The Brooklyn Park Planning Commission re-elected its current leadership during its annual organizational meeting Wednesday, maintaining continuity as the nine-member body prepares for another year of reviewing development proposals.

Kevin was re-elected as chair, with Kathy Frazier continuing as vice chair and Tahiti Waco remaining as general officer. All three positions were filled unanimously without opposition from other commissioners.

The commission also adopted its 2025 bylaws with a directive to staff to clarify language regarding quorum requirements for public hearings. Commissioner Frazier raised concerns about potential conflicts in the current wording that could allow public hearings with fewer than the required majority of commissioners present.

Commissioners approved their 2025 work plan and discussed adding Robert's Rules training to their work session schedule. Commissioner Waco suggested the training focus on procedures most relevant to planning commission operations rather than comprehensive parliamentary procedure.

The commission also requested staff provide periodic updates on the status of previously approved development projects, including those that may have stalled or been delayed. Staff agreed to present an interactive development map at a future work session showing project statuses throughout the city.
