, school districts each year annually must approve a 10-year expenditure revenue plan as well as a statement of assurances. And so you'll see that later on your agenda tonight. And in addition to public schools, um intermediate districts and other um cooperatives um qualify um and they have our same responsibilities to have a 10-year plan um for expenditures, revenue. But in addition, member districts are required to approve a resolution. So you'll also see that on your um agenda tonight for um 28 or portion of 287's um LTFM revenue. I'm just going to talk about a few of the action items that also are here. One thing at this time of the year, we work on some of our employee group contracts. And so before you you have the contract for our principles and also the contract for our admin assistants that bargaining group. Want to thank board members for participating finance committee for helping with that. Uh happy that we uh found uh agreement on both of those contracts. When we look at how we approach uh contracts, we obviously look at um our budget. We look at being competitive in the area that we are and we work hard to make sure that we can keep staff and also honor the two things that I just spoke of. Really make an effort of showing uh competitiveness with all of our groups in the same same manner. And so looking geographically around us and trying to make sure we keep that with all of our groups is something that's important to us and I'm just pleased that we've been able to bargain with them and here at July have both those for you. So right now we have one more group that we're going to be hopefully starting with really soon and when we do we hope to do the same thing with that group and get that one completed. Uh in addition to the contracts, you have an extension of our current general lease with theor Pond Management. What we are is we're adopting the same terms. We're just extending that a year. One thing why we're asking not to enter in uh like let's say a 10-year lease agreement is we're obviously making some changes right now of how we use the building with the stadium being there. And so what we are asking for in this agreement is a one year with the option of extending it again one year just so we can see how that building gets used and kind of the the fair way that we can work with them on making sure that with supplies, custodial utilities, they can uh make sure that they're taken care of as we use things like the bathrooms and meeting rooms, other things that we want to use. And so we this is this is really a nice thing with this design that we're able to use existing bathrooms for our stadium versus built standalone. Not only is it expensive, but when you have bathrooms that aren't used for a long period of times, things happen. Whereas when they can be used more regularly, you're able to keep up with it. It's a it's a good system. And so I feel um very thankful for the Taylor Pond management of how they've worked with this whole construction process. Uh they've been obviously impacted by water shut offs and a lot of different things that construction brings, but they also see the long-term gain that there's going to be improved parking and an improved campus, and they're excited about that. And so they've been really good partners. uh you're going to see an adjustment with boys swim to add another group. Our boys swim numbers overall really small. And so the advantage of adding yet another uh uh school to be part of the team, it's when you get to relays and the like that even if you can pick up a few more athletes, you have some options. And so the coach is asking for that opportunity and that seems to make sense uh to us. And then there's uh we're adding a few days to a couple of our admin assistants that have done uh eight days to our food service and our facilities uh admin assistant. Uh we've done enough time sheet that we realize that uh we need to put this as part of their contract. And so it's a it's a small addition, but it's one that should be recognized and that's why we bring that to you. So with with that, it also talked a little bit about contracts on these items. There's a lot of prep as we start the beginning of this year. And so as you've heard a lot about, we have some new courses at the high school. Uh we have new staff that we have hired and we're going to train and bring on. uh there's uh new new technology as far as building security that we're making sure that there's training and direction and organization with. So there's a lot of different aspects that we're um we're pursuing right now and before you know it the next time we meet we're going to be talking about new teachers coming in and making sure the move in in these spaces work well and uh here we go. So, uh, I'd say the last thing as I talked a lot about construction, operating during construction, our students, our staff have been nothing short of phenomenal. Uh, but so are those people that are setting that direction in those plans. And right now, a lot of time is being thought of with the construction going on. How can we ensure that we do this well, we do it safely, that opportunities are preserved as we're going through and um it's a continual uh planning. This summer, for example, having the fitness in the pond and being able to use Orno's courts and how we work with different pool, there's there's a lot of different connections and we've had a lot of generosity with people in our community, outside our community to make sure that exists for our kids and um that will continue. But really thankful for what um a lot of people how they've worked with us. It's um shows the best of the community. So, it's hosted out of their school. We're under their our name is mentioned, but we're >> okay. >> Uh out of that school, and we always go there to practice. Um we've had um there's different groups that either we or other people participate with us. Uh Alpine Scheme is another one where there's a lot of schools that participate with us football. And >> so it's it's not an uncommon uh practice. Um but yeah, that's that's one of the we don't create a different mascot for those partnerships and there's an agreement of where it's going to be and how that works and then they contribute based on could be the number of athletes that they have or there could be another mechanism. Um the other question I had one question for you Kevin too is is there going to be um an open house date set for this this fall for people coming to see the school. >> So, no, our our official opening will be fall 27. >> Fall of 27. >> But what we will be doing, for example, there's different things that will be opening along the way. So, for example, with the gym, we will be doing uh we're going to do a special night for those people that are interested in volleyball, for example, where we open the gym to the volleyball. So, we'll make it um we'll something with admission. We'll do a little bit with concession. We'll make it not a long drawn out event, but we'll have the team go out on the court. We'll do that with each sport. So hopefully that invites other people from the public to come in and see that area. We'll do the same thing with nursing and machining and try to find those opportunities specifically for those, but we don't want to do our grand opening until it is actually finished. And that'll be in fall 27. >> Okay. >> Obviously, a lot of people are going to be in and out of our building quite a few times before that, but it's just the way this one will work. >> Do we have a a a drop dead date? Probably poor choice of words as much the for the new programs we're offering for student counts. >> Yeah. So students already have signed up for classes and so we have those outlined for um for example the different nursing and machining engineering classes >> and we have a pretty good comfort level for >> the number we can offer and number >> yes we have really pleased with the numbers uh Julian and Mark have done a great job on staffing training certifications you know getting uh some like nursing is through the department of health and the department of had and so you have you have multiple different groups having to work with. So they've done a really beautiful job of trying to coordinate that and um the the hearing that you have will be on Monday and that's that'll allow students to do uh to be able to get those licenses to be able to use that coursework. So, it's things like background checks and fingerprints and some of the testing that they would have to do for their personal. And so, the reason for the hearing is when a student makes that purchase where the school doesn't provide the funds, but they provide the funds because of a public ed you have to call that out and go through a formal process. And so, we'll have that opportunity at the board to be able to go through it. Mark is working on grants and he has one that can help offset that. So hopefully to lessen that.
