name is andrew buddy and i am the city engineer here in shorewood and i will be giving you a quick presentation uh for the um uh the the glenn amley manitou street reconstruction project i'm just going to share my screen here all right welcome again to the meeting here the intent of the meeting is to provide an overview of the construction staging and try to address additional residential resident concerns as an update to the current construction efforts the remaining tree removals will finish up on thursday april 22nd and friday the 23rd of this week and center point energy will be in replacing the gas mains starting today april 20th through april 30th on monday april 26 william mueller's and sons the general contractor along with their subcontractors plan to mobilize to the project and begin work the construction efforts consist of city utility installation and full street reconstruction including the installation of concrete curb and gutter the project will be constructed in five stages during these stages residents will not have regular vehicle access to their homes from 7 am to 7 pm on monday through fridays currently the contractor is not planning to work on saturdays and no work is allowed on sundays and holidays the first work that residents will see is the installation of silt vents and other perimeter protection devices throughout the project then the contractor will reclaim the bituminous which is grinding it into aggregate on the amly road stage one which is the area shown in green manitou lane stage two the area shown in light blue and glenn road west which is stage three the area shown in yellow the segments of glen road east which are stages four the area shown in red and stage 5 the area shown in pink will remain as pavement until around the middle of june to provide better access for all residents and help reduce dust in those areas if residents need to leave their driveway throughout the day they are encouraged to stage a vehicle in areas not actively under construction along the roadways or in the church parking lot near the entrance of the development residents would then need to walk to and from their vehicles throughout the day if there are emergency situations or other critical access concerns please coordinate with our project representative stage one of the project will be from april 26 through the end of june generally the contractor will start work on the cul-de-sac of emily road and work towards manitou lane the first four weeks of construction will include the installation of water main and storm sewer and the roseway will be closed between 7 am and 7 pm the water main is located on the south side of the roadway and the storm sewer is located on the north side of the roadway the next three weeks from may 24th through june 11th the roadway excavation and backfill will occur and again largely close between 7am and 7pm and the following two weeks from june 21st through july 2nd will include the construction of concrete curb and gutter bituminous paving drive driveway restoration and turf restoration residents will have access to their driveways during this time and should be able to get through to county road 19 because other construction efforts will be occurring in stage 3 or glenn road west stage 2 of the project will be from may 13 through the end of june generally the contractor will start work on the north end of manitou lane and work towards glenn road the first week and a half of construction will include the installation of water main and storm sewer and the roadway will be closed between 7 am and 7 pm the next three weeks from may 24th through june 11 the roadway excavation in backfill will occur and again largely closed between 7 am and 7 7pm then the following two weeks from june 21st through july 2nd will include the construction of concrete curb and gutter bituminous paving driveway restoration and turf restoration residents will have access to their driveways during this this time and should be able to get through to county road because other construction efforts will be occurring in stage 3 which is glen road west stage three of the project will begin from may 20th through an extent through mid-august and is the longest duration stage in the project generally the contractor will start work at the glen road cul-de-sac and work their way toward manitou lane the first four weeks of construction will include the installation of water main and storm sewer and the roadway will be closed between 7 am and 7 pm then between june uh excuse me june 18 through july 12th no work is anticipated then the next two weeks from july 12th through july 23rd the roadway excavation and backfill will occur and again largely the roadway will be closed between 7 am and 7 pm the following two weeks from july 26th through august 13th will include the construction of concrete curb and gutter bituminous paving driveway restoration and turf restoration residents will have access to their driveways but name it may not be able to get through to county road 19 due to construction work in other areas stage 4 will likely be the most stressful for all residents as it will strict access to nearly everyone within the development stage 4 will be from june 9th through mid-august generally the contractor will start work at the manitou lane intersection and work their way towards the gideon lane excuse me towards gideon lane the first four weeks of construction will include the installation of the water main and storm sewer and the roadway will be closed between 7 am and 7 pm then 3 weeks from july 12th through july 23rd roadway excavation and backfill will occur and again largely close the roadway between 7am and 7pm the following three weeks from july 26 through august 13 will include the construction of concrete curve and gutter bituminous paving driveway restoration and turf restoration from approximately july 26th and onward residents should be able to access their driveways throughout the day stage five is required to be open to at least one-way traffic during construction flaggers will be present present to help direct residents through the area stage five will be from june 28th through mid-august the first two weeks of construction will include the installation of water main and storm sewer and the roadway will be open with one-way traffic then two weeks from july 12th through july 23 the roadway excavation and backfill will occur and again be open to one-way traffic the following three weeks from july 26 through august 13 will include the construction of concrete curb and gutter bituminous paving driveway excuse me driveway restoration and turf restoration there will be some construction items that will be completed in 2022 it is likely that most silk fence and erosion control items will remain in place through may of 2022 because the contractor cannot remove these items until the turf is at least 70 percent established also the final lift of the tunis pavement will be completed during the summer of 2022 residents will be provided and notice prior to the final paving and access to your driveways will likely only be limited to several hours now we'll go through some additional resident questions that often come up what do i do with the landscaping that's in the front in my front yard please remove items that you want saved prior to construction this would include plants bushes landscape edging landscape rock bird baths or other ornamental items if it is left in place by the time construction starts on your street you will be removed and disposed of by the contractor and will not be replaced if you have large boulders utilized for landscaping you want saved we can have the contractor move them to the property line during construction and then coordinate a final placement