what we all know what cross subsidy for special education means, but to our viewers in the room and the viewers at home, that means we have to pay out of the general fund uh to cover that. So, that means we're pulling funds from other places.

Now, the state is taking away more funding, um and so we'll have to pay more of that out of our general fund.

Last the last one on there is the security cameras. That was a project that had been you know in the works for quite a while. Thank you to David Simkowski, our our safety consultant who does a phenomenal job of just ensuring that you know not only are our building, you know, our our safe, you know, our air safe and our building, you know, mechanicals are safe and those kinds of things, but he also jumps into the security camera side of things as well.

The Discovery Center kitchen remodel, you'll see bids uh we just put out the bid bids for that um advertisement for bids. And we next month we'll have that ready for renewal. Um that's well past due um as far as the needs there um to enhance the experience for the daycare and as well as um early childhood learning as well. Um we'll be able to cook you know, actually process and cook meals out there rather than having them delivered from this campus, which will save us a lot some money as well over time.

And then last but not least, the stadium lighting. So do for we will be receiving a very large donation to cover the the the the stadium lights and and PHS and stadium, which is a great feature as well. So thank you to those that have privately funded that and are helping out with with that experience as well.

As the board is aware, the property adjacent to the current hockey arena was purchased and now will be donated to the arena from the arena board to the school district in the hope of um at some point with private fundraising they're hoping to um have an arena and an arena addition.

Um I don't know if I would say probably on the next resolution, but I'm not sure if I should need to abstain given my husband's position as president of the arena board.

Yeah, so this is a restatement. Our lease was coming due and with this opportunity with this additional um land conveyance um which you all will be voting on tonight of accepting that. Um they are they are technically, you know, you know, donating that land to to us through this ground lease um situation.

Most schools, these are part of the the the city they live in. They support those and we have a very unique situation. So, it does take a lot of private fundraising and individual efforts. So, great gratitude because that's not a typical way that arenas are run in our state.

The goal of these experiences are to continue to provide clarity around this emerging technology, and so that we have um local talent that is well-trained and having the important conversations around this.

I'm an English teacher who became a technology director. I am a classroom person first. I think a lot about a student's experience and one of the things that I think is particularly unique about our department and every member of our department is they are also very student focused.

And what DataGuard allows us to do is to take identifiable information, so PII, personally identifiable information of a student, and obfuscate that data when it goes to the vendor so that it stays anonymous.

Rapid7 is a security monitoring service that basically the idea is that monitors your infrastructure end-to-end. We actually have the threat complete uh service from Rapid7, which provides 24/7 network operation center, and yeah, I mean, if there's anything that happens on any device with our agent on it, they will call me, like, trust me, anytime, like, 4:00 in the morning, I will get a call because some device had an agent on it that had reported an error, and it triggered Rapid7, and they're generally a false positive, and we resolve it, but I love that they call me because if anything actually happened, they would call me.

Um and then the next thing I've been doing over the summer is working on the student information system, Synergy. There was uh we found out during the school year that they were releasing a new mobile app. I was very excited to just try it out. So, Ms. Fuscher, Dr. Fuscher, tried it out and liked it, but kind of wanted to pull it back a little bit and so we stopped for a little bit and then the spring we um decided to release it again and started sending out communication to families like this is available.

I started out with the tech department by using by participating in our tech buddies program. I don't know how much you guys know about that, but helping the seniors in the community about once a month.

Our goal is to have as smooth a start as possible and every year we've done a little bit better and we look forward to this year as well. It really is incredible what these kids accomplish and we have been remarkably fortunate to have such mature, reliable, and thoughtful students on our intern program.

It is about repurposing time specifically for the things that we value most. And we know in education that relationships between students and teachers are the single thing that create the greatest uh change for the students. And so, how can we use this time uh intentionally to repurpose it that way?
