Uh we're trying something new here, adding video to our uh communication platform to provide you updates on things going on uh in the city that are important for you to know. Uh, April updates include uh information on parks, uh, spring maintenance, uh, construction for our beloved construction season, and finally, an update on other ways that you can engage with city leadership. All right, kicking off with a parks update. Uh, this year we'll have new court reservation system for both uh, Weisetta Middle School West and our Bell Tennis courts. uh not for pickle ball, but uh this year you can go online, go to our website, and uh you're able to reserve courts to play tennis. Uh make sure that it's two weeks in advance, so not within 24 hours. Um and again, no reservations for pickleball, but go to our website. It's all on there, and sign up. And we have these beautiful new docks out on Weisetta Bay, of course. uh paid parking for visitors, but if you're a Wisetta resident, you can get a pass so you don't have to pay for parking. Go to our website. Ultimately, we'll get you a code uh Monday through Friday, and you can use that code so you don't have to pay. So, again, residents uh don't have to pay to use our docks on Panway. The public works department is just finishing up hydrant flushing. Uh you may have noticed uh the trucks being around town and they'd be wrapping up here as we uh finish uh April. Quick update uh for spring uh cleanup on Saturday, May 3rd, starting at 7 a.m. Household items can be placed on the curb for pickup. It's a free service. Go to our website uh we wisetta.org to learn about the details of what you can and cannot include. Dot day is coming up on Saturday, May 17th. Uh join our public works professionals for planting flowers in our downtown area. Meet at the Panway Plaza at 8:30 a.m. and hope to see you there. I'll be there. And coming this spring, the long awaited stepdowns will be installed on the Paneway Lakewalk. Uh these were originally meant to be installed last year. There's two of them. Uh however, some design tweaks were needed. So they'll be installed uh probably in early May. The two step downs are designed to give access to the lake, so you'll be able to really dip your toes into the lake. Uh so really exciting. Uh for safety uh reasons, we will have life rings installed at both locations uh as well as signage. so people know not to fish, not to swim off of them, and keep everybody safe. In other construction news, the Broadway Avenue traffic signal is still under construction. If you've been around uh Broadway and Wisetta Boulevard, you've probably seen a lot of cones this spring. Uh that was a project that started in the fall and the winter, paused during the cold months, and now is back up. The intent of the project is to upgrade our signals uh at that intersection and also allow for uh uh more accessible um on on and off ramps to the street as well as narrowing the street a little bit so it's safer to walk for pedestrians. So all that work is going to be complete by the end of spring. And if you want any more information, go to our website. One of the key focus areas for city leadership is two-way engagement with our constituents and stakeholders. And to that end, uh, we're continuing with the mayor MUN meetup on the second Monday of each month. I'll be available at the Weisetta Bar and Grill from 7 to 9:00 p.m. to meet with constituents and stakeholders and answer any and all questions that they have about Weisetta. We've had a great turnout thus far and hope to see you there. Our next one is going to be Monday, May 12th. We're doing something new this year. Uh we're bringing city leadership, that is staff and city council out into the neighborhoods. Our first one is going to be on May 5th at the depot park and that's geared towards our downtown area and we'll have a couple more bringing uh the city council and city staff into your neighborhood. We have a new community television show uh hosted by me called Mayor About Town. Our next episode will feature schools, churches, and nonprofits.