when ready for turf restoration the fight the boulder's final location should not be in the city right away residents are also responsible for marking irrigation and visible fencing so that damage can be minimized during construction invisible fencing will be repaired relatively timely however irrigation lines that are damaged will be capped and repaired just prior to turf restoration how will we get mail delivery temporary mailboxes for each resident will be installed near the church residents should anticipate picking up their mail at that location when construction begins package delivery may be excuse me package delivery may be interrupted by construction and may have difficulties delivering packages to residents homes it is encouraged that residents request that their packages get delivered to a trustworthy person such as a friend or family member outside of the neighborhood to avoid packages being misplaced or not delivered to the doorstep garbage day is wednesday and residents should continue to bring their hands to the end of their driveways if garbage trucks cannot make it to your home during construction the contractor will move your garbage cans to a location where it can be picked up and they will return them to each individual resident near the end of the day homeowners should label their garbage cans with their name and home address so that they can be returned to the correct home water service will become available around mid-august please contact city hall to start this process if you are interested the utility contractor on this project is not interested in making the final connection to homes so residents will need to reach out to other contractors of their choosing for driveway paving the roadway contractor is interested in providing a quote for removal and replacing residential driveways in coordination with this project this work is not part of the city project and each resident that chooses to have this extra work completed will need to enter into an agreement with the contractor most restoration throughout the project will be completed with seat and mulch and the contractor will be responsible to water it until it has established we'll send out notices to residents in advance when they will become responsible for maintenance of the turf what are some of the expectations the city and the contractor are working hard to keep everyone safe minimize inconveniences communicate effectively and finish quickly and efficiently weather rain and weather will cause delays and adjustments to these schedules that we present that we've presented this is our best attempt to provide you with an overview over the summer but please be aware that rain delays and other associated weather delays could impact the schedule and we will update you accordingly if you have not watched the what to expect during construction we encourage you to do so this will give you a little more insight and provide a couple more pictures as to the potential impacts that you would be facing during a typical work week this high level overview of the project schedule is shown with with uh work starting april 26 and continue through august of 2021 again the schedule provided is weather dependent and will vary we ask that residents things and i'm just wondering what the deadline to move everything at the front um like landscape is is there a specific day i need to move plants and everything away from the mailboxes in the front of the house are you on the glen road east or glen road west portion um i am on the well we're kind of towards the middle i would say um more towards the east probably then i would say uh around june 9th is when that contractor is going to get there and start doing the utility installation okay cool that's all i have thank you guys you're welcome jade hi um so i live on the amlie roadside so i know we're going to be kind of dealing with all of the different phases as far as leaving house and coming back home so when you were explaining that from seven a.m to seven pm is when work is going to happen i guess i'm trying to understand does that mean like my husband and i need to have our car always parked at the church like like are we ever going to be able to drive back home or i'm just trying to scan that that's a good question um you will be able to drive home after 7 pm and before 7 a.m so it's anticipated that you know if you come home at the end of the workday at five o'clock you'd have to park in the church's parking lot and then walk home for that time and then after seven pm could walk back get your vehicle home uh if you wanted to and we'd encourage you to bring your vehicles home at the end of the night instead of leaving them in the in the church's parking lot okay thank you david yeah if we're interested in having our driveway redone how do we get the contractor's contact information if you could first reach out to our resident project representative tom vidmar and he will get you in touch uh with the right person i don't have the right person right at the moment and so i don't want to give out bad information but um tom tom will have that information and can pass it on to you what was his number against 612. tom's number is 612-578-2291 thank you welcome kristen um when there was work on the trees on our street last week um the church parking lot filled up very quickly do you have any other additional parking suggestions because i'm sure that church will fill up very early in the morning yeah we do we do encourage residents to continue to park on streets that are not actively under construction because the church parking lot probably only has maybe 10 to 15 parking stalls down there um and so for these first couple of phases the parking lot should not be very full but once we get into stage four where we're restricting access to nearly the entire development i may need to come up with an alternate plan on that so i will i will be in touch on that one that's a good comment i noticed that too because they they shut off access basically right at the church parking lot when they were doing the tree removal so okay thank you okay really quick again um the presentation that was done is that going to be online or like for us to have yep we recorded it and we will post it on the project's website okay julie the the city's communications coordinator said that once this meeting is done she will send out a link to those who are signed up to receive email updates on the project so you'll get it that way as well thank you and i should uh just mention that email updates are vital i mean if you want to know what's going on where you're able to park where you're not able to park whether your driveway's going to be blocked those communications are vital we gave up doing door hangers for the most part because we'd hang them on the front door and nobody uses their front door so we've gone on electronic format every most everyone is carrying around a phone so please sign up for that it's and we don't we promise not to spam it we just put out critical messages it's very important kaylee yeah sorry one more um we are going to follow the category of needing the boulder wall help removed um i'm assuming a few of our very large boulders at the end of our driveway are going to need to be moved and you mentioned the contractor might be of assistance when it comes to that point how do we reach out to them again i would start reaching out with tom vidmar our our resident project representative he will really be the liaison between residents and the contractor that way that way we know as the city uh what expectations we're communicating with the residents and will help make sure that the contractor completes it perfect all right i will do that thank you any other questions out there well if not again
